Who: Charlie McGee/Andrew Demter, Charlie McGee/YOU
When: Throughout the day on the 5th
Where: Throughout the ship
What: Charlie has a new tattoo and wants to show Andrew/Charlie DITL
Warnings: None for now, will edit as threads go
LIBRARY:
Charlie's at the library, pushing the cart to put books away and taking note of the lights being dimmed down. The whole situation with new captains and all has her frowning, a tension in her shoulders that comes from too much happening at once. They didn't get a minute to breathe around here, did they? It was just constantly one thing after another whether it be huge changes, or being attacked or being on planets where Slavery was okay.
That situation hadn't sat too well with her, honestly. There was too much familiarity and she'd slept poorly even after it was all said and done.
So now, as she put books away, she tried something new with it. Just to distract herself from things she can't change just yet. Her telekinesis wasn't her strongest ability and she wanted to change that, starting small and using it to try to put books away. For every two she got on the shelf, there were another two that either ended up on the floor or took out a couple books on the way.
At least she was keeping busy.
Mess Hall:
It wasn't that Charlie was here because she was hungry. It was more she wanted to people watch while picking at food in a very half-assed manner. Her journal sat open on the table and she had a pen in hand, writing something that looked like a letter as she glanced around at her surroundings, trying to take in all the new faces as she wrote.
Occasionally, when it felt like someone was getting too close to her book, she'd calmly close it and wait for them to continue on. Clearly, these were a bit personal.
If you happen to be someone she knows and you catch her eye, there's a smile sent your way and a "How's it going?"
She has friends here, which amazes her, so she can be nice and polite when it's a familiar face.
For Andrew: Barracks.
Charlie had one person on the ship she cared for most, and that was one Andrew Detmer. Even with all the time she spent around him, sometimes she felt like she couldn't get enough. Plus today, she had something she needed to show him.
Her left arm was held at a subtle angle, Charlie taking care to not bump it on anything as she moved. The one time it did, she happened to be at Andrew's door and had lifted her arm to knock, brushing it against her hip by accident.
Basically, if Andrew is close enough to the door, he'll here the following:
"Ow...motherfucking..." knock knock knock. "Andrew, are you in?"

library goddammit
She can move things with her mind. Well, that explains some things.
Charlie just moves over to stand next to her - not too close, not in a way that would be considered sneaking up on a person, but close enough to nod and say "Hi, Leigh."
It's good to see someone she can maybe trust.
Re: library goddammit
"Are you okay?"
No hello. Just straight to that.

Probably in the bluntest way possible.
"There is a child-murdering psycho on the ship and I really hate our new captains. I'm okay aside from that, though," she adds, hastily, trying not to worry her friend too badly.
no subject
She wasn't quite expecting that. At all. The part about not liking their captains, sure. That much seemed to be pretty much mutual. She wasn't impressed and couldn't help the amount of unease they put her in.
No, she didn't like them at all.
"Child-murdering psycho, first off, is automatically on my shit list. So you just let me know who he is and if he does anything. Okay?" She has experience with those kinds of people.
"And I may have to admit I'm about as big a fan of the new captains as I am child-murdering crazies. Sit down. Talk to me. I haven't had a break, yet. Seems as good a time as any."

It's good to have someone to vent to in times like this, she's starting to realize.
"He calls himself Dave, but that's an alias, I don't know what for. He looks really forgettable, but also really unpleasant - you'll know when you see him, trust me."
She hesitates - but decides against talking about Sammy, for now. Instead, she brings up the chat
linked earlier in the thread."And about the new captains - this was supposed to be private. Now it isn't. I don't even have words for how bad that is."

She remembers cameras and a sense of being watched all the time, every moment lacking privacy, even when she's by herself.
Good job, Captains. You've just relegated yourselves to Shop status.
"These new captains are assholes," she finally says, expression shifting to stubbornness and annoyance.
"What we're they thinking? That's a huge breach of trust and they want us to work with them?" A scoff. Charlie doesn't trust these guys as far as she can throw them and all things considered? That's probably pretty damn far.

Once she's back in the here and now (it takes one to know when,) she asks, very quietly, "You okay?"
She'll address the rest of it later. All she can do now is hope Dave is too focused on whatever insanity he's up to, to find out about this...

"It's really nothing I want to get into right now," Charlie says, smirk on her face. "It's heavy shit, and I wanna keep it to myself for the moment."
Tucking a small bit of hair behind her ears, she looks at Charlie for a moment. She senses a need to change the subject, so she goes with it.
"Did you know we actually basically have the same name? Mine's Charlie, too."
no subject
The change of topic is effective, especially since the firestarter had previously called herself Leigh. An alias, clearly. She probably had her reasons, and...well, maybe she's being too trusting, but these reasons don't seem to be bad ones.
So she'll leave it be for now.
"Seriously? Huh. It's actually short for Charlotte with me," she admits, eyebrows up in surprise.
library~
She stops when she hears something drop. She leaves it alone -- until she hears it again. She decides to go explore the source. She stops when she sees two books floating, attempting to get on a shelf. She doesn't see who is doing this, yet. But when the books pitch down, like they are going to drop, Jean stops them before they can hit the floor.
And smoothly places them on the shelf next to the other ones.
Re: library~
When Jean catches the books, Charlie has her eyes closed tight, fingers pinching the bridge of her nose with a sigh. This was no good.
Opening her eyes and spotting the new girl helping her out, Charlie manages a tired smile and her words are genuine.
"Thanks. I appreciate that."

Even though she looks and sounds a lot like the Mystique she knows.
Eventually, she'll smile, shaking her head, "No problem. It took me a while to get the hang of it." She takes a step forward.
"Are you okay?"
