SHIP LIFE
"It is not the ship so much as skillful sailing that assures a prosperous voyage."

The Ingress has pulled you in. Your body experiences several sensations at once: being pushed forward as if a hand is resting on your back, momentary and startling blindness, a gentle ringing in your head. You have difficulty discerning whether it is hot or cold, but where you have been prodded is noticeably warmer than the rest of you. Some may suffer from dizziness while others are perfectly fine. Once equilibrium has been reestablished, you will notice you are standing on a long platform and that the room is filled with a soft cerulean light. It's slightly humid and dark despite the glow around you, and various machines line the walls on either side, though they are not accessible from where you stand. Shortly after, you are led out and toward the medbay.

Inside this room, you are given a physical scan and sign a contract that states you are now part of the crew of the Moira with a specific job. This process consists of a complete work-up of medical history and current health, and afterwards, you are given your MID, a device that is integrated into your hand with only the slightest pinch. From there, you are guided out of the medbay and into the main hall with specific instructions not to leave.

MAIN HALL ( 09.01 to 09.03 )
After everyone is gathered together, you learn that these are your accommodations for the night. The captains explain that the Moira is not readily suited for such a large influx of people, and that this is only temporary. Placed around the room are a variety of blankets, sheets, and mats in lieu of beds, and crates of MREs have been provided along with H2O hydration kits. Some time in the “morning hours”, all MIDs will receive a message designating rooming assignments and areas of the ship that are open to exploration.

GALLEYMESS HALLREC AREA

All remaining areas accessible to crew members are open later in the “evening hours”. Crew are also informed that the Moira is approximately two days from their current destination.

DESCENSION
"A force of nature unto itself."

From a distance, the planet’s reddish atmosphere slowly becomes more transparent the closer the Moira ventures, and mountain ranges, volcanic fields, valleys, ice caps, canyons, deserts, and impact craters are visible in stark detail. The remnants of a lone moon hangs in its outer orbit and impedes the ship’s ability to dock close to the planet’s surface. As the crew prepares to disembark, there are noticeable changes in gravity as well as some disturbances in energy output.

EXPLORATORY EXCURSION I ( 09.04 to 09.11 )
Due to unstable atmospheric conditions, crew members must utilize the transporters located in the Cargo Bay to descend to the surface. Each craft holds upwards of six passengers and is piloted remotely via Navigation. Once it lands, orders will be sent to MIDs detailing mission directives. These include: scouting surrounding areas for potential threats, determining if the mile-long road from the transporter to the nearest inhabited area is free of hazards, and assessing local friendliness.
Planetary Environment Details
● The air is breathable. However, there is a pleasant sweetness to it that generates an overall invigoration.
● Vegetation is sparse due to dry and windy weather patterns. It’s dusty, and the ground itself is rather gritty in texture.
● The initial temperature feels hot and causes the skin to prickle with sweat. Yet, the longer one is exposed to the elements, the less you are inclined to notice.
● There is an overall lack of civilization, and what populace there is remains centralized in one area. Crew members may stumble across the occasional explorer returning to their own ship; they are friendly and welcoming but also eager to leave.
● The sun does not seem to set. Even in the “later” hours of the day, it is still as bright as it had been at “noon”.

EXPLORATORY EXCURSION II ( 09.12 to 09.17 )
A thriving marketplace that was found during the initial search has been deemed an appropriate place for trade and much needed supplies. Crew members are encouraged to engage in local customs while continuing to maintain their current duties aboard the Moira, and they must assist in the delivery of goods to the transporter. They are more than welcome to explore this new area.
The Marketplace
● There is no monetary system in place; if there is an item you want, trade for it. (Locals will accept anything as payment.)
● Booths, shops, and tents line both sides of the pathways weaving throughout the area. Signs with written language are not recognizable; however, MIDs will translate any spoken languages so they are understood. Vendors are an eclectic mix of species, and not all of them are humanoid in form as they are from varying parts of the universe.
● The smells of foreign foods are everywhere. Yet, that familiar sweetness seems to occasionally overpower it. It is also loud as others bustle about their business.
● Natives are not unkind, but they are not as overly welcoming as strangers in the market are. They are quiet, reserved, and helpful to some extent. They are easily recognizable by the plain masks and hoods worn over their faces.
Seedy areas are found in the depths of the market. Drug and sex trades are not uncommon but not openly displayed.

He moved through his commands listlessly, trying to absorb and retain the influx of orders and new information while processing it with the delayed distance one might a dream. In truth, he'd had dreams more lucid than the reality he was currently experiencing. Even though he was more used to warping and awkward, physically strenuous space travel, nothing could have mentally and emotionally prepared him to enter an entirely new reality. The only reason he was sure it was real at all was due to the unsettling wobbling in his stomach.

He couldn't remember the last time he had eaten, and whenever that had been, it was certainly some rationed distribution high in carbs for quick energy and utterly lacking in what one needed for a balanced diet, or extended cognitive functioning. His eyes blurred as he observed the crowded sleep arrangements around him in the hall.

He had to try not to trip over anyone. There were confused murmurings everywhere. To his impressed surprise, there seemed a great deal of confident and capable looking individuals - mostly men - who seemed reasonably self possessed. There wasn't anyone with a visible face who looked particularly comfortable, or well informed though. Some looked downright anxious.

After nearly stumbling into a group of individuals who, upon second observation, weren't connected but simply standing near enough to each other to create a blockage in the hallway, Lee found himself speaking some of the first words he had uttered since arriving. "Pardon me. My name is Lee Adama, and while I am as new to this ship as the majority of everyone else, I have experience with intergalactic travel and class C ship maintenance and regulation. If I can do anything to ease our integration, I'll do everything I can. Please let me know if I can do anything to help."

If only he felt as calm and controlled as he sounded.

Joker has been keeping himself out of the way although he's no less disoriented or confused than anyone else who'd been unceremoniously dragged here. What he has noticed is that most of them seem to be civilians. Or, at the very least, from places that are more accustomed to being planet-bound rather than in space.

When the unfamiliar man speaks from nearby, it's enough to get Joker's attention, his head turning towards the speaker as he mulls over what the man just said. It's enough to have him pushing away from the wall to approach cautiously, his movements stilted and limping slightly from the hours he's been on his feet now.

He approaches the man with a curious expression, since any experience with intergalactic travel puts him a step above everyone else Joker's bumped into so far.

"Hey," he speaks in greeting, head cocked slightly to the side in curiosity. "Experience, huh? You Alliance? Commercial? Private?"

There was no way the guy was mercenary. Just look at how he was standing. He looked ready to jump to attention at the drop of a hat.

Rigid military posture shifts in synchronicity with his head as he turns his attention to the man who'd addressed him. He blinked slowly, trying to process the question without wearing a stupid 'Lee is thinking hard' expression which never worked in his favor, or delaying too long. He'd been told by an instructor at the academy that asking questions was not a sign of incompetence or weakness. Someday, maybe, he'd take that to heart.

Lee detested feeling uncertain, or appearing uninformed to others. The perception of an ignorant appearance was hard to work off, and really burned his ego. "Pardon me, but, what alliance?"

He gathered by 'commercial' or 'private' that he was essentially being asked if he was military - official or mercenary. But it seemed an odd question, since there didn't seem to be any such alliance mentioned aboard the Moira (at least, in the short debriefing), and it seemed most occupations distributed were some manner of mundane or redundant maintenance at best, and purely inglorious at worst.

"I'm an officer of the Colonial Fleet." Or...was.

"Colonial Fleet?" Joker squints at that momentarily, because as far as he knows there's no fleet from earth that calls themselves any such thing. Internally he sighs. Either they're from some far-flung human settlement or - and more likely - this is yet another reality in space. Well. That part's not so surprising. That seems to be the norm he's finding with most people dragged here.

"We don't have one of those where I come from. At least I don't think so. We have the Systems Alliance. The Earth and the human colonies in Citadel space."

"Everyone else I talked to seemed to be more accustomed to being planet-bound. When you mentioned having intergalactic experience... Sorry. I assumed." Hoped, actually. Ah well.

He blinked, feeling slightly stupid. Of course, no one was going to understand that by Colonial Fleet, he had meant back home, where he'd come from. Someone could hear that and assume it meant he knew more than he did about the current situation. Fortunately, this fellow seemed to get that it didn't relate to their thrilling new life aboard the Moira.

"Back home. Guess that doesn't matter now."

He heard the rest of what was said, and what should be a relief to know someone else has space and presumably military experience, but all he can focus on is the word 'Earth', and how it makes his jaw unhinge in a very dignified and intelligent way.

"I'm sorry, did you say Earth?"

Joker hadn't really expected that response, so the sudden snap to attention from the other man has him eyeing him uncertainly for a moment as he tried to figure out if he'd just said something wrong.

Of course he came from Earth. Didn't all humans?

"Yeeees?" he hedges out carefully, not sure why that was so exciting.

Poor Joker. He has no idea. Unfortunately, neither does Lee.

Didn't everyone know Earth was about as mythological as Valhalla or Shangri-La? But their survival depended on finding earth back home, and his father had said he knew where it was - but he didn't buy that for a second, even if he had to admit being hopeful.

Now this man knew how to get there, and if he could find out, then maybe, if he ever got home...

...Maybe everyone wouldn't have to die.

"Really? What do you know about it? I wasn't even certain Earth was real but, you've been there?"

Please forgive his childish incredulity.

Now Joker is really confused as his face screws up slightly and he eyes the excited guy across from him. "Yeah, a few times. Wait, are you saying humans don't come from Earth in your universe?"

Because there were other races from other planets and galaxies, sure, but even the planet-bound humans he's spoken to here so far have at least been from Earth as an origin point.

She'd found quickly that after the first disorientation, what had just happened had sunk in for her somewhat faster than it had some of the other people here. It stood to reason - it wasn't her first time in this situation, and she seemed to be in a minority just for having been to space before, let alone having lived there most of her life.

So Lee Adama's little announcement got her attention straight away, and she wended her way over to him. She had her pick of questions she could ask him, from the vaguely relevant - did he know of the human Systems Alliance, to the completely inane - what was a class C ship, but instead:

"Have you seen anything like this before? Cross-universe travel, anything like that?" It occurred to her belatedly that a masked alien (if he didn't know what a quarian was) walking up to him and firing off questions was probably a little disconcerting, and went on, voice a little softer. "Ah, sorry - I'm Tali. Tali'Zorah..."

She had been about to say 'Tali'Zorah vas...'...and then realised mid-sentence she had no idea just what her ship name was anymore. vas Neema? vas Neheda? vas Moira? Unable to come to any conclusion in that instant, she stopped right there.
