Warnings: None, but please label anything you do that needs a warning

SHIP LIFE
”Working together not only helps us move more quickly, it changes the nature of what we can undertake.”

The Ingress has pulled you in. Your body experiences several sensations at once: being pushed forward as if a hand is resting on your back, momentary and startling blindness, a gentle ringing in your head. You have difficulty discerning whether it is hot or cold, but where you have been prodded is noticeably warmer than the rest of you. Some may suffer from dizziness while others are perfectly fine. Once equilibrium has been reestablished, you will notice you are standing on a long platform and that the room is filled with a soft cerulean light. It's slightly humid and dark despite the glow around you, and various machines line the walls on either side, though they are not accessible from where you stand. Shortly after, you are led out and toward the medbay.

Inside this room, you are given a physical scan and sign a contract that states you are now part of the crew of the Moira with a specific job. This process consists of a complete work-up of medical history and current health, and afterwards, you are given your MID, a device that is integrated into your hand with only the slightest pinch. From there, you are guided out of the medbay and to your living quarters.

MERO DECKNOMO DECKMORO DECK

Crew members exposed to Exuo will notice that effects are slowly beginning to taper off. However, most will still continue to feel some agitation over the smallest things. Perhaps a visit to the UV beds will lighten that mood of yours.

MINI RECEPTION
Orders have been sent down to the kitchen to prepare something small but fulfilling for the entirety of the crew as a way to thank them for their hard work gathering supplies and returning to the Moira mostly unscathed. The mess hall has been decorated—kind of. There are small, tidy bows stuck to the backs of chairs and “party favors” spread out across the tables. These favors make a room smell sweet but are otherwise harmless. As a gift from Thán, he has provided the crew with a treat of sorts in addition to the foods the kitchen has prepared. All crew scheduled for morning shifts in the kitchen will have helped with these preparations. As a note, there is also a soft, unfamiliar melody coming from an old radio on one of the tables. The captains encourage everyone to relax, have fun, and get to know one another better.

Other areas of the ship are also open to exploration! Privileges for crew ranked Tiruncula** are as follows: (1) shift in kitchen and/or mess hall duties can be skipped each week without repercussions.

[Wanda would look a little less waif-like if her coat had survived the Ingress. It's hard to be the Scarlet Witch when you're missing half the title and she feels so exposed compared to the armored woman in front of her.

Of course, Wanda has full confidence that she could more than defend herself if it comes to that, but still. She's been in enough rough situations to know that alone and exposed are two things nobody wants to be.

Luckily she doesn't feel any hostile intent from this person, though suspicion is quite another matter. But it's a fairly typical response from people who know what she is back at home, so Wanda carries on ridding herself of the other boot like she didn't notice anything.]

Am I interrupting something?
pallantias: (Default)

[personal profile] pallantias 2015-10-02 03:16 pm (UTC)(link)
No. [She notices that the woman is continuing to remove her boots, despite the fact that she now knows that she isn’t alone in the room. Which means she probably isn’t planning to engage in combat any time soon. Athena’s wariness eases by a few degrees.]

Who are you? [Her tone is guarded, but not hostile. Knowing the other woman is likely her new bunkmate doesn’t give her much information. Is she civilian or soldier? Is her rank above or below Athena’s? How much does she know about what’s going on here?

Of course, all those questions are only relevant if at least some of what they told her in the medbay is true. If this is all a ruse meant to keep her complacent until they arrive at their true destination, then whatever answers the woman provides will likely be false anyways.

But given how little Athena knows about the current situation, even dishonest answers would provide her with more information than none.]
seeingscarlet: (concern; what did you do)

[personal profile] seeingscarlet 2015-10-03 07:11 pm (UTC)(link)
[Wanda probes again and is glad to find Athena's wariness levels have eased slightly, though she wishes she could get more than five actual words out of her. Until then, Wanda's just going to have to supplement with the unspoken.

Is it always going to be like this? If the captains want her to do what her position implies, it's going to be exhausting being in others' heads all day and coming "home" to do more of the same.]

Wanda Maximoff. That thing with the blue lights - the Ingress, they called it? - brought me here. Or that is what they say.

[It remains to be seen whether her inability to read the ones she spoke to stems from them being difficult or from how disoriented Wanda was at the time. They could very well have been telling the truth but for now, who knows?]
pallantias: (cool girls... sometimes... look at explo)

[personal profile] pallantias 2015-10-03 10:29 pm (UTC)(link)
[Athena listens intently, alert for any signs of dishonesty. She doesn’t find any, but it’s not like reading others is her forte anyways.

The woman stops speaking and after a short period of awkward silence, Athena realizes that she should probably introduce herself as well.]

I’m Athena. I arrived through the “Ingress” as well.

[She’s guessing it’s some sort of fast-travel station the captains of the ship had somehow managed to jailbreak. Whether it truly brings people onto the ship at random or if the captains are actually controlling the process remains to be seen.]

Did they take you from Pandora as well?
seeingscarlet: (concern; 028)

[personal profile] seeingscarlet 2015-10-03 11:34 pm (UTC)(link)
[She waits expectantly. Normally conversations mean both parties have to offer information, but gold star for effort.]

New York. [Secret bases are supposed to be, you know, secret, but even if she wanted to offer more information, she couldn't. She's only known New York for the city before and couldn't point to the base on a map if she wanted to.]

I've never heard of a 'Pandora.' [Aside from the myth, but that's clearly not what Athena means. Somewhere in Greece given both of their names, perhaps?]

[personal profile] pallantias 2015-10-04 04:31 am (UTC)(link)
[The name “New York” only gets a blank stare from Athena. Perhaps it’s some minor colony she’s never heard about? It’s not on Pandora though, which means the captains hadn’t just set the ship to orbit the planet and picked people up through their fast-travel that way. Their “Ingress” must have a longer range than she thought.

She arches an eyebrow at the woman’s next words. Pandora isn’t exactly a common destination, but it isn’t obscure either -- the horror stories alone ensure that it stays on the maps, even if it’s listed as a place to avoid.]

It’s one of the border-planets. In the same sector as Promethea. It's quite well-known for the Vault.

[Any of this ring a bell?]
seeingscarlet: (concern; 028)

[personal profile] seeingscarlet 2015-10-04 05:13 am (UTC)(link)
[There's no flicker of recognition on Wanda's face, just a blank stare. Vault? Is that a prison world? That would explain the armor...

Maybe this person isn't even human, just humanoid like the Asgardians. She's certainly not from anywhere on Wanda's arm of the galaxy.]

I'm from Earth. I've never head of this 'Vault.'

[Does that help?]
pallantias: (i'm lazy)

[personal profile] pallantias 2015-10-05 07:15 pm (UTC)(link)
[That actually gets a surprised look from the mostly unemotive assassin.] Really?

[It’s hard to imagine anyone not knowing what the Vault is, especially now that it’s been opened. So many people have killed and died in its name, it might as well be the closest thing the planet has to a god.

For her part, Athena’s never heard of this “Earth.” Perhaps it’s in such a distant or secluded region of the galaxy that they’re kept out of the loop of the going-ons of the rest of the galaxy.]

It’s… an alien… thing. [Even Athena is usually more eloquent than this, but trying to explain it now, she’s realizing that there really isn’t a good way to describe the Vault to an offworlder. It was supposed to be an Eridian treasure cache or maybe an armory, then ended up being a prison for a giant alien monster, and is now causing Pandora to crack open with veins of Eridium like a giant, rancid egg. At this point, nobody knows what the damn thing is. She tries again.]

It’s a large structure left by the Eridians, of unknown purpose. All anybody knows is that it’s extremely powerful and that opening it has caused Pandora to change on a planet-wide scale. Controlling it has become a top-priority objective for many corporations and other hostile factions. [Better. Kind of sounds like she's giving a mission briefing though. At least the stiff tone shifts to something more quizzical in her next question.]

Have they really never heard of it on “Earth?”
seeingscarlet: (girl; 034)

[personal profile] seeingscarlet 2015-10-08 03:08 am (UTC)(link)
[An alien thing. Right, that's descriptive. But the general situation sounds familiar, if on a much larger scale than Loki's scepter. Greed is a powerful, if awful motivation - some things don't change even galaxies away, apparently.]

We know of Asgard. We fought the Chitauri. But we don't have much contact with other planets.

[Science is still getting over the rather violent proof that life on Earth is not unique. Maybe one of those names will ring a bell? Wanda doesn't know much about the Chitauri, just that HYDRA was rather fond of poking and prodding at their toys. They could be near this 'Pandora' for all she knows.]
pallantias: (i'm lazy)

[personal profile] pallantias 2015-10-08 03:52 am (UTC)(link)
[Those names only get a questioning look from Athena. This “Earth” must be very remote indeed if they only know of one other planet. At least, Athena is assuming “Asgard” is a planet.]

The Chitauri? Is that a corporation? Or a gang?

[Those seem to be the two most likely categories if she’s talking about fighting them. Weird name though. Nothing like “Hyperion” or “Fleshrippers.”]
seeingscarlet: (concern; 005)

[personal profile] seeingscarlet 2015-10-09 01:13 am (UTC)(link)
They're a race. Part machine and very violent.

[A perfect match for certain people studying them if you ask her.]
pallantias: (1)

[personal profile] pallantias 2015-10-15 01:33 am (UTC)(link)
[Ah. So some kind of cyborg faction? That’s… odd, though she supposes it’s no more strange than the cannibal gangs or Vault worshippers they have on Pandora.]

Earth must be a border-planet as well, then. [At least, she’s pretty sure people in the core don’t have to deal with incursions by hostile cyborgs. Or any other beings besides the occasional corporation for that matter. Kind of the appeal of living there.]
