"From what I've heard, everyone is splitting up into two groups. Some of us are going to see what these other life signs are, see if we can't get the life support repair supplies necessary. The others are going to stay behind and try to repair the station as much as possible."

He is absolutely including himself in the former group. Because he's going. He's not a tech head. He'd be better able to help if he left.

"I think, those of us who have the most experience working with station systems should stick behind. They're going to need all the help they can get here -- and we've got at least two of the smartest engineers I've ever met. Pitch in wherever you can. If things start to deteriorate, you're probably the people best able to get a connection through to us on the other side."

And he spreads his hands.

"But that's as far as I've got. Any other ideas?"
