[closed] RAID LOG
Who: Those selected for Atarah’s retrieval mission
When: June 22nd
Where: Earth 91c, on the outskirts of Eastgate
What: Atarah’s mercenaries raid an Extinctionist hideout to take back… something.
Warnings: Possible violence
(OOC Note: To help you on this mission, Atarah has allowed an AI adviser of hers, named Alex, to accompany you. This adviser is stored on a handheld device and can provide support in the form of information and, if given physical access to a device, some hacking capabilities. They’re also known for being a foul-mouthed little shit. If you would like your character to call on them at any time, simply mention that they are pinging Alex in the comment header.)
Mission Start
[Nestled in the awkward space between Eastgate proper and the manufacturing district, it’s hard to imagine this would be anybody’s first choice in accommodations while on Earth 91c. It’s ostensibly a hotel, or is going to be one, at any rate. A sign out front reads “UNDER RENOVATION” and the building is surrounded by an orange ribbon fence separating it from its surroundings. A few uniformed humans mill about outside, waists slung with construction tools, and more movement can be glimpsed inside. The facade checks out well enough.
And yet, according to Atarah, these are the people who would destroy her kind if they could. They are the ones who stole what was hers. And what they have taken is somewhere inside that would-be hotel.
You need to get inside to be sure though. Are those men carrying construction tools or weapons? Perhaps you’ll notice a pattern to their seemingly random wanderings around the supposed construction site. And are those cameras you see dotting the building’s perimeter? A skilled infiltrator may be able to slip past such defenses undetected—though a more bloodthirsty approach may be just as effective.]
Mission-In-Progress
[Through either clean stealth or brute force, you managed to make your way inside. Now, the facade begins to crumble. There is no evidence of construction inside the building and those guards? Definitely armed. Maybe you’ve worked out a plan of action with your cohort(s) before you came inside, because right now you only have a moment to decide whether to dive for cover or fight before someone sees you coming.
If not? Hopefully you’re good at improvising because these guys are definitely big on shooting first and asking questions later.]
Mission End
[However you pulled it off, eventually, you’ll find what these people were trying so hard to protect. Fighting or sneaking your way deep enough into the building will eventually reveal a hidden entrance to a large basement, perhaps once used for storage, but now transformed into something more sinister. There are several screens and consoles on one end of the room, one showing a live feed from the cameras you saw outside. Against one of the walls is what looks like a large slab of steel and circuitry, about the size of a coffin, with a shallow concave carved into its front, large enough for an adult to stand in.
And in the center of the room, there is a Program, lying unresponsive on the floor. One might assume he was dead if it weren’t for the noise, a low, uneven beat like a skipping hard drive that seems to drift from the Program’s throat. He wears the remains of what appears to be a construction uniform, though the back of it has been torn open, revealing something resting between his shoulder blades. It resembles a flattened black hexagon, about four inches in diameter, and the underside of it glows where it makes contact with the Program’s skin.
This is what Atarah was after. And whatever it is, it’s clearly much more than just a symbol.]
