Arrival

For those who most recently passed through the portals of energy that brought them here on a one-way trip, Avagi may be rather disorienting, but some areas are quite lively, and there are plenty of places to explore. As they make their way into their new home, they'll encounter new acquintances and a few pitfalls. As a result of the mini-dinosaurs burrowing for new hidey-holes, there's a rash of structural instability in the station. The worst has been patched up, but watch out—venture into the wrong area and a panel could clock you on the head. Due to a minor programming glitch, some of the taskbots originally designed to transport messages or small deliveries have found themselves on the same route, competing for space. Is this the saddest game of bumper cars ever or what? The portals to Kaittos are on the verge of fading away completely, but while many are being cautious and planning to conserve the resources gathered there, a small buffet has been set up inside the bar. Come make yourself a plate, but remember, this bounty is limited.

[She gives a little blink. Padmé isn't quite certain how it makes any sense. And, she misunderstands his meaning.]

You know of Coruscant then?

No, no, I'm from a place called Earth. I heard it from uh, some guy that's been here before.

Oh!

[A soft exclamation, although she pauses. A planet called earth? Dirt? Regardless, she isn't familiar with it.]

I see. Well, it is a pleasure to meet you-?

[Although she does look at him with a thoughtful expression. There is something that he isn't saying. And he had known her name.]

This man. Is he still here?

[he was hoping she wouldn't ask who the guy from her world was....but then again she wouldn't be Padme if she didn't, either.

My name's Badou. Nice to meet you...and no, he's been gone for awhile. Probably for the best.

[Supplying the name that she now knows. More likely than not, she assumes, that this individual isn't someone that she knows in any manner anyway, but she will store the information away for later.]

Mm. I suppose most people desire to return to where they come from.

[the way she says it-- well its not like its anything special. But from knowing her, Badou knows she'll probably try to remember it next time. That's just the type of person she is. A tiny fond smile curls at the corner of his mouth.]

Some, yeah. Some are way luckier and freer out here.

[It gives her something to think about. Padmé has work still to do back home. There are efforts to be made to avoid conflict, and there is also rescuing Obi-Wan.

Has anyone chosen to come here, do you know?

Chosen? I don't think so. Sound like everybody's been pulled from their worlds without warning. This isn't exactly a good place to advertise on Indeed dot com.

[Indeed dot comm... unication? She chalks it up to being from different places, and understands the main point of what he is trying to make. There aren't pamphlets or brochures trying to entice people to come here.]

Are they just pulled back in the same manner then, when they leave?

I think so, from what I've heard from the people who have come back a second time. Poor fucks...

Is it that common? For people to leave and return, I mean.

[Lest that seemingly vague statement get misunderstood.]

Sometimes-- there's definitely a pattern, but dunno why or anything. If it matters on the people or where we are....

Is there a roster of who has come and who has left?

There're plenty of types that make records, yeah, but if any of them kept while the chaos happened? Don't know.

There's no database where they would be stored?

[Or have they been destroyed as well?]

Now, as you see there's some history of this place, especially in the supposed thousands of years its been since we first got to that ship.....but I don't know how accurate that'd be.

[he certainly doesn't trust it]

But if you see the librarian, Elizabeth? I know she'll probably know some folks.

[Not that she thinks that she has misunderstood, but perhaps he has inadvertently misspoke?]

Supposedly. I'm not sure if I believe it's been that long, truly. Or if someone made a history book of propaganda....which is mostly what history is. I don't feel that old.

It does tend to be written by the victors.

[Whereas those who were vanquished generally do not have a say.]

Exactly. Not sure I like the odds of the history we've been told here. But like I said, there are people who've been here longer, are more anal about that stuff.

How long have you been here? .. or is that something that can be given with a straight forward answer?

Hey, I'm not that bad! Besides, mystery and hard boiled 'tudes go together....I've been here a little longer than a year.

I can't say that I've ever heard of those two going together...

[Although there is a hint of wry amusement in her voice.

Still. A year...]
