"Let them in, and take them out."
|
floor two;
No one has been disrespectful so far; had they been, she would have been quick on grabbing an ear to drag someone off by, honestly. There is a difference between survival and disrespect, and they were no longer civilized people if they crossed that line. To see Kurt offering fervent prayer above the dead softens her, and she'll approach to lay a hand on his shoulder and offer a mask. Unfortunately, they only lasted so long— eventually smells fade, water dries, and refreshments were in order.
She'll give him his peace to finish his thoughts and await his acknowledgement, but her hand doesn't move. (It's good to see him at his full size, as well.) ]
angel mama ;A;
It's the gentle touch on his shoulder that draws him out of his almost trance-like state this time, dark lashes fluttering, citrine irises flicking to the hand on his arm. He crosses himself and returns the rosary to its place around his neck, turning his head completely to meet Angela's gaze, since he can actually do that now, considering he's normal height again.]
Miss Angela, [he greets, barely above a whisper as he reaches to take the mask he's being offered and slips it into place around his face. The peppermint floods his senses and he can't resist the urge to sigh in relief at the far more pleasant scent.]
SCOOPS UP THE BLUE SON
Kurt; [ in return, her voice soft. ] —you're kind to pray for them. Are you doing all right?
[ It may seem silly to ask in such a setting, really, but at least he doesn't seem to be nauseous as many had been. This is not an easy place to walk into, masks and guiding hands to lead you through or otherwise. To see such a basic and kind gesture stands out strong when those roaming around are otherwise working with the bodies or pacing through as quick as they can to avoid revulsion. ]
KOALA CLINGS TO MOM ;A;
It is the least I can do. [Since they are far too late to save them.] I am doing as well as I can, considering where we are.
[The stench had been unbearable at first; he'd come extremely close to getting sick the first few hours, though as he pushed his way through, focused his attention on praying over the copious amounts of corpses, he found that after a while, it no longer bothered him.]
THERE THERE
[ He won't have to fight with anyone trying to haul off bodies before he's had a chance to send them off, that way; efficient to a T. And if he'll allow her to pry him away, he should be accustomed by now to the fact that he'll be plied with something to drink at the very least. ]
weeps there is so much death
[The blue boy perks somewhat at that, the tips of his fangs gleaming past the dark of his lips.] Are there any cookies left? [Because why not? He could use the energy boost and an increase in some 'feel good' vibes from the chocolate.]
no subject
It'll do us all some good; it isn't healthy to be breathing in the bacteria in the air. The masks help with that, certainly, but even so.
[ It's a short trip, at least, and it feels good to unhook one ear and suck in some (fairly) clean air, not as stiflingly humid. The prompt for cookies takes her by surprise— the brief widening of her eyes, the set of her shoulders— but she relaxes with a soft huff of amusement before she's fishing her pacdisc out. ]
I still have a couple bags, yes. And some jerky. Water, in the meantime?
[ She offers him a bottle before she's paging through the list of items in her disc, still lengthy even as its dwindled. Finally— a bag of cookies in hand, fishing one out before offering him the bag as well. ]

What sort of contamination do you think could be in the air? ... will people get sick?
[Preferring to leave his mask on for now, Kurt blinks in bewilderment at the woman's reaction, then smiles and flushes in a sheepish manner; he can't help that the cookies were delicious and had been a really fantastic pick-me-up back when York had gotten him to the Medical tent.]
That would be wunderbar.
[He's about to tell her not to worry about the cookies, but as he's opening the bottle of water she's given him, he pauses in taking a drink to glance at the treats she's offering now. The blue boy dips his head in thanks and reaches with his tail to take the bag, indigo tinted cheeks darkening,] Thank you, miss Angela.
