Synce their arrival, Avagi's residents have been plagued by minor system failures. Faulty taskbots and infested crawlspaces, supply shortages and the floods last month. For the most part, they've coped admirably, and quality of life aboard the station is substantially improved from what it was. But even as the damage in the lived-in space is scrubbed away, more dangerous poisons have been building underneath. On February 10, the groaning from the walls will escalate to a harsh scraping, audible station-wide. Then silence falls as the filtration systems die completely: leaving all vents to begin spewing thick, black smoke. |
System Failures | ||
(February 10-19) |
Acrid and hazardous, the cocktail of gases emerging from the vents are the result of three centuries' toxin storage spilling over. A shallow breath can cause a coughing fit, but individuals who draw in too much of the toxic air will find themselves becoming dizzy, passing out, or worse. While effects may vary based on individual biology, all beings who require breath will find their lungs burning and their vision blurred. An hour after the initial failure, the lighting goes out too. With it, all station power: to computers, doors, and any system not hooked up to its own supply.Investigation: Survival (Home Team): |
Travel (Away Team) | ||
(February 12-19) |
When Avagi's current population first got here, it was clear that others had inhabited the space before. Recent developments have even proven that these others—or, perhaps, their descendants—might still exist elsewhere on the station now. With the crystals that might repair your home missing, diplomacy is no longer an optional consideration. It's time to meet the neighbors, and hope they come in peace.Navigation: Survival: Discoveries: |

If there are negative consequences, the rest of you should not suffer for what has been my call since we first discovered her presence. If we're lucky, the rest of them will understand our caution and appreciate the efforts we took to acquire more useful information before making her presence public knowledge.
[ His hopeless smile leaves no doubt as to how likely he thinks that outcome is. ]
Considering uninhabitable condition of the station, it is very likely that this will be very slow-going. I'm not even entirely certain there is a navigable interior route from here to where she is. But confirming that will be more than we know now.

Well, if you're so insistent about it.
[He'd made his case, but he's not going to argue too hard about sharing the blame if the guy really wants to shoulder it all. Really, how many times does that ever happen?]
That's probably a given. Either way it's high time we tried cracking our way beyond our casa de refugee borders.

Right. The borders of the habitable areas are highlighted here. [ He points them out on the map. ] From what we've been able to determine, Mother is somewhere here, in the center of the station. The challenge is going to be getting there. With the decrepit condition of the station, many of these decks are unnavigable. Based on what limited information we have, Flynn and I have determined that our best bets are here and here.
[ He sighs. It's not much to go on. ]
So we may as well get started.

[Up until now they hadn't even had a clear idea of how big the station was until recently. At least now they have some kind of reference.]
Yeah, that's a given, 'specially considering how we found things even here in our cozy corner.
[Observing the areas pointed out, Cayde shrugs.]
Hey, better than nothing. Well uh. If there's nothing else, yeah. Let's get going.
