Who: Nick Gant, Natasha Romanoff
When: Backdated to mid-March.
Where: Training sim room.
What: Nick meets with a personal defense specialist. It can't hurt, right? (It'll probably hurt.)

[Nick's never had any formal combat training. Not a single boxing or karate lesson. He likes to think of himself as mostly an opportunistic fighter...which means a beer bottle always does the trick, especially when followed up by running. He does have his power to fall back on, and he's gotten a lot better with adding a little of it to his punches, or using it to help block another's. But the basics might be helpful, some fundamentals about form or technique or whatever the language is.

He doesn't know who he's showing up to meet, the whole conversation was in text. But there was something playful about the exchange, and a suspicious number of smiley faces. The important thing is that they said they could teach him to fight, and he'll take every advantage that he can get when it comes to maybe keeping Cassie safe. It's like he told...whoever this person is, he's not ruling anything out, and he still doesn't trust about half this ship.

Nick's taking a good look at the room as he enters it. First time here, and it's already impressive, even without a training program. The ceiling's probably nice too, something Nick is sure to discover when he ends up on his back.]

Teach?

[His brows arch as he looks around for his instructor.]

[ When he walks in, Natasha looks up from where she's leaning against the wall and tying her shoes. She's not sure who to expect, but she's already agreed to train possible future murderers, so here she is.

At least he doesn't look like much of a threat. In fact, his face structure's not too different from Steve's. ]

Here. My name's Natalie.

[And her face structure is...well, it's a nice face structure. Nick would tell her but he's sure she's heard it before. Maybe not phrased like that, exactly.

But he's gotta get those thoughts of his mind and fast. It looks like she's ready for business.]

I'm Nick. Do you mind if I ask you where you learned to fight?

[He's curious about her credentials. Or just curious, actually.]

I'm a professional. Do you really need to know more than that?

[ She raises an eyebrow, curious if he'll challenge that. ]

[Nick thinks about that for about two seconds. The shrug of his shoulders should be answer enough.]

Works for me. What's first, warm-up stretches? Breathing exercises?

[Pros probably do that sort of thing, right?]

Do you need guidance for stretching or do you think you can do that on your own?

[ There's a playful smile to go with the not-entirely-kind question. ]

[One brow quirks. Oh a wise guy. Well here's some bad news, that just makes Nick like her even more.]

No, I think I'm good.

[And then he does a whole lot of not-stretching, hopping up down there at the end.]

All warmed up. Show me how to choke a man with my thighs, that's gotta come in handy.

[ She does a little stretching of her own, clearly a lot more calm about it, but she's got a little smirk in place as she watches him. ]

Maybe we should start a little more easily and work our way there. First you have to be able to get out of a hold. It's the most important thing you can learn.

[ She waves him closer so that she can try to get him into a slow and easy choke hold. ]
