THE CHIMERA'S TALE "A dream you dream alone is only a dream. A dream you dream together is reality."
Something stirs in the air of Emiri. By now, the strange transmission is everywhere. People are actually beginning to talk about it, though in the quietest sense of the word. Anything in public areas will immediately be ignored, and even then, rumors are quickly snuffed out by the presence of the authorities, who have doubled in number due to the fact Federick Link has gone missing. Questions about his disappearance will not be answered or tolerated; anyone who attempts to even mention the name will be arrested and immediately detained. However, repercussions of Link mysteriously vanishing can be felt planet-wide.
All interplanetary travel has been suspended until further notice. Transportation between cities and from city to Moira (and vice versa) are still possible, but every movement is now heavily monitored. Don't be surprised if you suddenly find yourself stopped or detained for questioning or someone goes through your things. The same night Link goes missing, those aboard the Moira experience a dream or vision. Yet, no one planet-side will even begin to know what is being said if someone decides to ask about them.
DREAM #1The dream begins with the character's interpretation of a happy relationship, one filled with love and respect. It fades to show the image of Link'd Inc and what they are capable of, the comfort that comes from finding that perfect someone, and the boy's face can be seen, smiling and consoled by the fact that he has done this. He is responsible for this union and will continue to do whatever it takes for others to experience that same joy. Yet, this content will be ruined if the Komai are allowed to persist in spreading these lies of theirs. He wants you to know that they are wrong, that they are simply trying to chase you away from the possibility of a perfect future.
Waking up is quiet, peaceful. There is an urge to stay that overshadows the panic slowly seeping through the ranks, and the only question in your mind is why would you want to leave?
DREAM #2The dream begins with your character's interpretation of a failed relationship, one filled with pain and hardship. It fades to show the image of the Komai and what they are trying to stop, the chaos that comes from being forced into a match, and the girl's face can be seen, frowning and upset by the misery that comes from what she has done. She is responsible for this union and does not want to continue to do whatever it takes for others to experience this heartache. Yet, this sorrow will continue if Link'd Inc persists in spreading these lies of theirs. She wants you to know that they are wrong, that they are simply trying to force you into a possibility of a broken future.
Waking up is loud, violent. There is an urge to leave that overshadows the panic slowly seeping through the ranks, and the only question in your mind is why haven't we left yet?
☄ HARASHANNormally a bright jewel of Emirian culture, Harashan is looking rather ragged in the days that follows the transmission. Members of the Komai, or perhaps sympathizers looking to vent their frustrations, have tagged several buildings and public places with graffiti. Symbols of the Komai are everywhere, as well as denunciations of Link'd Inc in general. BROKEN LINKS? LET'S BREAK THE WHOLE DAMN CHAIN. DOWN WITH LINK! LOVE CAN'T BE FOUND IN A TEST! FREE THE CHILDREN! The mood is tense. Occasionally, security will try and enforce the law and errant artists can be seen being dragged away. Onlookers appear either suspicious and fearful, and children are virtually nonexistent on the streets. Things are slowly beginning to reach a boiling point, and if one of those trouble makers happens to pin the blame on you, don't say there wasn't ample time to get away.☄ AVELLEThe nightlife is everything. Welcome to Club Supernova.
Once inside, it's difficult to see who is who and what's happening between patrons. The music is loud, the lights are flashing, and it's a hypnotic craze that is easy to be swept up in. Yet, not everyone is having a good time. Perhaps an hour or two into the evening, you notice someone out of place at the bar. Their clothes are dirty, body language almost nervous. With the bartender turned, you watch them slip something into the drinks lined up along the bar. If you go to confront them, they will react in one of two ways. One: they will attempt to cause a commotion in order to slip away. Give chase if you think you can catch them, but inevitably, they will be lost somewhere outside. Two: they whisper "Don't stay here." and promptly bite down hard, the capsule hidden in their mouth breaking and killing them. ☄ ST. MURTELThere's nothing abnormal about a check-up, now is there? You go in, the doctor looks you over, and then you're on your way without much fuss. Yet, what happens when a routine check-up - part of the all-inclusive deal of having taken the Link'd Inc survey - takes a strange turn?
The nurse tells you that your doctor will be right in, but ten minutes turns to thirty, and thirty into an hour. If you choose to leave the room in search of some assistance, you'll discover that the halls are oddly empty; no nurses, doctors, or other patients anywhere around. Out of the corner of your eye, you notice movement, a quick flash of white—it's a child running in the opposite direction. When (or if) you reach the child, some of you may recognize them, some of you may not. The girl begs you for help, tells you that she doesn't want to do this anymore, but before you have the chance to respond, you're surrounded by officials who take the child away. If you try to stop them from taking the girl, you will be detained and sent back to the Moira with further instructions never to set foot in St. Murtel ever again.Eventually, the captains will come to the crew about finding the Komai in order to do whatever they have to so they can leave. Yet, they know it isn't safe for the entirety of the crew to be split up among the cities and would prefer to search one place--for both safety and a possible quick get-away. There will be a meeting in the mess hall asking for input and to share what anyone has seen or information that might not have been public knowledge to the rest of the crew. This is a ship-wide announcement, so anyone is free to attend.

[Papyrus has been having so much fun in Avelle, and now there's a party?! He's never seen anything so glamorous in his life! It's like the neon signs in Grillby's and the most fabulous shows in the MTT franchise collided into one amazing event, and here he is in the thick of it.
At first it's just fun to walk around and soak in the flashing lights, the pounding music, and the crush of pretty people. He dances a little, says hello to everyone, and takes countless selfies with people who, after a few fruity drinks, seem to be a lot less concerned about a noisy skeleton chattering at them.
He happens to notice the sketchy person of interest at the bar, and after a perfectly friendly (but very loud) inquiry about their motivations, they take off. Papyrus, hot on their heels, happens to spot a familiar face in the crowd and yells at them on the way past.]
HEY! Help me stop that human! They're being extremely weird!!
Moira | Mess Hall Meeting (ota)
[Papyrus is jittery, more excited than concerned about what he's hearing. Komai? The missing head of the dating company? What a mystery! He has no clue where Link could possibly be, but that doesn't stop him from scrolling through his MID, looking at his countless pictures and wondering if any of these people or places could mean anything.
During a lull in the discussion, he snaps his head up.]
You know, there was a very suspicious individual at the party in Avelle! I gave chase, but they were just a bit too crafty for the great Papyrus that day.
SUPERNOVA
Weird like how? It's what he immediately wonders. He could ask, but he's sure that if it's already a chase, pausing to question Papyrus is going to guarantee that they lose them.]
Huh?!
[That's all he manages, and it quickly gets lost in the crowd. He raises a hand to the human as they pass by, but they obviously don't stop for him.]
Excuse me, what are-
[But then they're gone. Well, shoot. Steven casts one more glance at Papyrus, and then scampers outside after the human in the hopes of catching up.]
no subject
Nice try, Steven, but they're too wily to stop and answer questions for you! We must detain them!!
no subject
He trusts Papyrus's moral fiber enough to believe that they probably do need detaining if he says they do, but he doesn't want to hurt them. His tail snaps up and above him as he runs, like a scorpion's tail.]
Please stop running, we're not going to hurt you!
[He shoots two bursts of sticky sap out at the runner's feet, but misses. Whoops.]
Uh oh. Don't step on that, Papyrus!
no subject
Curses! That was my favorite footwear!
[He throws out a bone attack, just short ones, with the intention of tripping up the runner.]
Hey, you! Stop! We have a lot of questions, but it's extremely difficult to ask them while you're escaping!
[Whoever this person is, they're extremely agile. They dodge the bones without slowing down much.]
no subject
[Steven's major question at the moment is 'why is Papyrus chasing you even?' but that's okay. They can sort that all out if they ever get the chance to talk.
Which it doesn't seem like they well. The runner has dodged into an alley with significantly more roadblocks than the open sidewalk, and he doesn't want to shoot much more sap for fear of sticking up Papyrus even more.
Crossing into the alleyway, Steven gives it one last attempt - two sets of vines lash out of the bulb on his back, and latch onto a an overhanging fire escape like Spiderman webbing. He leaps into the air, grasping the railing of the fire escape and then attempting to dive off of it and over the mid alley fence the runner has just crossed.
He jumps the fence, but there is a dumpster there that he didn't notice. His claws skitter across its lid like a dog on a hardwood floor and he slips onto the pavement, his vines whipping around in an attempt to keep balance.]
Whaa - oh nooooo aaaahhh -
no subject
Not to mention the damage he probably just did to the poor kid.
He groans and stands back up, rubbing at the dirty smudges and scuffs on his his face. Yeah, it's no use. The culprit could be anywhere, and neither of them are in much shape to pursue them now anyway. He turns back to Steven, looking a little rueful.]
Well... that could have gone better! ...Are you all right?
no subject
For just a moment, Steven looks kind of wild and out of focus, like instinct has taken over. But at the sound of Papyrus's voice, it quickly fades, and he goes back to just being sort of confused.]
Aww man...I'm fine. Sorry, I think I kind of messed everything up.
no subject
Sorry I stepped on your vine! Is it okay?
[He offers him a hand up, still grinning a little.]
And don't worry about it! The important thing is, we stopped them from messing with people at the party! I'm sure it's only a matter of time before they face justice.
no subject
[He winds his vines back into his bulb, where they can rest undisturbed for the time being. He takes Papyrus's hand and pulls himself up, offering him a smile in return as he rebalances himself onto his roots.]
What were they doing, anyway?
[The trust must be mutual, for Steven to get this far without questioning his motives.]
no subject
They were being very suspect! I saw them adding medicine to people's drinks, and I don't think any of them were sick at all! Wasteful, if you ask me!
no subject
It takes Steven a few moments to put that explanation together. Medicine? In people drinks? People drinks in a bar...
They have to get back there right now. But not before some of the colour drains from Steven's face, and he almost chokes on his own spit with shock.]
P-Papyrus...you mean...
[He looks back in the direction of the club, and then leaps up over the fence and starts bolting back towards it.]
We can't let anybody drink those!
no subject
[Good thing skeletons don't get winded. Or, at least, this one doesn't. He takes off at a sprint, easily pacing Steven.]
We have no idea who might have a reaction! Really, that person is so inconsiderate!!
no subject
No point in getting into that right now if Papyrus is already on board.]
You gotta show me where this happened, okay?
[They come back to the doors of the club, and Steven behinds looking around frantically, trying to see if anything has gone wrong with the people in the crowd.]
no subject
[Papyrus leads Steven to the bar. A lot of the doctored drinks are gone, but the picks up the ones he thinks he recognizes.]
Hmm... this isn't all of them. What do we do? Does this place even have a Royal Guard?
no subject
Even as Papyrus is picking up the drinks he recognizes, the little nymphs just kind of barrels straight onto the counter, a sweep of his tail knocking all the nearby drinks onto the floor with a smash. The nearby patrons, and the bartender, are naturally pretty shocked.]
Someone put stuff in the drinks!
[He yells it as loud as he can over the music and chaos around them, but of course people seem more concerned with what this plant person is doing standing on the counter. So he makes it a little more simple.]
It's POISONED!
no subject
Papyrus isn't one to believe such a thing, but he trusts Steven's judgement, too. If he says the drinks are poisoned, then they are. And he can't allow anyone to get hurt.
He tries to take a more diplomatic approach, going through the crowd, confiscating any drinks that look like the ones he saw being spiked, offering loud apologies and louder explanations. People are absolutely pissed at both monsters, and a few start throwing things at them, but the word "poison" is starting to spread and panic sweeps through the crowd.
Papyrus arrives back at the bar, arms full of sloshing cups, as the authorities arrive to investigate the disturbance.]
Here! ...Actually, this looks like far more than they drugged, but we could smash them anyway just to be safe!
no subject
Maybe just pour them out?? [Steven calls to him over the crowd.] The glasses are still probably okay I just kind of panicked!
[Meanwhile the law officers are exchanging words with a few locals, and then come over to address the two offworlders.]
"Alright, that's enough. We've got some questions for you two."
[They move to start trying to remove them from the club. Except, Steven instinctively hisses and pulls away the moment one of them tries to touch him.]
no subject
Oh, finally! Yes! Hello, guardsmen and women and otherwise! Sorry, sometimes it's hard for me to tell. I would be more than happy to give you a statement, as I was the one who saw the whole-- Steven, are you okay?
[As he's being escorted out, Papyrus glances behind him to see that, to his horror, Steven's putting up a fight. And the officers dealing with him have weapons and tasers and no interest in giving this little alien creature a chance fight them.]
no subject
But when they come at him, trying to grab him and pull him away, all Steven can think about is axes and chains, and in that momentary absence of his rational mind, his monster brain takes over to defend itself.
He hisses again, his tail thrashing back and forth like an agitated feline, a clattering growl in his throat that's only distantly reminiscent of an animal. Part of him considers that he could probably kill both of them if he tried. They're just human, or close enough. He could make them his dinner.
But he doesn't. Instead, he leaps down to the floor and tries to run for it - but that's when the taser comes into play.]
no subject
[Papyrus tugs against the hands holding him firmly in place, trying to get at the twitching form on the floor. This is all wrong! There's no need for this level of violence, he's a good person and so is Steven and they have to clear up this misunderstanding!
But right now, his main concern is seeing to his friend.]
Please, let me go, or I'm afraid I'll have to use my special attack!!
[Naturally, they don't release him, but after a volley of strange blue bones and one of the guards holding him slamming facefirst into the floor, both monsters are dogpiled and carried out.]
no subject
It's long enough for them to grab him, anyway. And when he sees that strike against Papyrus...he makes the decision to stop fighting. At least for now, no matter what his more monstery disposition wants to do. He doesn't want to get Papyrus into more trouble than he already has.
He whimpers his displeasure in an animalistic whine and droops back his ears as they get pulled out, looking back to the crowd regretfully. He really hopes that no one got hurt.]
