"There will be no prison which can hold our movement down."

The Ingress has pulled you in. Your body experiences several sensations at once: being pushed forward as if a hand is resting on your back, momentary and startling blindness, a gentle ringing in your head. You have difficulty discerning whether it is hot or cold, but where you have been prodded is noticeably warmer than the rest of you. Some may suffer from dizziness while others are perfectly fine. Once equilibrium has been reestablished, you will notice you are standing on a long platform and that the room is filled with a soft cerulean light. It's slightly humid and dark despite the glow around you, and nothing is familiar.

Yet, unlike most new crew arrivals, this one is in the middle of chaos.

Despite more recent events, the planet of Emiri is not as peaceful as it once was. Frederick Link is still missing, and the authorities of Emiri have yet to lift the interplanetary ban they have placed on all space crafts docked at the aerospace. The captains previous held a meeting asking crew for any and all information that might help them locate the Komai, a mysterious group determined to undermine Link'd Inc's work providing flourishing matches across the universe by causing random acts of violence and protest across the three main cities: Harashan, Avelle, and St. Murtel. These things have led to mass arrests as well as an unsettling atmosphere spreading across the planet, and since a previous broadcast, things are beginning to escalate.

A downward spiral of these events begins as soon as new arrivals start to leave the Ingress—an unmarked box arrives in the cargo bay addressed to the inhabitants of the Moira. As per his job, Niko Bellic is the one to discover this box and open it. For some, the contents may be particularly gruesome. Link’s body is inside, clothed in a simple white button-down and pants (no shoes), and it looks as if letters have begun to bleed through the material. Anyone with expert knowledge of torture may note that Link was, in fact, tortured for information, and those letters? The writing itself spells out the name St. Murtel.

The captains, having been alerted of this, make an attempt to contact those at Link’d Inc. Unfortunately, the damage has already been done.

☄ First: MISCOMMUNICATION
Somehow, whether intentional or not, the Komai have once again hacked public systems and networks to brand those of the Moira as the ones behind these terroristic acts. They still use their own name, but the images are different, focusing on familiar faces wearing the ship’s uniforms and traveling to the Aerospace to return to the Moira. Not only that, there are short recordings of Link’s final words that mention a very recognizable name: Captain Thán. The Komai have redirected the blame to the Moira and its crew for their own means, and in response, any and all crew who are captured by authorities will immediately be detained and shipped out to unknown locations. The Captains send a message via MID and request everyone return to the ship to prevent this from happening. Yet, not all messages will be delivered depending on how far away they are.

With everyone’s safety hanging in the balance, the Captains have decided to take things into their own hands and find a way to lift the block on the Moira so they can leave Emiri’s orbit and avoid further repercussions regardless of whether or not any one of the crew wants to stay.

☄ Second: DECOY & DISTRACT
After learning that Benjamin Link, son of recently deceased Frederick Link, knows how to unlock the ship so they can leave, the captains ask for volunteers to act as decoys on a mission to the Aerospace in Harashan. Their job is to distract guards and Emiri citizens, leaving the path clear for Benjamin to get to the computers. The captains reiterate that they are to use nonfatal methods as they don’t want a repeat of the events on Caducus Primary. Without his help, the ship won’t be able to leave, making this mission critical and extremely time sensitive.

☄ Third: RESCUE
During the mission, Benjamin informs the crew that the Komai aren’t incorrect in their claims that Link’d Inc uses unforgivable means to obtain information in order to make their matches perfect. The children the crew dreamed about are just two of many—the offspring of Emirian citizens who had gone missing. It has long been suspected that Link’d Inc was involved in their disappearances, but only recently has the Komai done anything to shed light on these gruesome rumors. Benjamin, after successfully unlocking the ship, disables the security systems in St. Murtel, which will allow the children a chance to escape. They’ll need assistance in getting out of St. Murtel and to a pre-designated area in Avelle where a group of Komai and Emirians will be waiting for them.

But be careful. If anyone is recognized as part of the crew, they will be placed under arrest for treason and possibly never heard from again.

☄ Fourth: BREAKING OUT
Now that the computer systems in Harashan’s Aerospace have been used to release the Moira, the entire crew are being called back via MID for an expedient exit from Emiri. Crew will be asked to assist other Moirans in getting back to the ship as quickly as possible via transporters or other small crafts as leaving is their only option at this point. In the escape, Emiri launches an attack on the Moira in an attempt to stop them. The ship’s previously unused defense systems activate, and those assigned to those positions are required to man their posts. Perhaps even those who don’t have the clearance are needed. Either way, it’s time to leave.

☄ Fifth: REFUGEES
Now that the ship has finally escaped Emiri’s orbit, the crew will notice a group of stragglers in the main hall. During the crew’s quick exit, about fifty Emirians have taken refuge aboard the Moira, and the captains have agreed to take them to the closest planet so they may start again or live a life free of Link’d Inc “rule”. The captains ask the crew to help get them clothes and food for their short stay, no longer than a day at most, and to occupy them as best they can. Tell jokes, sing songs, bring up the kittens so that everyone can attempt to wind down after this series of unfortunate events. Light entertainment won’t be provided, but on request, some crew members may do just that.

He does hunch a lot, Trish noted it when they first met, that way he has of trying to make himself small. It makes her just want to grab him by the shoulders and straighten him up, but that reminds her of her mother and that's just a place within herself she really doesn't feel like examining too closely.

She presses her hand against the cotton wool, hoping that whatever he just gave her will be effective and quick.

"If I say something about kissing it better you'll have a heart attack or something, right?"

Is she maybe trying to fluster him a tiny bit on purpose now? Yes. Because she is in pain and he is pretty entertaining when he starts stumbling all over himself because he doesn't know how to deal.

Yes, she did make a mental note not to make flirty jokes with him but since he actually took it pretty well after the initial fluster before she decides to risk it again because why not. It's just some friendly teasing after all.
hyperkinesia: (It's alright.)

[personal profile] hyperkinesia 2016-02-07 01:00 pm (UTC)(link)
It's stronger than him. Sometimes he tries to make himself stop doing it, straighten up just a little, but he just feels safer like this, more guarded, both protecting himself from outside influences and keeping something very dangerous inside. The weight he carries around might be a lot easier to handle these days, but it's still plenty noticeable to those paying enough attention.

And she is right, it does fluster him a little, again. But this time he does adapt, smiling sheepishly as he steals a glance at her while checking her arm, then replacing the cotton with a bandaid, trying his best to return the teasing with some of his own.

"Oh, I don't know... I think you'd have to buy me dinner first, I'm not that easy."

[personal profile] notpatsy 2016-02-07 01:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Trish meets his gaze when she catches that glance, smiling a little while having an internal 'oh no, he's cute' moment because he really, really is.

"For a little kiss on the arm? Good thing I'm not trying to get a proper kiss here, I might go broke."

hyperkinesia: (It's not you I don't trust.)

[personal profile] hyperkinesia 2016-02-07 01:13 pm (UTC)(link)
He's a about three decades too old to be getting called cute right now, he's just a dork, really. An awkward dork that doesn't yet realize that this kind of counts as flirting.

"Well, yes. I'm not some cheap date, sorry to tell you."

[aurelia is a little disgusted by the similarity of rick's solution to jack's, but she opts not to say anything. at the end of the day, unless he actually personally does it, she doesn't give a shit.]

In an ideal world, darling. There's certainly a big enough résolveur de problèmes down in the cargo bay.

Yes, he does.

[ That's the easiest answer. The rest requires a moment's thought. ]

These labs, they were in that other world? Those who did such things are unable to hurt them now?
notpatsy: (beautiful lean)

[personal profile] notpatsy 2016-02-07 01:15 pm (UTC)(link)
It really kind of does. Trish is very much aware of that fact, but she doesn't really mind. It's not like it's actually going anywhere after all, it's just fun, and a pretty good distraction from her bumps and bruises.

"Good thing I'm rich."
hyperkinesia: (How's he doing?)

[personal profile] hyperkinesia 2016-02-07 01:21 pm (UTC)(link)
"So does this mean I've hit a goldmine? Perfect, I won't have to work another day in my life."

That's much the reason why he doesn't mind the little exchange, because it's not serious and it does distract from everything that's been going down as of late. Once he's finished patching up the small prick in her skin, he throws the cotton in the trash, smiling up at her.

"How's that? Feeling the effects yet?"
notpatsy: (huh?)

[personal profile] notpatsy 2016-02-07 01:26 pm (UTC)(link)
"You can be my trophy doctor."

She smiles back at him and nods a little.

"You have a nice smile."

Oh crap, really? Saying stupid shit because of painkillers? She thought she got away from cliches like that when she quit acting.

"Translation: yep, the meds are kicking in."

It wasn't as reassuring as perhaps he'd hoped it to be. Fenris' expression hardened at the word monster. But when he asserted that he had magic and then used it in front of him, the lyrium markings poking out of Fenris' clothes ignited in white light.

Now he was even more convinced that he was in the presence of a demon.

"Magic is far from harmless," he replied, voice a low, threatening growl. "And if you mean these people harm, I will kill you."
scowls: (003)

[personal profile] scowls 2016-02-07 01:33 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Some of his tension fades at the strange word. Science. He has no idea what that means. ]

It was lyrium. Not this... science.

[ It sounds odd on his tongue. His nose wrinkles briefly, then his gaze drops to the ants. He studies them for a moment, then looks at the human in front of him. ]

They are trained?

[ He looks and sounds doubtful. He has never known anyone to train ants before. ]
hyperkinesia: (I wouldn't have come.)

[personal profile] hyperkinesia 2016-02-07 01:44 pm (UTC)(link)
"You'll create a new trend and everything."

Because he's pretty sure trophy doctors aren't a thing. Trophy Avengers, however...

He smiles at her words again, looking down for a moment, nodding at the explanation that follows suit.

"That's good to know. I mean, that they're kicking in, not that you think I have a nice smile. Though, that's-- that's nice of you to say too. Thanks. You have a very nice smile, too."

Bruce's just tripping all over his own words here.

While Gregor is leaving, Aurelia is on her way back.

It's been a fun few days, and she's very pleased about being able to shoot lots of people (though, not so much about that little kerfuffle with with the Real Clark...) but she got absolutely no loot and there's not enough ammo around to keep it up. Very annoying. 0/10, would not recommend this planet for low key murder sprees.

Anyway, she's just outside the ship transporter, waiting impatiently, rubbing at some dried blood on her jacket sleeve with a sour expression. When it arrives, she slings her sniper up into her back and taps the officer's baton she stole against her palm - not that she has any intention of attacking anyone... she just thinks it would look cool.
notpatsy: (leaning)

[personal profile] notpatsy 2016-02-07 01:55 pm (UTC)(link)
"You think so? Thanks."

She finds that she really is genuinely pleased that he likes her smile. Hm. Might have to keep an eye on this situation so it doesn't turn into something stupid.

She tries to get on her feet, but finds the mission only partially successful since the room starts spinning a little and she has to grab Bruce's shoulder to stop herself from sinking to the floor like some sort of wilting flower.

"You really are a good guy. I'm sorry people don't see that because of... you know."

After Johannesburg even she had been a little unsure what to think, mostly because she didn't really know much about his condition, the lack of control that comes with it. To a lot of people, it probably seems like he just decided to turn on those he is supposed to be protecting.

hyperkinesia: (It's a nightmare.)

[personal profile] hyperkinesia 2016-02-07 02:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Luckily he has somewhat good reflexes, and he catches her before she actually falls to the floor. He should've told her not to move to begin with, he realizes, but he kind of assumed she wasn't going to try and get up so soon.

He opens his mouth to say something, when she brings up his condition in a roundabout way. His expression tensing a little, he isn't smiling quite as much now, though he does offer a quiet word back to her.

"Thanks."

He really doesn't know if he'd call himself a 'good guy' at this point, honestly. Destroying an entire planet, then two months later finding out that sometime in his future he's going to level an entire city after going on a wild rampage, it doesn't do wonders for the sense of humanity in him.

It's a little like that. Some days he's more of a man, others he feels closer to a monster. Lately the scale has been tipping more towards the latter.

He says nothing more about that, though, nodding to the table that she just got down from.

"Sit back down. We have some medi-gel around, it'll heal your cuts and scrapes in seconds. Then you really need to lie down. Looks like you'll need a hand if you want to go back to your room, though."
notpatsy: (fuck you)

[personal profile] notpatsy 2016-02-07 02:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Trish has a great deal of tolerance for people doing things when they are under the influence of something they can't control, for obvious reasons, and since Bruce told her a little more about how his condition works well... she really can't hold it against him.

She sits back down with a frustrated huff.

"I can handle it."

No she can't.
hyperkinesia: (Do you have somewhere for me to work?)

[personal profile] hyperkinesia 2016-02-07 02:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Maybe she can't blame him, much like a lot of people on the ship don't, but he still holds it against himself, and still blames himself for what happened. No matter how little in control he might have been during those incidents.

"No, you can't. I'm not calling you weak or anything, but if you go like this on your own, you're going to end up flat on your face on some hallway somewhere. And I really would like it if you managed not to get yourself hurt even more."

There, alright? He cares. Now stop it.

"I'll take you myself, if I have to."
knaval: (to wave bye)

decoy, lmk if this ain't alright

[personal profile] knaval 2016-02-07 02:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Riptide has been trying to stay out of sight. He really has. At one point, he'd transformed into his boat mode and sat in the middle of the street. That had... drawn more attention, if anything. He's seriously considering just sprinting back to the ship and trying to forget this entire thing. He can't, though, so he's had to do what he can to help the crew members while trying not to draw too much attention. It's a delicate mission, one Riptide, of all bots, should never have been involved in.

Where Furiosa wrecks the guard, he's crouched nearby, peering around the corner. He'd picked up the life signs on his scanner and wanted to see if it was a crew member needing a hand. A very large hand. She seems to have the situation under control, in the... GBH way. Oh, well. Not much to be done.

"He didn't manage to get you or anything, did he?" Riptide asks, hesitantly and gingerly. You never know.
notpatsy: (sceptical)

[personal profile] notpatsy 2016-02-07 02:22 pm (UTC)(link)
In some ways she thinks Bruce and Jessica would kind of get along. Maybe that's why she gets along so well with him too.

"If you have to? Wow, way to make a woman feel wanted there, Banner."

She's just teasing him again, but there is a certain stubborn set to her (sore) jaw that means she is still going to try to walk on her own when he's gotten the gel on her.
hyperkinesia: (He really grows on you doesn't he?)

[personal profile] hyperkinesia 2016-02-07 02:26 pm (UTC)(link)
"Sorry, let me rephrase that. I'd like to take you back to your room, if you just let me."

And he hears it the moment it's out of his mouth. Wincing, he looks at her with an expression that's partly apologetic and partly embarrassed.

"I mean, to help you back to your bed. No, wait. The-- just to make sure you make it there alright, and I'm just... going to stitch up my mouth now. Sorry."

For now he'll distract himself by opening a jar of the medi-gel and starting to apply it to whatever wounds she has.
notpatsy: (smile)

[personal profile] notpatsy 2016-02-07 02:32 pm (UTC)(link)
And Trish is just going to have herself a nice little gigglefit because that is equal parts endearing, cute, and hilarious.

"We're terrible at making conversation with each other."

Actually she thinks they're pretty great at it, but wow.
hyperkinesia: (I wouldn't have come.)

[personal profile] hyperkinesia 2016-02-07 02:35 pm (UTC)(link)
He shakes his head, dabbing a little bit of medi-gel and spreading it on her injuries, looking her over to make sure he doesn't miss any of them. Besides, it's good distraction from how much he's just embarrassed himself back there.

"We really are. Maybe we should just stop talking entirely."
notpatsy: (beautiful lean)

[personal profile] notpatsy 2016-02-07 02:37 pm (UTC)(link)
"I think I'd miss it."

Not that they have talked that much, but he still is pretty much her only friend on board at the moment, and she really does like him.
hyperkinesia: (So he's building another portal.)

[personal profile] hyperkinesia 2016-02-07 02:42 pm (UTC)(link)
"Then you'll just have to put up with terrible jokes and me possibly embarrassing myself every so often, then back-pedalling in an attempt to salvage our conversation."

Finished with the medi-gel, he puts the lid back on the jar, then goes over to a sink nearby to wash his hands. Her wounds should close in a matter of seconds now, healed completely by the miraculous gel.

"You're all set. You just need some rest now, and possibly do a follow-up in a few days, to make sure your ribs are healing alright."
hyperkinesia: (Makes play he's still a man.)

[ Well, putting what little he was told together made him think of that almost instantly. He didn't know how correct of a notion it was, though he'd fill in on the gaps with whatever bits and pieces of information he got from Sans.

A monster wouldn't have been the word he'd use, but then he did have a pretty set idea of what a monster was, physically and otherwise. Different worlds, though - he couldn't help notice that Sans didn't seem to use it as a pejorative term. ]

I'll try, but no promises. I'm a science man through and through. [ He'd seen a lot here, sure, but some things he still had a hard time wrapping his head around. Magic was right at the top of that list. ]

Do you have any other monsters with you here? The monsters from your world, I mean.
