There was a part of Peggy that always wanted to know what the future had in store. She knew of Steve's return, of Bucky having survived and been turned into a weapon, and even a little of the SSR becoming SHIELD. But even then, she only knew vague details. And until now, she was fine with that. Knowing her future seemed like a line she shouldn't cross, that if she knew too much, she might mess something up. But it was becoming painfully obvious that she had no choice anymore. The future was all around her, and while it hadn't been hard to ignore bigger details when it came to Bucky and Tony, Alexander Pierce was a different story.

On an evening she knew her two roommates would be out, she sent Steve a text and asked him to meet her at her room. She wanted to talk, and she wasn't going to take no for an answer. She didn't know how willing he would be to share what had transpired since he awoke from the ice, but she was prepared with a pretty convincing argument should he protest.

When she asks him to come to her room, Steve almost instinctively knows what it has to be about. There's been little else happening on the ship, aside from their newest captain and his first mate arriving, and besides, it's not as if they need to discuss that. It's small on the grand scale of more important things, and he's prompt to meet her at the time she asks, expression a little drawn as he tries to decide how to best broach the topic. He's aware of some of what she knows, but he doesn't want it to be a repeat of the conversation he'd had with Tony. Twice. Of anyone here, he would always be honest with her; omitting anything never seemed to work out in his favor anyway.

So, he knocks on her door and waits, tries smiling when she answers and lets him inside. "You wanted to see me?" It's light, catching himself before he tacks on that quiet ma'am as he had done once. They're beyond that though, and now, more than ever, it would have just sounded stressed and out of practice.
