But it's a common trait among humanity to exploit the resources around them for their own gain.

[She sighs slowly.] I came from a place where if two people of different races formed a relationship, they might find themselves tied up and put in front of a crowd that would throw baseballs at them. And that was supposed to be entertaining. And corrective, I guess.
But even if it was common, that didn't make it alright. It was a hideous thing to do to someone who did what almost everybody does-- form a bond with someone.
