Home design with programs
Who: Yori, Quorra, open!
When: Backdated to mid-June.
Where: Ingress Complex.
What: New neighbors meet.
Warnings: The programs will probably talk about canon program genocide, mass murder, and forced rewrites, but nothing's expected to happen in the thread.
open to all! Kauto or Ingress Complex:
Although wearing her armor to work every day has made her gradually more familiar with it, Yori still feels off-balance in the heavy blue shell.
The important point is, it covers the telltale green tint of her decontaminated hair. So many people are still panicking, with good reason.
She's made a trip to Kauto to spend part of her paycheck on an important backup energy supply: a battery that she can charge from the power in her room. It's not the first and won't be the last similar purchase. Her dependence on the Complex power supply is a weakness she's all too aware of.
The battery fits easily in her arms. Lighter but even more awkward to carry is a very large box of glittery blue stickers that claim to glow in the dark.
If they actually work, as some previous tests of glowing items have not, she plans to set aside half of them and make Rinzler let her decorate at least one of his hiding places. She's been slacking on her duties as his friend because Clu's presence in Kauto frightens her, but as long as she clears the timing with Rinzler it'll be fine. Probably.
Of course the light box of stickers makes every effort to jump out of her grasp. Yori sighs as it falls to clatter on the ground. Maybe she should have brought her PAC-disc along in spite of her worries about losing it and all its contents.
First meetings, closed to Quorra:
Just as Yori reaches the hallway outside her own apartment at last, the box of stickers makes one last desperate leap for freedom and manages to burst its packaging.
She shakes her head and kneels to scoop together the stars and stylized circuits on white backing paper. These had better work, or the shop is going to hear from her.
No one in this corridor has ever been hostile, but still, Yori tries to work fast. She'd really like to take her armor off at last and call this adventure complete.

She cups her hands and gathers some of the stickers together, gaze lifting to the woman with a hint of curiosity. "These are pretty neat. What are you using them for?"
no subject
Looking up, she blinks at the unfamiliar lady in a set of clothing that makes Yori feel like she ought to recognize it from somewhere. A lot of places might have a similar style, she reminds herself.
"Have we met? My name is Yori."
no subject
"Hm. I don't think -- " Wait. Yori? The name had instantly pinged familiar and Quorra pauses, blinks. She doesn't recognize her face -- she's never seen her in person -- but the name? She's heard that name many, many times over the cycles. Flynn had recounted his adventures with Tron and Yori in the ENCOM system so many times that Quorra could recite the story word-for-word, front to back.
Disbelief flickers across her face, then a wide smile. "Yori. As in Lora Baines' program Yori?" She holds an empty hand out, for a handshake. "I'm Quorra!"
no subject
She lets go and replies, "That's right. Not many people recognize me so fast."
While it's vaguely possible Alan-One has been talking about her, recognition through Alan-One should have included mention of his name as well as Lora's own.
"Sounds like we might have an acquaintance in common." And if it's not Alan-One, the only person in this system to have met Lora, then she's extremely curious who Quorra knew and where.
no subject
"Yeah, I think we do. You know Kevin Flynn, right? He told me about you and Tron, back when you guys were fighting against the Master Control Program in the ENCOM system. It's an amazing story."
no subject
"It was incredible," she agrees. "Listen, would you like to come to my apartment here? I definitely need to hear more about this."
The names are proof enough, and none of the things Yori wants to ask or to say about Flynn or Tron or Alan or Clu are things she wants to discuss at length in the hallway.
She closes the battered box on its stickers, scrambles to her feet, and nods in the direction of her apartment door, unlabeled except for the number 08.
no subject
"Yeah, for sure. Let's go." She pads the few steps over to the apartment behind Yori, then gestures to her own apartment a couple doors down. "That's mine, over in ten. Looks like we're sort of neighbors." She's actually a little relieved to learn that Yori is so close by; it'd be nice to possibly have a friendly face nearby.

She unseals her apartment door and holds it open. "Welcome to life on the Ingress Complex, then! It's all the space I need, though some people complain about the size." The little room is private and convenient to Yori's work as an Ingress technician, that's what matters most to her.
A few glowing stars mark the room's dimness, but they're an odd sickly green. Yori turns the light on swiftly and pulls a spindly chair out from the corner.
The small apartment, when lit, is washed in shades of blue from the hanging globes to the bedspread and table. There's a power transfer conduit attached to one wall, plugged into station energy.
"I'd be happy to help you get settled into yours," Yori offers. She can certainly attest that it's not easy adjusting to the entire idea of User-style decoration and stores.
