"There will be no prison which can hold our movement down."

The Ingress has pulled you in. Your body experiences several sensations at once: being pushed forward as if a hand is resting on your back, momentary and startling blindness, a gentle ringing in your head. You have difficulty discerning whether it is hot or cold, but where you have been prodded is noticeably warmer than the rest of you. Some may suffer from dizziness while others are perfectly fine. Once equilibrium has been reestablished, you will notice you are standing on a long platform and that the room is filled with a soft cerulean light. It's slightly humid and dark despite the glow around you, and nothing is familiar.

Yet, unlike most new crew arrivals, this one is in the middle of chaos.

Despite more recent events, the planet of Emiri is not as peaceful as it once was. Frederick Link is still missing, and the authorities of Emiri have yet to lift the interplanetary ban they have placed on all space crafts docked at the aerospace. The captains previous held a meeting asking crew for any and all information that might help them locate the Komai, a mysterious group determined to undermine Link'd Inc's work providing flourishing matches across the universe by causing random acts of violence and protest across the three main cities: Harashan, Avelle, and St. Murtel. These things have led to mass arrests as well as an unsettling atmosphere spreading across the planet, and since a previous broadcast, things are beginning to escalate.

A downward spiral of these events begins as soon as new arrivals start to leave the Ingress—an unmarked box arrives in the cargo bay addressed to the inhabitants of the Moira. As per his job, Niko Bellic is the one to discover this box and open it. For some, the contents may be particularly gruesome. Link’s body is inside, clothed in a simple white button-down and pants (no shoes), and it looks as if letters have begun to bleed through the material. Anyone with expert knowledge of torture may note that Link was, in fact, tortured for information, and those letters? The writing itself spells out the name St. Murtel.

The captains, having been alerted of this, make an attempt to contact those at Link’d Inc. Unfortunately, the damage has already been done.

☄ First: MISCOMMUNICATION
Somehow, whether intentional or not, the Komai have once again hacked public systems and networks to brand those of the Moira as the ones behind these terroristic acts. They still use their own name, but the images are different, focusing on familiar faces wearing the ship’s uniforms and traveling to the Aerospace to return to the Moira. Not only that, there are short recordings of Link’s final words that mention a very recognizable name: Captain Thán. The Komai have redirected the blame to the Moira and its crew for their own means, and in response, any and all crew who are captured by authorities will immediately be detained and shipped out to unknown locations. The Captains send a message via MID and request everyone return to the ship to prevent this from happening. Yet, not all messages will be delivered depending on how far away they are.

With everyone’s safety hanging in the balance, the Captains have decided to take things into their own hands and find a way to lift the block on the Moira so they can leave Emiri’s orbit and avoid further repercussions regardless of whether or not any one of the crew wants to stay.

☄ Second: DECOY & DISTRACT
After learning that Benjamin Link, son of recently deceased Frederick Link, knows how to unlock the ship so they can leave, the captains ask for volunteers to act as decoys on a mission to the Aerospace in Harashan. Their job is to distract guards and Emiri citizens, leaving the path clear for Benjamin to get to the computers. The captains reiterate that they are to use nonfatal methods as they don’t want a repeat of the events on Caducus Primary. Without his help, the ship won’t be able to leave, making this mission critical and extremely time sensitive.

☄ Third: RESCUE
During the mission, Benjamin informs the crew that the Komai aren’t incorrect in their claims that Link’d Inc uses unforgivable means to obtain information in order to make their matches perfect. The children the crew dreamed about are just two of many—the offspring of Emirian citizens who had gone missing. It has long been suspected that Link’d Inc was involved in their disappearances, but only recently has the Komai done anything to shed light on these gruesome rumors. Benjamin, after successfully unlocking the ship, disables the security systems in St. Murtel, which will allow the children a chance to escape. They’ll need assistance in getting out of St. Murtel and to a pre-designated area in Avelle where a group of Komai and Emirians will be waiting for them.

But be careful. If anyone is recognized as part of the crew, they will be placed under arrest for treason and possibly never heard from again.

☄ Fourth: BREAKING OUT
Now that the computer systems in Harashan’s Aerospace have been used to release the Moira, the entire crew are being called back via MID for an expedient exit from Emiri. Crew will be asked to assist other Moirans in getting back to the ship as quickly as possible via transporters or other small crafts as leaving is their only option at this point. In the escape, Emiri launches an attack on the Moira in an attempt to stop them. The ship’s previously unused defense systems activate, and those assigned to those positions are required to man their posts. Perhaps even those who don’t have the clearance are needed. Either way, it’s time to leave.

☄ Fifth: REFUGEES
Now that the ship has finally escaped Emiri’s orbit, the crew will notice a group of stragglers in the main hall. During the crew’s quick exit, about fifty Emirians have taken refuge aboard the Moira, and the captains have agreed to take them to the closest planet so they may start again or live a life free of Link’d Inc “rule”. The captains ask the crew to help get them clothes and food for their short stay, no longer than a day at most, and to occupy them as best they can. Tell jokes, sing songs, bring up the kittens so that everyone can attempt to wind down after this series of unfortunate events. Light entertainment won’t be provided, but on request, some crew members may do just that.

. . .Yes?

[ She looks worse for the wear. His own instincts kick in to approach her. He knows exactly what it feels like to use too much power all at once and he actually know how to help with her problem. ]

If you don't mind I can get you back up to speed.

[ Long enough for her head to stop swimming pain if the backlash from her powers is anything like his own. ]

I can use magic, but I suppose you already know that if you know my name.

[ What a cutie. She'll give him that. ]

Thanks. [ Even if it isn't really hers. ] Are you trying to flirt with me? [ She pointed out teasingly, waving him along to follow down a hall. How hard can it be to find something fun to do around here? She does have a gadget on her wrist and it probably has a labelled map. ]

Flattering me won't make me go easy on you. [ A smirk. ] But I promise I'll patch up the wounds in your pride later.

Can't say I know much about it, but judging from what I've seen, I think it's time we set sail, so to speak.

[Ocelot sort of relies on Miller right now until he gets used to living a life as a passenger on a space ship.]

Maybe we can at least get something out of this stop.

[Should they need any supplies or anything.]

"Ah, they've filled the other bed in here." With a teenage boy, but not hers. Hers is still presumably on the road where she left him, tearing all the nearby towns apart looking for her. Well, she supposes her life was short on trouble. She wonders if this one is yet another uncontrolled mage. She doubts that's likely, however fitting it would be considering her life in recent years. Elsa probably isn't going to be happy about the added person, though. Not given how reluctant she was at first to let people near her at all. She's making progress.

"Hello. I'm Rosethorn."

Rosethorn | Open (Gardens or Medbay), then closed to Peter

[personal profile] earthandpine 2016-02-06 03:12 am (UTC)(link)
Rosethorn has fallen into a routine in the past month. Unsurprisingly, the majority of that involves time spent in the garden. She's there every day, and a lot of nights for midnight prayers. Since she's stuck on this ship, she probably ought to go back to keeping temple hours. Rosethorn doesn't have the excuse of being on the road anymore.

She makes medicines in the closed off part of the garden, harvests, waters, transplants, meditates, kneels in front of the altar with some of her very limited stock of incense from home burning... Tiny kittens enjoy interfering in the solemnity of any prayers by climbing all over Rosethorn as she says them. They interfere in most things, and earn themselves stern talkings to on a regular basis.

Despite preferring plants to people a vast majority of the time, she really does try to remember that this is a communal garden. It's the only bit of greenery anyone has access to in this enormous metal box of a ship, and she doesn't get to keep it to herself and guard it quite as zealously as she might her garden at home.

Mostly Rosethorn ignores other people in the garden unless they speak to her first or she's already acquainted with them. Of course, if you want to see her angry, just mistreat a single one of her plants and she will threaten to hang you in a well. It doesn't matter that there's no well on board. She'll figure something out.

--

Because she does spend so much time with medicines and have an understanding of how to triage injuries, she can be found in the med bay offering help in the initial rush after the refugees' arrival. She can at the very least help supplement stores of medicines, but she's a willing pair of hands if doctors are in too short a supply. Her vows say she'll help anyone who needs it, even if Rosethorn does hate playing nursemaid.

--

[For Peter]

Rosethorn would just like to say straight off that she did not volunteer for this buddy system. She's only been here a month herself, and she's hardly what anyone's first impression should be. Rosethorn is good with plants. Not people.

But when she considers ignoring that message, Rosethorn feels a small jab of guilt. This isn't like getting paired with Bruce on that ridiculous matchmaking planet, where they both decided to avoid reaching out. She's denying a helping hand to someone who may be as frustrated and confused as she was a month ago. It isn't long before she gives in.

Peter will get a message on his MID. "Hello. My name is Rosethorn. I was assigned to help you get acclimated for the ship. If you need anything, just respond and I can come meet you."

[The laugh causes Asriel's shoulders to relax, a more genuine smile tugging at his mouth. After Sans makes his offer to accompany him, Asriel gives him a small nod.]

... That sounds great. I'm not sure if I could find it on my own anyway, ha ha.

[He'll let Sans take the lead, but Asriel will follow along closely. It still felt awkward, and Asriel wonders if he should start thinking up a decent answer in case Sans does start asking more personal questions, but the growl of his stomach causes that thought to vanish.]

So um, Sans? Are there other monsters here too?

Frisk adjusts their grip on Ginko's hand to make it more comfortable for both of them, but they don't say anything about the awkwardness of his grasp. Once that's done they lead Ginko along through the halls, trying to remember where the last elevator they saw was.

"Is your hair dyed like that? It's really pretty."

[Frisk's nose wrinkles up in distaste.] I don't like uniforms, they're always itchy! Do I gotta wear it?

I already got a phone, though. I can just get their numbers. [Frisk starts fishing in their pocket to pull out the phone, but pauses when Zam mentions the dangers on-planet.]

Why? Is someone trying to hurt us? [They don't sound worried when they ask that. Quite the opposite, they sound more like they're trying to figure out how to tackle the problem.]

[ she smiles, laughter tripping through to her voice.]

I do appreciate the warning. I've had quote enough with big shocks this week.

[ a pause and then she adds.]

I've heard that word before. I didn't get the name of the ah... Individual, but when I was with them, that's what they referred to their form as.

"...No? It just looks like this."
rraidergirl: (Remember how to smile)

[personal profile] rraidergirl 2016-02-06 03:39 am (UTC)(link)
[ she actually laughs a little at that, soft and quiet but real.]

If there is, I haven't found it. But don't worry, the food isn't nearly as bad as the place looks. [ she thinks a moment.] There's a garden, but I'm not sure you want to try eating anything being grown there. I'm not even sure if most of it's edible.

Perhaps it was shortsighted of him to view Fenris as purely a fun novelty. Brow bone drawn low with faint disapproval, Sans' grin grew somewhat more fixed. Created to kill... Mindsets like that could be a problem for him and his.

Nothing a little kindness couldn't cure though, assuredly. Sans kept his tone light.

"Not sure you'd appreciate the distinction, but I'm a monster." He explained, gesturing to himself. "Instead of blood, we've got magic. It's pretty simple. See?"

As if to demonstrate, he conjured the smallest, most pathetic bone he could and tossed it carelessly to the ground where it promptly disappeared again.

"Harmless."
notyetsore: (are you talking to me)

[He nods, slowly. That makes sense.]

I've heard there are.

[personal profile] seeingscarlet 2016-02-06 03:47 am (UTC)(link)
It's close enough. They were taken from their parents, forced to help Link'd Inc... [And many of them die, if the clips the Komai broadcast were true. Wanda didn't probe too much; she would have been furious beyond the point of being able to stay in control.]

I don't know what they were doing to them, not yet. But we did free everyone in the lab.

It wasn't easy. Your friend must have a lot of work.
notyetsore: (ok i'll stop talking about glowing bugs)

[personal profile] notyetsore 2016-02-06 03:47 am (UTC)(link)
They may have meant that as a compliment, but it doesn't seem to land as one. Ginko's shoulders tense a little, his gaze flicking away.

"...Yeah."
seeingscarlet: (downcast; 030)

[personal profile] seeingscarlet 2016-02-06 03:55 am (UTC)(link)
[Wanda shakes her head.]

We were an opportunity. It was easy to blame us for Link's death after... [After Caducus Primary; surely word gets around the galaxy. It's a wonder they were allowed to land at all.]

Whatever happens on Emiri, it will not be easy. But I know that there are children who are safe with their families tonight because we helped. Not everyone would have stayed.
gainedlove: (* Don't Pick On)

Whoops. Apparently that wasn't the right ACT to choose...time to try a different tack.

"Um...you know! I've never been in space before, it's pretty neat! I bet you can see tons more stars than in the city. Do you think our rooms are gonna have windows?"

*Zam reaches towards them, and Chara's arms are safely out of the way, out of grabbing range. The foot with most of their weight springs out from under them instead, making them pitch back with a shocked cry, elbows first. Pain, they landed on barely-padded joints, and it's made them cry out through clenched teeth. That drone-like confidence is gone, and it's left them blinkng hugely, face twisted.*

*They shouldn't have fallen. There was no one else there.* Wh--what did you--?!

*Their eyes are crossing. It's like an optical illusion with no clues for what's close and what's not. Her arm is long, but she's still human, and for a moment Chara can't think of anything but but the horrified revelation humans here are all upgraded, and Chara's so fucked..*

*They don't get much further than that before they're crab-scrambling back as fast as they can. If she lets go, they'll scramble a little more and shove themselves to their feet. If she doesn't, they'll swing their free foot against the arm to try to break her grip.

[That why is exactly what Pepper would like to know, thank you very much. But at the moment, Loki's goals seem to fall in line with hers: play decoy, let Benjamin Link get to the computers, and get off this blasted planet before things get worse. She doesn't want to press too much in case Loki changes his mind--plus, there are plenty of other questions she's got when he scoffs at her titles.

Like why hadn't that name rang any bells?]

I don't think there's anyone in the world who wouldn't recognize you. [He'd led an alien invasion, after all, confirming the existence of extraterrestrial life as he attacked one of the most prominent cities on Earth. But he doesn't react to Stark's name, and Asgardian prince or not, Tony isn't the sort of person anyone just forgets.

Unless they've never known him. Pepper's eyes widen as the question enters her mind: could Loki be from a point in time even further back than herself, or Bruce?]

The Avengers. Have you heard of them? [Have they beaten you is what she really wants to ask, but outing herself as affiliated with his enemies hadn't been her brightest idea. Far worse to establish them as that when it looks like they've got an advantage. She'll have to tell Tony right away, along with Bruce and Steve.]

[Frisk smiles with sympathy--they know what must be going through Asriel's mind right now, the relief and regret and faint jealousy. They've heard it before from another source, after all.]

[They wish Chara would let them tell Asriel. But those are their secrets to tell, not Frisk's.]

Uh huh. Everyone is busy, really--Sans actually cut back on his naps to help, too! ...well, he's making jokes more than helping, but you know. ...things will get better. I'm gonna do my best to help them both, okay?

Yeah. Am I not being obvious enough?

[He follows after her, sighing under his breath at the pace.]

You're talking a big game here, Sif. I'm going to be almost disappointed when I beat you. I'll try not make it too embarrassing. Since I'm flirting and all.

[ Fortunately getting off this planet benefits him as much as it does anyone else. Contrary to popular belief he isn't psychotic enough to damn himself while harming others. As if he'd let himself get hurt on purpose.

The world, hm? Her wording finally makes it clear he should be careful what he says. Humans are easy to spot when they think the universe is so infinitesimally small and they are the only planet that matters. So this is Pepper Potts, CEO of Stark Industries--whatever that means.

He keeps his casual smile even as he scrutinizes her. He hasn't been down to Midgard in literal ages but the impression he left, along with everyone else, had to have faded with time into legend. A thousand years or so tends to do that.

Another thing to consider is that she recognized him in sight. If they came from one universe into another she could be from a different timeline where her skepticism might be warranted. Where he had too much fun, perhaps? He always gets carried away with his plans.

Somehow they've met and she knows to be afraid. The same as the woman with her red streaks of power oddly reminiscent of chaos magic. ]

"I call it the only one there." Sans was arguably keeping his chill a little more neatly than Ratchet. Then again, when you only had two speeds, 'asleep' and 'awake,' chill tended to be the perpetual order of the day.
