THE INFLUX
"It is not so much about beginnings and endings; it is about muddling through the middle."

The Ingress has pulled you in. Your body experiences several sensations at once: being pushed forward as if a hand is resting on your back, momentary and startling blindness, a gentle ringing in your head. You have difficulty discerning whether it is hot or cold, but where you have been prodded is noticeably warmer than the rest of you. Some may suffer from dizziness while others are perfectly fine. Once equilibrium has been reestablished, you will notice you are standing on a long platform and that the room is filled with a soft cerulean light. It's slightly humid and dark despite the glow around you, and nothing is familiar.

Welcome to Caducus Primary

Shortly after your arrival, you are met by one of the captains and any of the crew of the Moira who might have accompanied him. You are given a brief physical scan and are asked to sign a contract that states you are now part of the Moira with a specific job. This process consists of a complete work-up of medical history and current health, and afterwards, you are given your MID, a device that is integrated into your hand with only the slightest pinch. Much like the Moira's own Ingress, C-Primary's Ingress seems to be malfunctioning, and nothing can return through it. If you choose to disregard this offer, you will be detained indefinitely by the natives of Caducus Primary. (Joining the Moira is really the only choice you have.)

DESCENSION
"I am the keeper of fragile things."

From a distance, Caducus Primary doesn't look like much. The weather on the planet is extremely stable, and the vegetation is neat, almost pristine. What stands out about C-Primary, however, is the fact that there are hundreds of VERY TALL buildings packed together in many of the cities. They are elevated about the ground on what appear to be stilts and sway almost gracefully in the gentle breeze that is always present. Their stability never wavers; they don't fall down. The streets are lined with beautiful sculptures that are placed wherever light is needed. Many other designs can be found outside as well as in. This planet is rather wealthy, and the abundance of their natural resources reflect in everything. The world glitters just as glass would in the sunlight.
Native Details
● They have darker skin tones, but their hair styles and colors are all as unique as they can make them. This can be seen as influence from other travelers.
● Friendly, welcoming, and encouraging to the crew to trade with them for what they need.
● There are no visible "poor" areas.
● Calm and organized. If lost or in need of directions, they will offer to take you where you are going.
● Vey strict when it comes to rules. (Trade what you say you're going to trade.)

CITY PROPER
There are many things to do once on planet. In the city proper, stepping into one of the multiple shops reveals workers crafting glass figurines, jewelry, cups, and other items to your specifications. Trading is the same as on all other planets—there is no one accepted monetary unit. Yet, any unsavory cargo (such as weapons, explosives, alcohol, and drugs) will not be found anywhere in the vicinity of these areas. Other travelers have set up places outside the cities near transporter zones for these particular necessities. Trade at your discretion. At night, if you catch your reflection in a surface that isn't quite as transparent (on a sculpture, the side of a building, anything made of glass), there will be a momentary glimpse of your past or future self. A blink, and then, it will be gone.

Staying on the Moira isn't required during time spent on Caducus Primary. Visit one of its many fine hotels with its beautiful accomodations. The price is remarkably inexpensive: it's free.

Hope so. I think I’ll be lucky if I don’t go stir-crazy within the first week. [It’s an exaggeration, but only by a little. Hopefully they’ll be some kind of excitement to keep her entertained when they’re between planets.]

[There’s a pause when Tali asks about the rooms, brief but not imperceptible.] There’s too much glass. The people on this planet seem to be obsessed with it for whatever reason. It’s an accident waiting to happen. [She raises her wounded hand a couple of inches.] Or in my case, that's already happened.
keelahselai: (fuck your feelings)

oh my god this is late i'm sorry!

Knowing the Moira, you might rather end up bored... [Considering bizarre events are already turning out to be commonplace...

Her gaze flickers to the wounds again, the movement of her eyes behind the visor obvious, and then she looks around at the marketplace they're just approaching.]
Maybe when we're asking about the dock we can get something to wrap around your hand until we get to the medbay...

I'm glad I'm not the only one who doesn't get all the glass, though. I wasn't sure if it was just me.

no prob, it happens!

That bad, huh? [Zam doubts it. Even if life on the Moira ends up being dangerous, she’d still prefer danger to tedium.]

Probably a good idea. [She looks around the market, uncomfortable to see that most of what they’re selling are glass sculptures and baubles. She does her best not to look directly at them as she approaches one of the vendors.]

Hey, can you tell us how to get to the closest docking bay? We’re looking for a ship called-- [She stops mid-sentence as she notices a shadow out of the corner of her eye and turns her head to look. In one of the facets of the glass sculpture the vendor is selling, she catches a glimpse of a familiar blue and silver helmet. She can practically feel the gaze of dark eyes behind the visor before the image vanishes, leaving her looking at nothing more than a reflection of her own face.] Uh… [She stares at her reflection, train of thought completely lost.

She might need an assist here.]

It's just...weird. [Her voice tilts up in something of a questioning tone.] I thought I actually understood how the galaxy worked until I came here.

[As they approach a vendor and Zam starts to ask, Tali's just looking at the little glass trinkets for something to look at, so when her new crewmate trails off, she thinks for a second she's just forgotten then name.] Ah, the Moira. Do you know where it is?

[And then she looks at Zam, to see her focused on one of the glass sculptures - intently so. It's not the face of someone who's just thinking of buying it. She reaches out to just barely touch the woman's shoulder.] Hey, are you OK?

[The merchant gives them an answer, though Zam is too distracted to notice. It’s not until she feels Tali’s hand on her shoulder that Zam snaps out of her reverie. She blinks once more at her reflection and then looks away.]

Yeah, I’m fine. Let’s just get back to ship.

[She keeps her eyes fixed on Tali’s face plate, trying not to look back at the vendor’s wares.]

Where did he say it was again?
keelahselai: (real deep lyrics here)

[personal profile] keelahselai 2015-12-02 10:53 pm (UTC)(link)
[As the alien explains the route - actually, they're not too far away, Tali glances between him and Zam, attention split between the two.]

OK, sure. [She nods respectfully to the merchant - then, as an afterthought:] Oh, do you have any cloth?

[When she turns away with a couple of slightly torn, yet clean, rags, Zam is gazing at her almost as intently as at the glass a moment ago.] It's not that far. That way - [She gestures.] - through the market, then go left at the big fountain and we should see it.

[She watches Zam for just a moment - her eyes, glowing behind the visor, are visible peering at her - then gestures to her hand.] Here, let me wrap that up first, it might help.

[Zam glances in the direction that Tali gestures, mentally following the route, and then looks back. Her gaze once again stays focused intently on the glowing eyes behind the other’s mask, but even when she’s still, there’s an anxious energy about her. Her fingers curl reluctantly when Tali mentions to her hand.]

You can do that later, [she says, impatience making her voice sound more sharp than she means it to.] Let’s just get out of here first, okay?
keelahselai: (getting money)

[personal profile] keelahselai 2015-12-06 10:40 pm (UTC)(link)
[Tali's eyes widen a fraction at the sharp tone, then narrow a little more noticeably.]

OK, OK. [She makes a calming motion with one hand, holding it up, palm out. Calling out a thanks to the merchant, she beckons Zam and heads in the direction of the docks.]

There's got to be something here they like that isn't glass. [Partly it's a genuine gripe - she's sick of seeing the world glittering all around her - partly it's that she saw Zam staring at one of the glass ornaments. Her own vague discomfort doesn't seem to have much on Zam's.]

[personal profile] backsassin 2015-12-06 11:16 pm (UTC)(link)
[Zam has a bad feeling she’s going to have to explain this later; she’s pretty sure “sorry, I just really hated the aesthetic of that one glass bauble” isn’t going to cut it. But right now, she’s just relieved they’re back on track to getting to the ship.]

I’ll bet good money they also like crystal. [She tries to keep her tone light, partly to make up for snapping at Tali earlier and partly to make herself feel a little less insane for running from her own reflection.]
keelahselai: (you know what screw it)

[personal profile] keelahselai 2015-12-10 09:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Glass, crystal... Maybe when money's short, they're OK with clear plastic. [Her own tone is pretty light as well. She's still not sure what it is about this place making the other woman uneasy, but at least they're going back to the ship, which is decidedly unglass.]

Have you been on board yet? The Moira, I mean. [Probably easier to make small talk than keep on about the glass.]
