Who: Alphonse Elric and Scott Lang
When: Feb 28th
Where: Starting over the network
What: A promised meet up
Warnings: None
[Settling in on the ship has taken a while, and Al still isn't sure if he'd call himself quite settled. He still has moments where he has to just stop and reel in amazement at the fact that he's on a real life spaceship.
Honestly, it's beyond his wildest dreams.
He's still worried about what's happening back home, of course. He wants to know how the fight with Father is going, and if all the people he cares about are safe. But the best way to find that out is to work hard on board until they manage to get home. So he has been doing. He's thrown himself into his new research in the library, his internship in the medical bay, his part time work in the science lab, and his official job as a bodyguard.
It's only one evening that he finally has time to think of Scott and the offer he made on his first day. That fascinating piece of technology that could control ants, of all things. So he brings up the man's contact details and rings through, hoping it's not too late that he would accidentally be waking poor Scott up. Al, after all, doesn't sleep.]
Uh, hello? Scott? It's Al, Alphonse Elric, we met a while ago. I don't know if you remember, but we agreed to get together and talk sometime, and I was wondering if you were free?

Uh, hello? Scott? It's Al, Alphonse Elric, we met a while ago. I don't know if you remember, but we agreed to get together and talk sometime, and I was wondering if you were free?

no subject
Starting with Alphonse.]
I remember you, Al. Did you ever find your brother?
[He begins to gather up all his tech, suit, EMP device, since that's what they talked about before.]
I'm free, just getting my stuff together, man. Where'd you wanna meet up?
[Scott's contemplating bringing a few ants along with him. Especially the little ant that's turned blue for some reason. A fresh perspective might tell him why.]
no subject
[Good job Ed isn't actually there, or he might take offence to Al thinking he needs to be kept a watch on. But really, his brother has such a short temper and the last thing they need is to be thrown in jail for Ed picking a fight with the wrong person.
Again.]
I'm not sure where to meet up. To be honest with you, I'm still getting lost when I try and find my way around, this place is so big. But you can come to my rooms, if you like? Nobody is here right now but me.
no subject
[Scott didn't know what it was like to have siblings of his own, but he could get why he'd want to be close to him. This place was dangerous, the ship and the planets they stopped on offering all sorts of ways for loved ones to get hurt.]
I'll come to your room. I'm already on my way out the door, just shoot me your room and deck number.
[He can navigate his way between the decks, which is pretty good, and even though he hasn't broadcast it to everyone, Scott's been sneaking around the ship every chance he gets. He needed to know all the entrances and exits, it was just good practice.]
no subject
[Honestly, Al is still getting lost between decks and has more than once walked into the wrong room by mistake. He is trying to learn the layout of the ship, though, spending a lot of each day wandering in order to mentally map it.]
Just come right in when you get here, the door is open and I'm on my own.
[Al busies himself in the meantime setting out a couple of edible snacks and a glass of water for his visitor. Let nobody say he can't be a good host.]
no subject
Alright, be there in a jiff.
[He gets distracted a few times on his way down, but still makes it there in less than ten minutes. Scott steps inside, glancing at the snacks and water with a grin.]
Aw, you didn't have to do that for me, but thanks, man.
[Guys got manners. +100 in Scott's book.]
So I brought the stuff.
no subject
[Al's hands are itching to get hold of it already. He wants to take it apart piece by piece and figure out exactly how it works. But he's controlling himself, manners first.]
Do you want something to eat and drink first?
no subject
[Scott shakes his head.]
Not right now, but thanks for offering. We should just dive right into this.
[He lifts the suit and the EMP device, crossing the room to stand closer to Al.]
Just tell me where you want me and we'll mess around with this stuff.
no subject
How much room do you need? We can push the furniture back and use this floorspace?
[He is SO EXCITED.]
no subject
[The suit was only Scott-sized so he didn't need much space.]
But if you want me to put it on and show you what it does, I'll need even less room.
no subject
[He thought it was just a fancy looking suit of armour, for protection purposes, he didn't realise it actually DID something too.]
no subject
Hand me that helmet.
[A few good tucks, and he's almost ready to go.]
no subject
It's a pretty strange looking suit, I've never seen anything like it.
[He does as he's bidden, though, and hands over the helmet.]
[ooc: Sorry for the wait, I was out of town at a wedding.]
no subject
[Scott slips the helmet on, everything closed but the visor.]
Ready?
[He taps the side of his helmet, shutting it, and then lifts his hands as if he's giving Al the double thumbs up. Scott clicks the two buttons on each hand, instantly shrinking down.]
[ooc: That's okay! I hope you had fun.]
no subject
It's not at all manly or courageous, it's a high-pitched and surprised sort of yelp that's accompanied by the crash of metal as he leaps backwards in shock.]
Scott?
[He can just about see a tiny man on the ground, but surely-- surely not. He bends over and carefully presses his giant helmeted head towards the tiny figure. Hopefully being that small wouldn't mean he could see behind the eyeholes or through the small cracks to see there was nobody inside.]
Is that really you? Can you hear me? Can you still talk to me? This is amazing!
no subject
I can hear you.
[His voice is amplified, which lets his friend hear him even though he's as small as he is. He does a twirl, arms spread out so that Al can see that it's him.
Scott leaps up, suddenly, landing on Al's shoulder. He taps the metal to get his attention, careful of the spikes.]
These look even more dangerous from this angle.
no subject
[Concerned about just that sort of thing happening, and also in case Scott falls off, he reaches up with a flat palm to offer for a more stable and comfortable perch.
Also, selfishly, one that made him less nervous. Scott being so close to his helmet worried him in case he decided to take a look inside.]
How is this even possible? I can't imagine the technology needed to be able to completely alter someone's genetic structure like this.
no subject
Thanks for that, man.
[Explaining the technology used to make this happen is easy enough, but only if the majority of it is something that Alphonse is familiar with.]
You ever heard of the quantum realm? This suit lets me shrink down and shunts my extra mass into a subatomic physical dimension until I hit this button and bring myself back. The belt has a regulator, and Pym Particle Disks. I can throw them at something and shrink or enlarge it.
no subject
I've heard of subatomic particles, but it's a theory at the moment among the scientific community. Alchemists deal in atoms and compounds all the time, but I've never heard of another physical dimension which could hold mass like that.
[He can't help himself from raising his other hand to poke very gently at Scott.]
Does it hurt to use it?
no subject
Maybe Hank made it all up. Not the place, it's real. I've been there. But the lingo for it.
[He's half joking, though some of it the man had named after himself, so.]
It happens too quickly to hurt. It's strange, disorienting, but not painful. One second you're big, the next you're small.
[Scott runs a hand along Al's finger, patting it a few times.]
Is this hard to clean? It looks like it would be from here.
no subject
H-Huh? Really? It's not too hard to clean.
[At least that's not too awkward a question.]
I use polish or oil and a rag, it doesn't always get the scratches or the dents out, but it keeps the joints limber and stops any rust.
