[open] do you know why the body is a prison?
Who: Sans and YOU! Open to literally everyone
When: Between this and the final judgment call on this.
Where: The Hold.
What: There's a skeleton in the dungeon, come let him rattle his bones at u
Warnings: Probably some mention of murder/death/etc! But mostly pretty tame, I imagine. Will edit if that changes.
The hold was incredible. Three solid walls, one semi-solid wall, a bench-bed hybrid that wrecked havoc on his back, and all the down time a skeleton could ask for. It was perfect. The best vacation he's ever had.
It'll be a real bummer once all of it goes away again.
Whatever the kid is up to, they're biding their time. And the few times a stray unpleasant thought passed through his skull, Sans is able to wave them away easily enough. He didn't care for thinking about Chara's dead body, so he didn't think about it. The worrying notion that, perhaps, this reality experienced time differently from what he knew...
Again: not thinking about it. The perfect cure, really.
Of course, he couldn't exactly stop people from visiting him here. With news spreading throughout the ship of what happened, more and more people were reaching out to him with why spelled out across their furrowed brows. Sans wished he could help them, sincerely. It would be a load off both their minds.
Too bad the answer was just too damn huge.
( ooc: feel free to visit sans in the hold any time, either before or after your character has 'cast their vote (or not)' on his fate. woo! )

"I'm surprised that no one is suggesting locking you up here for good, after all that's what we do to murderers back at home." As his voice becomes less joking and more serious, the more cold and mean does her tone turn.
"So, what do you think we should do with you?"

It was different for everyone, after all, what constituted murder and what constituted justice. Not that Sans necessarily agrees that there's any difference at all, but its not his opinion that matters, is it?
"Then again, I don't got a vote, so I'm not sure why you'd care what I think."

"You know, you just took someone else's life. A child's on top of that." she says slowly almost as she was telling him a bad joke. Her voice is steady and amused except for the last part where it wavers a little, bringing in some seriousness to her tone. "If that's not a murder then I don't know what is."
no subject
"Heh, right. A child. Welp, I guess we've all got our opinions." He waves a hand, vague as ever. "You should vote with your gut, it sounds like you've already made up your mind."
no subject
A small frown creeps to her face as she watches him, trying to read him.
"So, you don't care what I'm going to say? And what they're going to do with you?"

It's a simple, to the point answer to a huge, broad question. There's not a moment's hesitation or even any consideration time. By the time J's finished speaking, Sans has his answer prepped and ready.
"So no hard feelings, whatever you decide. You gotta be able to sleep at night."
no subject
Even though the answer he gives to her is just what she expected to hear, the way he says it is just surprisingly cold. Especially that last remark leaves a bad taste to her mouth. J squints her eyes a little, then turns her head away and stares at the ceiling, looking sullen.
They might have never addressed it but J knows that Sans is aware of her sleeping habits, or more like aware the occasional difficulties she had and the nightmares. Somehow that just makes his jab feel more personal than it's meant to.
"Fuck you. I can't sleep. Because of you."
no subject
"I'm sorry." He says, finally, with a sort of muted sincerity that's hard to fully communicate.

Oh, how nice it'd be to forget about this, forget about what had happened here on Moira and back at Emiri but J know's very well that won't be possible. She can always push the bad things away from her mind and adapt, but never fully forget. These will always come back to haunt her.
"Just," J sighs loudly, the irritation in her voice hiding away all the vulnerability, as she tries to find a way to get them back to Sans. After all, she didn't come here to talk about herself.
"Just tell me why? Was it worth it?"

Yes, of course it was, watching the little creature get skewered was the closest thing to revenge he had. The closest thing to keeping his brother safe.
No, of course it wasn't, it's a kid, and all this does is lock him in a fresh loop that only ends with his own death.
Sans laughs, caught completely between both options.
"Honestly?" He rubs at his eye socket, still laughing quietly to himself. "I've got no fuckin' idea."
no subject
She glances quickly at his direction and then back to the ceiling. "They said that you did it to protect your brother. Is that true?"
no subject
But it wasn't just Pap, and things weren't so clear cut.
Welp. As long as he's being honest.
"Yeah. Can't say it was the whole reason, though."
