( closed ) the things you don't know

Who: Bruce Banner, Steve Rogers, Wanda Maximoff
When: Backdated to a few days ago.
Where: Mess hall.
What: Wanda and Steve have been keeping a secret from Bruce. Time to share.
Warnings: Bruce is going to get angry, so I guess there's that. He's not turning into the Hulk, though. At most, there will be some feelings in here.

Everything seemed to be steadily building up to something. What exactly, Bruce didn't know yet, but given his experience and his paranoia, it wasn't going to be anything good. What had happened down on the planet had been worrying enough, couple that with the dreams and the strange broadcast, it left him feeling a little on edge, visibly tense and worried about what else was going to happen next.

At least a few days in his cage helped him shake off that urge he had to stay on the planet. By now he outright disliked this planet, if nothing else then by the way that both 'sides' seemed to have the ability to get into people's heads. There was one monster too many in there already; he didn't need anyone else poking around, planting ideas or messing him up. He wanted to get out of here, and as far away from these people's reach as possible.

With a clearer mind, he went back to life on the ship, still pretty reluctant about getting down to the planet now. Still, when Steve got in touch and asked him to come by the mess hall, he assumed that the Captain was planning on some kind of mission to suss out what was going on, and while he really wasn't looking forward to that, if Steve thought that was their best move right now, then he'd do his part.

Stepping into the area and looking around, he spotted Steve, sitting on a table next to Wanda, and he made his way over, sparing a tired smile and a quiet greeting as he took a seat across from them.

"So, this looks like a party."

Since he'd arrived on the Moira, Steve hadn't been fond of the smaller details. Half the team was missing, and the time gap between some of them wasn't a particularly favorable option. It meant Steve (and Wanda) had to forego a certain amount of truths, and while he's better at lying through omission, he didn't think it set a good precedent for anyone. There were only so many times they could circle the obvious gap, and by the time he'd met up with Wanda in Avelle, everything had spiraled a bit too far out of control to actually contain. Contacting Bruce under the pretense of something else hadn't been easy, and Steve's not exactly comfortable in the mess hall as they wait.

He'd paced for a while, but eventually, the calmer thing to do had been to sit. And once Bruce joined them, he wasn't sure how to proceed. Having a file might have been quicker, but there hadn't been time to actually write it down. Steve glanced at Wanda before looking to Bruce and tentatively smiling back. Of course, it's short-lived and quiet, his expression mostly solemn now. He liked Bruce, which probably explained why it felt so personal, and as unkind as the past had been to all of them, their future hadn't gotten any better.

"Some party." It's said softly, a quirk of his mouth as if it could have been one had this heavy thing not been hanging over them. "We wanted you here so we could talk about things back home."

She's tense and nervous, jumping at the slightest noise and unable to look Bruce in the eye. This was all her idea, but talking about doing it and actually doing it are two wildly different things. It hadn't been so hard last time, but she hadn't known him very well then.

Now? If one good thing can come of this, maybe he will remember everything when he goes home. Maybe he can stop it before it starts or at the very least just not go to Johannesburg. She can't imagine any of them would mind if that part was rewritten.

"It's...not a good story. What do you know about what happens between our times?"
