While they may have traded one prison for another, this was a definite improvement over the cramped cave they called home. Papyrus spent so much time dreaming of freedom, so much time planning for the surface, and now that they were this close, well. In Sans's opinion, his brother was shining far brighter than any of the stars outside.
"Well? What do you think?"

When he finally got his fill of the view (for now) he turned back to Sans, still emotional as his eyesockets brimmed with inexplicable tears.
"How did we get free? And where are all the others??"

How could anyone kill him?
"I, uh... I dunno, man." He finally turned back to the glass, smile dimming slightly. The others. Probably long gone now, if Sans had to guess. Swallowed up by the demonic child's rage and mercilessness. Sans and Papyrus were spared, but if the others weren't here already...
"They'll probably show up in the next few days." Sans knew so little of this place and how it worked, that hell. Maybe he wasn't as much of a liar as he felt like. "Just gotta be patient, that's all."

He grinned at Sans and nodded eagerly. "Of course! If we made it here, then it's only a matter of time before the others find the way!"

He probably deserved better. He definitely deserved better. But unfortunately for them both, Sans was all he had.
"C'mon." Sans nudged, after a few more minutes of awed stargazing. "There's a whole ship to explore. Let's get to it."
It was one of the few times in their lives that Sans was the one pushing his baby brother to get moving, but hey. Guilt could be a pretty powerful motivator.
