It's been, uh... a long day.
[Very, very long. And not just for him, either. The flecks of dried blood staining his bones a faint pink where he touched her, told that sad story well enough on their own.]
no subject
Long several days, feels more like.
[ Long week might actually be more accurate... How long was she even on Yamatai? Lara hasn't had a clean handkerchief for days and neither of the tank tops she's wearing are holding together well. She shifts until she finds a clean, left over padding and hands it to him. Best she can do in lue of a towel. ]
You should rest.

Slouching against the table, Sans let out a wheezy yawn.]
We'll go in shifts. You lay down first, I'll wake you up in a half hour and we'll switch off. [And, because he didn't need to know Lara that well to anticipate her response:] Don't argue, I'm not the one with a sucking thoracic wound held together with magic and paste right now.
no subject
All right, but wake me up.
[ She lies down on the cot, on her less injured side and back to the wall. She doesn't exactly fall asleep right away, but once she's curled up, it's a very near thing. ]

It didn't take much for that train of thought to park itself neatly at your brother station. Sans took a breath and shoved it aside. Later.]
Yo, Lara? [He whispered, after enough time had passed.] You awake?
[The silence was reassuring. Good, Sans nodded to himself. She needed the rest.
He slumped down next to the exam table, shucking off his jacket and arranging it like a pillow behind his skull. Keeping watch was a nice thought -- after all, Sans was intimately familiar with the dangers of falling asleep in the wrong place -- but sleep was a nicer one. Wherever they were, Sans didn't get the impression it was dangerous. Well, maybe it was, on some lofty systematic level. But here in the medbay? He wasn't too worried.
Yawning, he curled up, keeping token watch on the door until sleep speedily took him too.]

Her eyes land on the skeleton and it clicks into place. ]
Sans! [ Relief, annoyance and a low grade panic warring at once. ] You said you'd wake me!
no subject
Oh, uh. [He glanced one way, then the other, then back at Lara with an abashed shrug.] Guess I lied.
[Get it? Lied? Like on the ground?
It's early.]

She has to calm down. She rests her elbows on her thighs, rubbing a hand over her face and trying to remember how to breathe. ]
You could have at least woke me up so you could sleep on the cot.
no subject
And miss out on this excellent space tile? [Said the lump.] What do you take me floor, L?
[And then, finally, the lump turned back into a skeleton as Sans peaked out from underneath it.] How're you doing?
no subject
Don't be clever, I'm still angry. [ Not that angry. This isn't Yamatai. If it was, she doubts she would have woken up at all. She can accept that now at least.
Her expression does soften at his question. ]. I'm fine. You don't have to worry.
[ it's mostly true. ]
no subject
[There's obvious victory in his voice as he hoists himself up on the exam table, settling in beside her.]
N' alright, tough girl. On a scale of 'I'm hurting, but not too bad' to 'I'm on death's door but I really don't want my awesome skeleton pal to fuss over me,' how fine are you really?
no subject
[ Still she considers it seriously. ] It does hurt, but not too bad. Actually I feel better than I have in days, your magic must have cleared out the infections.
no subject
[Still:] But... I dunno, kiddo. You were in pretty bad shape. At least get a prescription for something, I'd hate for all that work to be in vein, y'know?
no subject
If I go see a doctor, will you stop worrying?
no subject
no subject
[ She pushes herself up, wincing slightly as the bandages rub against partially healed injuries. She hesitates, shifting slightly from foot to foot and not quite looking at him. ]
Will you- Will you come with me?
no subject
It was almost hard to believe that only a handful of hours ago, Lara was a stranger. Sans hopped down, unnecessarily dusting off his hoodie.]
Are you kidding? I'm with you to the end here, kiddo.
