SHIP LIFE
"It is not the ship so much as skillful sailing that assures a prosperous voyage."

The Ingress has pulled you in. Your body experiences several sensations at once: being pushed forward as if a hand is resting on your back, momentary and startling blindness, a gentle ringing in your head. You have difficulty discerning whether it is hot or cold, but where you have been prodded is noticeably warmer than the rest of you. Some may suffer from dizziness while others are perfectly fine. Once equilibrium has been reestablished, you will notice you are standing on a long platform and that the room is filled with a soft cerulean light. It's slightly humid and dark despite the glow around you, and various machines line the walls on either side, though they are not accessible from where you stand. Shortly after, you are led out and toward the medbay.

Inside this room, you are given a physical scan and sign a contract that states you are now part of the crew of the Moira with a specific job. This process consists of a complete work-up of medical history and current health, and afterwards, you are given your MID, a device that is integrated into your hand with only the slightest pinch. From there, you are guided out of the medbay and into the main hall with specific instructions not to leave.

MAIN HALL ( 09.01 to 09.03 )
After everyone is gathered together, you learn that these are your accommodations for the night. The captains explain that the Moira is not readily suited for such a large influx of people, and that this is only temporary. Placed around the room are a variety of blankets, sheets, and mats in lieu of beds, and crates of MREs have been provided along with H2O hydration kits. Some time in the “morning hours”, all MIDs will receive a message designating rooming assignments and areas of the ship that are open to exploration.

GALLEYMESS HALLREC AREA

All remaining areas accessible to crew members are open later in the “evening hours”. Crew are also informed that the Moira is approximately two days from their current destination.

DESCENSION
"A force of nature unto itself."

From a distance, the planet’s reddish atmosphere slowly becomes more transparent the closer the Moira ventures, and mountain ranges, volcanic fields, valleys, ice caps, canyons, deserts, and impact craters are visible in stark detail. The remnants of a lone moon hangs in its outer orbit and impedes the ship’s ability to dock close to the planet’s surface. As the crew prepares to disembark, there are noticeable changes in gravity as well as some disturbances in energy output.

EXPLORATORY EXCURSION I ( 09.04 to 09.11 )
Due to unstable atmospheric conditions, crew members must utilize the transporters located in the Cargo Bay to descend to the surface. Each craft holds upwards of six passengers and is piloted remotely via Navigation. Once it lands, orders will be sent to MIDs detailing mission directives. These include: scouting surrounding areas for potential threats, determining if the mile-long road from the transporter to the nearest inhabited area is free of hazards, and assessing local friendliness.
Planetary Environment Details
● The air is breathable. However, there is a pleasant sweetness to it that generates an overall invigoration.
● Vegetation is sparse due to dry and windy weather patterns. It’s dusty, and the ground itself is rather gritty in texture.
● The initial temperature feels hot and causes the skin to prickle with sweat. Yet, the longer one is exposed to the elements, the less you are inclined to notice.
● There is an overall lack of civilization, and what populace there is remains centralized in one area. Crew members may stumble across the occasional explorer returning to their own ship; they are friendly and welcoming but also eager to leave.
● The sun does not seem to set. Even in the “later” hours of the day, it is still as bright as it had been at “noon”.

EXPLORATORY EXCURSION II ( 09.12 to 09.17 )
A thriving marketplace that was found during the initial search has been deemed an appropriate place for trade and much needed supplies. Crew members are encouraged to engage in local customs while continuing to maintain their current duties aboard the Moira, and they must assist in the delivery of goods to the transporter. They are more than welcome to explore this new area.
The Marketplace
● There is no monetary system in place; if there is an item you want, trade for it. (Locals will accept anything as payment.)
● Booths, shops, and tents line both sides of the pathways weaving throughout the area. Signs with written language are not recognizable; however, MIDs will translate any spoken languages so they are understood. Vendors are an eclectic mix of species, and not all of them are humanoid in form as they are from varying parts of the universe.
● The smells of foreign foods are everywhere. Yet, that familiar sweetness seems to occasionally overpower it. It is also loud as others bustle about their business.
● Natives are not unkind, but they are not as overly welcoming as strangers in the market are. They are quiet, reserved, and helpful to some extent. They are easily recognizable by the plain masks and hoods worn over their faces.
Seedy areas are found in the depths of the market. Drug and sex trades are not uncommon but not openly displayed.

This was an easy routine to fall back into, not that he'd ever really fallen out of it, save for maybe the hour of being alone on a strange space ship. "Well now, if I admitted you were the only one who was annoying your ego would start to take up too much of this ship. We only have so much room in here." Was he looking for this smirk? The one that settled comfortably on Steve's lips.

Way to lay it all out like that Tony. Nice. Steve shook his head, from anyone else the question would have made him bristle, he'll, a year ago the comment coming from Tony would have raised all Steve's defenses, but not anymore. That had to be some kind of growth. "Well, I can't say I was ever prepared for space kidnapping. But I don't think I'm just that kid from Brooklyn anymore. Besides, I didn't do that world saving all by myself, Mr. 'I wouldn't lay down on the wire for anyone is just fly a nuke up through a portal to space'. You must be loving this- well besides the kidnapping part."
narcissistictendencies: (What the hell was step two?)

[personal profile] narcissistictendencies 2015-09-02 04:52 pm (UTC)(link)
"You've seen the ship's schematics? Please, do share. Because, oh, I dunno, I think the ship can handle it." There was his prize, right there. That smirk! "Welcome back, Captain America. Captain Storm Cloud was kind of suffocating." He shrugged innocently. "Don't tell him I said that, though." When did he take to cheering people up? He did not get paid enough for this... did he even get paid here? Wow, he was effectively broke on this ship, wasn't he? That was a new feeling for him...

Two years ago? That comment would have sent him into an attack. As it was now, though? His heart only skipped a beat, then kept on beating. He wondered if that flicker passed through his eyes, or remained completely unknown. He hadn't shared that experience with anyone that wasn't involved, which meant the only ones that knew were Rhodey, Pepper, and Harley. He hummed in thought. "Yeah, had my fair share of kidnappings and I could have done without every one of them. But as far as kidnappings go, this one is the most ideal." In other words, yeah, he really is kind of giddy over this whole thing once he gets over the worry for the safety of their home... planet. That just sounded so strange in his own head. "Didn't care for the vertigo either, while we're complaining--well, while I'm complaining."

"There is no ship in existence big enough to handle that." Steve blushed, rubbing the back of his neck a bit bashfully and a a bit embarrassed that Tony saw through the brave front he was putting up. "Sorry, this just reminded me-," Steve paused why was he telling him this? Maybe because Tony might get it? "Bad memories, you know?"

And then Steve sticks his foot in his mouth, because doesn't he always where Tony is concerned? Of course Tony has been kidnapped before, Steve know that, he's read his file. He might not know the details of what he went through, but he knows the gist and he's smart enough to know that probably doesn't even touch on all of it. "I just meant because, well I would assume space would kind of be your thing? Or something you would have wanted to do."
narcissistictendencies: (I want one.)

[personal profile] narcissistictendencies 2015-09-03 08:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Tony clicked his tongue against his teeth and chuckled. "I think you're overestimating the size of my ego. Or underestimating the size of the ship." No, probably neither. Steve was probably right, but Tony wouldn't admit that. And Tony did get it. "Yeah. I know." He took a deep breath and let it out through his nose in almost a sigh of sorts.

"Space is definitely something I'd want to do." He clapped Steve on the shoulder. "But we were kinda busy back home, so space isn't exactly where I wanted to be at the moment. I'm not Banner. Don't treat me like I'm fragile, old man." Heck, even Banner wasn't as fragile as they tended to treat me. Tony had tried relentlessly to make him go green and not a damn thing worked. "I think we're past the point where everything you say pisses me off and I just accept that you're as tactless as I am and move on." He knew most of what Steve ever said anymore was just the way Steve was. It helped that he had a year's worth more time getting used to Steve than Steve did with him, though he didn't know this just yet.

[personal profile] captain_america 2015-09-05 09:02 pm (UTC)(link)
He shot Tony a wry smile. Tony would know, and that was enough for him.

Steve huffed out a laugh. "I'm not tactless...usually." But there was always something about Tony that had him blurting out the first thing that came to mind sometimes. He turned serious for a moment. "Yeah, we did have a lot going on back home, I hope they are able to find Loki's scepter without us, or- do you think there's some way we can get word back to them? So they know we're ok, we haven't been kidnapped by some HYDRA team and taken to ground." And that right there will let Tony know just how far behind him Steve is.
narcissistictendencies: (Actually I'm planning to threaten you.)

[personal profile] narcissistictendencies 2015-09-05 09:14 pm (UTC)(link)
"Tactless and oblivious." He teased.

But Tony paused at that, just staring as Steve spoke. He didn't remember? How could he not remember? He was... from the wrong time, wasn't he? At least he wasn't too far behind, but he was behind enough.

"Good news! We found it. Bad news! We lost it. More bad news! We end up getting thrashed pretty hard before saving the world again. But hey, we got the sceptre back... sorta." He rubbed the back of his neck uncomfortably. "I'm just afraid they think I'm dead. I kinda had a country falling on my head last thing I remembered." In all honesty, he could be dead back home. Doubtful, but possible.
captain_america: (Default)

[personal profile] captain_america 2015-09-07 07:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Steve rolled his eyes but any witty comeback was stopped when Tony continued to speak. They what?

"Wait, back up, what? We- you have a country falling on your head?!" Because that was kind of news you lead into with more explanation, Tony. A lot more explanation.
narcissistictendencies: (We could've been in Venice.)

[personal profile] narcissistictendencies 2015-09-07 08:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Tony whined with indecision before answering. "We... end up fighting this guy, really big guy. Like, eight feet. Made of metal. Really hates me. He decides that the only way to save humanity is to wipe it out. Naturally, we fight to stop him. Turns out, the glowy gem inside the sceptre is actually a big computer brain. We merge it with JARVIS and stick it in a synthetic body the big bad guy made for himself, he comes to life and we all kick the big bad guy's butt together. New Guy can lift our resident God of Thunder's hammer. It's impressive. And I wanna say, for the record, none of the rest of us can."

He paused, having strayed off track a bit, thinking. Then he recalled where he was going with this. "Right, country. Big bad turned Sokovia into a giant asteroid. He was planning on bringing it up into the atmosphere then dropping it back down to the Earth, effectively ending life as we know it with a giant extinction level event. I was under it when he kicked the engines on in reverse. Thor and I destroyed the entire country before it could flatten the planet... everyone was aboard a Helicarrier. Then I was here. Questions? Comments?" As he carefully avoids mentioning that Ultron was his fault.

[personal profile] captain_america 2015-09-08 04:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Ok. So only half of that made any sense and the rest he couldn't quite believe. Then again two years ago if someone had told him about the battle of New York he wouldn't have believed that either. "So we were fighting a giant robot that was trying to wipe out humanity?" He asked feeling really slow but Tony only ever half explained things. "So wait, you put Jarvis in a body?"
narcissistictendencies: (How 'bout that?)

[personal profile] narcissistictendencies 2015-09-08 05:42 pm (UTC)(link)
"More or less." He paused and looked a little floored for a moment. "That answers both questions, actually. See, JARVIS didn't actually... It's complicated." Which meant it would probably be extremely confusing for him to explain it. "He's not JARVIS anymore. He has all of the goodness in him that makes him JARVIS, but he's an entirely new being. He's... he's just... He's not JARVIS anymore." Yeah, repetitive and totally coherent. It was a touchy subject, okay?
captain_america: (Default)

[personal profile] captain_america 2015-09-08 06:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Steve watches Tony's face while he talks, he caught the repetition and he sees his expression. He can easily tell that his is a subject he'd rather not be talking about- at least not here not out in the open. Something had happened and Steve could bet it effected Tony more than he would ever let on. This wasn't the place.

He clapped Tony on the shoulder, subtly squeezing it in support. "You're gonna have to sit me down and explain it, preferably when we didn't just travel through some weird portal and were conscripted into working on a space ship. Yeah?"
narcissistictendencies: (I got nothin'.)

[personal profile] narcissistictendencies 2015-09-08 06:45 pm (UTC)(link)
It was getting weird for him. When the man had started paying more attention to him he hadn't noticed, until it became a rather abrupt thing. Since they first met, they've learned how to step around eachother to keep their strong opinions and different ideals from clashing. They were teammates. Somewhere along the line, they became functioning teammates and almost something akin to friends.

Tony shrugged Steve's hand off just to be difficult, but he didn't bite out any scathing quips. He begrudgingly accepted Steve's kindness and sighed. "Yeah. Maybe when we get our own damn rooms around here, instead of sleeping in the hall like a community shelter."

He paused, groping at a subject change as quickly as he could. "What do they have you doing, anyway? I'm assigned to the engines and power grid. I think I died and went to heaven." He smirked lightly, brushing off the mood crash.
captain_america: (Default)

[personal profile] captain_america 2015-09-10 09:10 pm (UTC)(link)
"Have you ever been to a community shelter?" Steve asked with a raised eyebrow, a teasing tone to his voice.

"Of course you are." That job didn't surprise Steve at all, at least the people who ran this ship seemed to play to their strengths. "I'm the 'co-head training and defense officer. I don't know who the other co-head is yet. So I guess that much hasn't changed, I'll be training people. And I have kitchen duties, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday mornings."
narcissistictendencies: (Sounds exhausting.)

[personal profile] narcissistictendencies 2015-09-11 05:29 pm (UTC)(link)
"I have... been to one, yes." Defensive Tony is absolutely not defensive, what are you talking about. He's just never slept in one. He had a charity for one though, organised by Pepper, of course. Shhh, don't question him, Rogers.

But he arched an eyebrow and just looked at Steve. "Wow. That's a mouthful. They must know you worked for SHIELD once upon a time. What do we call you, then? the CHTaDO? Sounds Japanese." He repeated the word a few times with the same snappy pronunciation as shitsure. Cht'ah-doh. Then rolled his gaze back up to the super soldier as the rest sank in.

"Oh, right. Yeha. Kitchen duties... uh. I think they're secretly trying to poison us. Have you seen me cook? Seriously. Me? Me? I can build the damn space oven from spare parts, but don't ask me to make you something edible in it. What is wrong with these people that they would put me in charge of something you would ingest--did you say Tuesday morning? Hey, look at that. One morning that everyone won't potentially die. I'm Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday mornings. I suggest eating out those days."
captain_america: (Default)

[personal profile] captain_america 2015-09-14 05:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Steve snickered, hiding it behind a cough as Tony kept repeating the anagram of his job title. "I think you can just call me head of defense? Unless you want to walk around saying 'Cht'ah-doh' then by all means."

He arched an eyebrow at Tony but let him ramble on until he was done, it was just always easier that way. "Well at least on Tuesday people can eat. You seriously can't cook?" That surprised him, he always figured Tony was one of those guys that was just good at everything, especially because genius. Steve wasn't a gourmet chef but he could throw together an edible meal. At least back home, who knew what ingredients they were going to be dealing with out here.
narcissistictendencies: (Are you above or below Angry Bees?)

[personal profile] narcissistictendencies 2015-09-14 08:34 pm (UTC)(link)
The snicker was a nice sound, even though he tried to hide it. The man had gone from gloomy and broody to something resembling uplifting with a few of his lame rambles. He didn't like the gloom. It was suffocating. "How about I just call you Cap like always."

Oh, he was good at everything. Except cooking. And people. Tony shrugged at Steve's astonishment. "I can cook. I can cook anything you want. You just can't eat it." Hey, cooking only consisted of preparing and heating the food. He can do that, no problem. It was like any delicate equation. Just blacken the solution with a flamethrower and there you go. "And get that judgemental tone out of your voice, Captain Criticism."
captain_america: (Default)

[personal profile] captain_america 2015-09-16 07:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Steve smiled at him, Tony calling him Cap he found was kind of comforting, something was still the same in this crazy world they suddenly found themselves in. "Sounds good, even if you'll just end up assigning me another nickname in a matter of minutes." He was used to that already.

"No judgement here, just surprised." And there was that new nickname, or rather recycled nickname. He was going to teach Tony how to cook, he decided but he wasn't stupid enough to say that. He would have to be more subtle about it. Like changing the subject entirely. He glanced around the room quickly before looking back at Tony, a bit of a michevious glint in his eye and a cross between and smile and a smirk on his face.

"So giant unexplored space ship, want to go see what we can find?"
narcissistictendencies: (next building is gonna say Potts)

[personal profile] narcissistictendencies 2015-09-17 12:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Tony clapped him on a shoulder and smirked, canting his head slightly to angle his chin, giving Steve a very knowing look. He can see that glint in your eyes, mister, and he's also very aware what you're doing. But damn if he can't resist that invitation.

"Trying to keep me out of trouble, Captain? Don't like me in a contract with three other captains, huh? Don't worry, I only really take orders from one Captain." He winked and held his hand out behind him. The suit disengaged one gauntlet, dodging around scattered people in the room and latching onto Tony's right hand. He raised both eyebrows at Steve and dropped them in a cocky gesture then waved his left hand in front of them. "After you, oh Captain my Captain."
captain_america: (Default)

[personal profile] captain_america 2015-09-19 08:05 pm (UTC)(link)
"Wait, you take orders?" Steve asked feigning surprise, his eyes lit up in amusement. Tony did take orders from him, when they were in the field at least, and that had probably surprised him the most. Of course there were times when he didn't listen to Steve and rushed in recklessly, but it was Tony, if he didn't do that then Steve would be worried.

"I don't think its possible to keep you out of trouble, Stark, but I'll continue to try." He shook his head in fond amusement and lead Tony out of the main hall trying to decide which way to go first.
narcissistictendencies: (I'm your nuclear deterrent.)

[personal profile] narcissistictendencies 2015-09-20 10:20 am (UTC)(link)
"Oh yeah, ha-ha. Smartass. I do at least... half of what you tell me to do. That's the best you're gonna get." truthfully, it was better than that. Steve called the shots and Tony followed the vast majority of the time. It was only when he saw a better opening and didn't have time to relay the information without acting that he ignored Steve.

"Trouble finds me. It's in the name." He shrugged with a smirk. "Eenie meanie miney mo?" He asked, gesturing to the hall options.
