SHIP LIFE

The Ingress has pulled you in. Your body experiences several sensations at once: being pushed forward as if a hand is resting on your back, momentary and startling blindness, a gentle ringing in your head. You have difficulty discerning whether it is hot or cold, but where you have been prodded is noticeably warmer than the rest of you. Some may suffer from dizziness while others are perfectly fine. Once equilibrium has been reestablished, you will notice you are standing on a long platform and that the room is filled with a soft cerulean light. It's slightly humid and dark despite the glow around you, and various machines line the walls on either side, though they are not accessible from where you stand. Shortly after, you are led out and toward the medbay.

Inside this room, you are given a physical scan and sign a contract that states you are now part of the crew of the Moira with a specific job. This process consists of a complete work-up of medical history and current health, and afterwards, you are given your MID, a device that is integrated into your hand with only the slightest pinch. From there, you are guided out of the medbay and to your living quarters.

☄Crew members exposed to Exuo will notice that effects are slowly beginning to taper off. However, most will still continue to feel some agitation over the smallest things. Perhaps a visit to the UV beds will lighten that mood of yours.

☄MINI RECEPTION

Orders have been sent down to the kitchen to prepare something small but fulfilling for the entirety of the crew as a way to thank them for their hard work gathering supplies and returning to the Moira mostly unscathed. The mess hall has been decorated—kind of. There are small, tidy bows stuck to the backs of chairs and “party favors” spread out across the tables. These favors make a room smell sweet but are otherwise harmless. As a gift from Thán, he has provided the crew with a treat of sorts in addition to the foods the kitchen has prepared. All crew scheduled for morning shifts in the kitchen will have helped with these preparations. As a note, there is also a soft, unfamiliar melody coming from an old radio on one of the tables. The captains encourage everyone to relax, have fun, and get to know one another better.

Other areas of the ship are also open to exploration! Privileges for crew ranked Tiruncula** are as follows: (1) shift in kitchen and/or mess hall duties can be skipped each week without repercussions.

I'm sure some people put silver linings on toilets, but it won't make their shtako more special. [Hell of a first lesson on alien languages there. But still, it is true. Walk around freely and easy food? Oh it could be a lot worse.]

If it's medical work and scrubbing dishes I don't see why we would be worth the investment.

[It is indeed, and while Elizabeth looks a little taken aback by how quickly that particular image was introduced into the conversation, she doesn't seem offended or shocked.]

I admit, I don't know why I'm here either, but in my experience these kinds of things don't just happen randomly. Bad or good luck usually stems from someone with a plan.

Not new to kidnappings, huh? I'm not new to unsolicited career changes. Always someone with a plan, and I don't think anyone has Christmas miracles in mind when they don't ask first.

But- [she shrugs her shoulders and crosses her arms.] -might as well make the most of it.

Unfortunately no. [Elizabeth sighs and gives the other a wry smile.] This is number four, if we're talking about my linear timeline. [If they weren't, she's been kidnapped literally hundreds of times.]

Speaking from experience, it could always be worse.

So what sort of experience do you got, hot stuff? It might be good to know what to watch out for.

[Especially if she's getting into linear timelines here. That's a whole new can of worms that's interesting from a scientific perspective and exhausting from an "I don't like being in unpredictable places" perspective.]

[Elizabeth isn't sure how she feels about being called 'hot stuff' in this context, and the way her expression sobers probably says as much.]

Prolonged isolation, medical experimentation, and torture. [She lets that hang for a moment, looking to see if there's any sign of disbelief.] It could always be worse.

[Elizabeth folds her arms and thinks. What, ultimately, had led to her situation escalating?] We don't know where we are, I don't know where we're going, but that could be the least of our problems. Are there any areas of the ship we're not allowed to go into? Has anybody ever asked a question and received a non-answer? Have there been any signs of fanaticism?

[Experimentation brings up unfortunate memories for the doctor, though she won't mention that- because she was on the other side. Wartime gives birth to unfortunate acts, and she's been working hard since the Pale Wars to make up for them. She guesses helping the pretty lady out if she needs it would be another step on the right path, if she's come across that.]

So far I haven't noticed more than some basic orders. [Not that that is especially helpful.] But I've not had many introductions. But I'm also pretty new here. Have you noticed anything?
