[ Hanzo has, for lack of a better phrase, no idea what he is doing.
The dog is settled down now, at least, curled up and making quiet, snuffling noises that he thinks must be from pain, and he has done what the doctor had told him to do to make sure the thing is a little more comfortable, but he is still somewhat out of his own depths. He has taken care of wounds before, of course, mostly on himself, but he has never had to deal with something so... Small. So slight. He feels as though if he goes out of his way to try and help it more than he has he'll end up doing more damage than helping.
It makes him recall a time back at Hanamura when he and Genji had been desperate for a pet of their own, a small thing that was theirs to care for, something that, for him, would be out of the clan's hands and something they could not touch. As much as their father was sweet on his little Sparrow, however, it was not something they were ever allowed to have. It would be a distraction, father said, the household would end up taking care of it, Hanzo had studies and lessons and training to focus on...
Huffing a noise, he shifts, dropping to his knees so he can lean over and look at the dog again. It's terribly small, barely big enough to fit in his hands, he thinks, and it trusts him so completely. He speaks to it in gentle tones and the dog listens, heedless of the crimes that stain Hanzo's hands so completely red. He'd be touched if it wasn't an animal that lacked the capability of such thought.
Crossing his arms, he simply continues his vigil, silent and careful. ]
The doctor will be here soon.
[ Whine. ]

THE BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The hospital, despite the recent catastrophe burning through the second and third region, was quiet. There were other doctors on hand. She's made herself enough of a commodity and trusted staff member that she could come and go as she pleased, because it was always for the right reasons and never taken advantage of. She worked across all three stations, after all. Perhaps she's simply "on call" now.
So she'd scooped up her supplies, gathered her staff, and was there as quickly as possible— he wouldn't have had to wait terribly long. The tram carried her most of the way and an easy trot carried her through the farmlands to his given location, not even a little out of breath. She slows to a walk on sight so as not to disturb his new charge.
The fact that he's sitting vigil is... well, charming. ]
Hanzo. [ A dip of her head by way of greeting, settling to her knees beside him without a care for the dirt on her clothes, voice softening as she addresses the pup and reaches out to offer a few knuckles at his nose. Let her get acquainted before she moves to stroke over a fuzzy little head. ] Hello there, little one. You'll be just fine in a moment.
You're quite lucky such an honorable man found you, you know.
[ Her touch skims down over his back, fingertips gentle and nails parting his fur until she can encourage him to unfurl and get a better look at his leg. He seems normal enough, far from alien. That was good. Her tech should be able to take care of him then. It's laid on the ground beside her and she pulls the trigger to begin the stream, washing over the little one in gold as she continues to pet him, weight of her hand keeping him still. ]
Where did you find him, Hanzo?
HE IS HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He's not as settled in this place as perhaps he gives the impression of being, and he still feels constantly on edge, surrounded by people that recognise him that he has no idea how to face. So many of them seem to know him, his past, his nature, and he feels out of sorts each and every single time he hears his own name, still casting his mind back to weeks before when he had to come face to face with his own demons in literal form.
It's clear to anyone that he is not comfortable here, even as he forges to make his own place, pushing forward time and time and time again, keeping his head up and not letting his own thoughts drag him deeper into some place that he cannot allow himself to stumble. If he thinks too long... It will be months for him to surface from his own thoughts.
The gentle sound of the doctor approaching is enough to stop him thinking, at least, and he tilts his head up before he bows it again in a gentle, formal greeting. It's his first time truly seeing her in person and - well, she is beautiful, as much as she is kind, he imagines. She goes straight to befriending the animal and, somehow, he is not in the least surprised.
Even when she goes on to compliment him. ]
He was wandering around the farmland. [ Hanzo thinks it best to ignore her kind words towards him and focus, instead, on the duty of caring for the lost stray. ] I think he must have come from where the creature was roaming and somehow been injured. I didn't move him in case it harmed him more.
[ Having a puppy with a broken leg was bad enough - having a puppy that was hurt worse because of his own actions would not have sat well on his shoulders. ]
SLAMS BACK IN FOR OUJI
And so she eases herself right into his presence without hesitation, hoping that comfort will inspire comfort, returning the incline of his head with the same degree and another fraction still— respectful and deferring to him, humble. She gives him as much of his space as possible, but the small body of the dog and the desire not to crowd over him lest they scare him leaves her at Hanzo's side, elbow room between them. ]
That's likely, yes. Something must have fallen on him. [ The anesthetics in the nanites have numbed the pain, at least, so the pup's whining should thin out and stop soon. Until then, her fingertips are steady and gentle over a bloated little stomach, likely enough that he hasn't eaten in a while. ] You did well; keeping him still was the best thing for him, like this. See? It looks like the nanites are working for him. His leg should be just fine here in a little bit, though he'll still be tender for a few hours and probably wary on it for a few days.
It's nice to officially meet you, by the way.
[ Her eyes finally leave the dog again to offer Hanzo a smile, shoulders drawing up with it. She can't take her hands off the staff or the dog to shake his, so it will have to do. ]
DO IT FOR THE PUPPER
It was still young.
The woman beside him gets close to tend to the small dog and Hanzo only relaxes when he's sure that the situation is well in hand. The dog is still making soft, sad little noises and he leans down, watching for a moment before his hand reaches out to scratch at it's eats gently, hoping to soothe. He doesn't have much experience with animals or pets, but he's sure it cannot be too difficult. Comfort and a gentle hand. ]
I see. [ His lips purse as he considers, watching. Hanzo had been busy attacking the monster and had paid little attention to what damage that may have caused. Perhaps it was, somehow, his own fault. ] Will he require any extra care while he is wary on his leg? I'm not sure he has a home to return to.
[ And he has a farm... And the roosters like him...
But her smile leaves him a touch baffled and he blinks before he nods his head. ]
Yes. The same to you.
I'M ALWAYS HERE FOR OUJI
Her nails rake through nape to tail, fingertips tracing the idle curl and teasing along its length, smiling. ]
A watchful eye would be ideal; he's not so young that he should require much nursing if any, but I'm no expert. I have a friend I could ask if you'd like. You have a home, do you not? Room for a little one?
[ The look she turns on him is only vaguely hopeful, trying not to shove anything onto him. But he does seem taken by the little guy.
It's ok they can just talk about the dog. Who gives up another little whine before she's shushing him. ]
You're all right, kleiner prinz. A little more.
the most precious babe
Hanzo stares at the dog and he wonders what sort of life may be ahead of him. ]
Yes, there is space for him. [ The farm is huge and Hanzo doesn't live with anyone but his own regret and pain. ] I will make sure that he is taken care of. [ It'll be the first time he's taken care of anything in a long time, and the thread of anxiety is nothing compared to his determination that he can do that, that he can make sure the dog is back on it's - his - feet soon enough.
The puppy keeps making noises and Hanzo leans down, whispering a few gentle words in Japanese before it ends with Ouji, his hand moving away and his cheeks a little red.
He had named the dog already. He was embarrassed. ]
Is there anything I should give him? When should he see a doctor again?
