[She nodded.] Aye, I can understand that. Pardon me for saying, but you sound like you lost those in battle, not accident. Is there a war in your time, too?

...Don't really like it. Was hoping the business would pull war away from the nations, slowly. I don't know what will happen now.
[But the reminder makes his fingers hurt. The fingers that aren't there anymore, that is. It was no clean cut he initially received. Attacks from the Skulls weren't pleasent. He was fighting for a man- one he believed in, cared for.]
[Hard losing parts of yourself, nine years of your life and a few before that, to yet someone else that abandoned you.]
[Probably not a good conversation for a first meeting, but he thinks of it anyway. Not a lot of wars were worth fighting.]
I was born some time after World War II. [The war Niko mentioned. That brutal one.] To a Japanese mother. My name means "Peace". I guess if more of the world thought like her, it would be a better place.

'Peace.' I think it's real swell for your mom to have named you that. Hopeful, like. Where was she from? I don't quite recognize what 'Japanese' means, sorry to say.

Normally they have darker hair, darker eyes. But they're shaped differently. Mine were blue, before I was injured. Mine are only a little bit- I look more like my father.
[He admits that much, before he takes off his glasses and blinks hard against the light. Everything is fuzzy, bright.] This almond shape. Heavier eyelid. [And then he replaces his glasses.]

Ah, met a few people like that. Sailed with one--her name was Cheng Shih. [Turning, she swept her hair from the back of her neck and tugged the collar of her uniform down, revealing a golden dragon.] She thought I were a barbarian, but she took a liking to me. [Which was understating it just a tad.] She was...intense. I'm grateful she let me go back to my Jaimy and our friends.
[Turning back around, she soothed the kittens who hadn't much cared for her movements.]
I don't think I stepped foot on China, but I spent a lot of time in Rangoon with a man who called himself 'Chopstick Charlie', Mister Chen Li.

Something like that, yeah. East of China.
My father was an American soldier there. And my mother was an... independent businesswoman. [He's not ashamed of his mother's occupation but he doesn't want to risk anyone being ashamed or her for having been a prostitute. And it's not untrue. She did open a small business.] At least rough times can make for interesting relationships.
[If he did know of the understatement, he couldn't blame her. It wasn't as if he took a liking to a barbarian.]

War can definitely make strange bedfellows. When you don't know if you're going to survive the next engagement, you take what comfort you can. [She's certainly taken her fair share of bedfellows in less than ideal circumstances, as Jaimy was wont to get heated over.]
Did your parents stick together after the war?

[Then he shrugs, gesturing with his lone left arm.] But those aren't to be begrudged either. [Lord knows that, some time ago, he had more than enough.]
