"Welcome back...?" Smooth, Toriel, smooth. She tries to salvage the situation adding a moment later. "I, I wasn't sure if you would- return..."

"Heh, uh... yeah. That seems to be a running theme."
His pockets wave back and forth slightly, highlighting his fidgeting. It's a rare bad habit from him, but unsuppressible in the moment.
"... It's good to see you in one piece, T."
For all the awkwardness, that sentiment is achingly sincere.

Toriel for her death, for what happened when the ship jumped into the darker aspects of space is untouched. No glass laced through her body, no injuries, no lingering effects from her death. "I missed you."

He moved closer, taking her hand in his and pulling for her to come down to his level. It's perhaps a little hasty, with her children resting mere feet away. They hadn't told them yet. Hadn't told anyone yet, really, save Ratchet and a few vague hints to others. Not even Papyrus knew, though perhaps he'd guessed. He was more perceptive than people gave him credit for.
Still, hasty or not, it doesn't stop Sans from wrapping his arms around her neck once she's close enough.

"I'd ask you to not do that again- but promises are a tricky sort of thing." She jokes weakly back, trying to keep things steady. Toriel hadn't exactly had a chance to hash out grief for Sans death yet. Not with both children in such a state and needing her so. Her own feelings naturally go on the back burner when her children need her.

It's hard to parse when skeletons kiss. They don't really have the lips to make it a markedly different gesture from pressing up close. Still, there's a firmness in how his teeth push up against her cheek.
1/3 idk yet
"Mom, I had a bad dream-"

Done
That's mom and Sans kissing.
Why are they kissing.
1/3
They don't say anything, just blinking sleepily at Toriel and Sans--
no subject
Oh.
My god.
That's a kiss. That's totally a kiss.
DONE
"YES!"
THEY HAVE WAITED LITERAL YEARS TO FINALLY SEE THIS MOMENT.

"...Sans came by to say hello." The smoothest response to being caught kissing a skeleton. Not even going to acknowledge it. Her expression smooths out from panicky surprise to something parental in a second. "You had a bad dream, dear? Are you alright?"
no subject
(Sans and his mom?!)
At Toriel's question, it takes a little longer than usual to give her an answer.
"Um... I was gonna ask if I could... stay up with you."
no subject
This kid.
Bouncing on the balls of their feet and grinning ear-to-ear, Frisk runs over to Toriel and looks excitedly from their mom to Sans and back again.
"You did it, you finally did it! See, Sans, I told you she likes you! When'd it start, is Sans gonna move in now?"
he makes it midway down the hall, feels like an ass, but just keeps going. the sans way.
Now Sans is out the door.
Right around when that mention of moving in starts.
no subject
"No one is moving anywhere." She steps forward to gently hustle both children back into their room and out of the hallway. "Now, let's find something we can read together. I have a few new books I borrowed from the library."
no subject
At Frisk's excitement, Asriel just shoots them a wide-eyed "oh please no not you too" kind of look. He opens his mouth to say something, but realizes he really can't with Toriel there. At least not without making this whole situation way more awkward than it already is.
Instead, he just lets Toriel push both him and Frisk back to their room. He still seems to be in a daze.
"I like books. Books are good..."
Not even gonna ask what they are, as long as they don't involve kissing. Asriel would gladly accept an entire book on snails at the moment.
no subject
"Awwww! But I wanna know!"
They are at least following along with Toriel's prodding, though.
no subject
"Right now, dear. We should be thinking about pirates." Not about their mother's weird, weird love life with a skeleton. "The main character is a very lively young lady dread pirate. I'm sure it'll be an amusing read." Toriel read through some of it already for a quality check, it is a bit more violent than she likes, but no one is shot, tortured or gutted so she figures it is safe read.
no subject
"Yeah, I remember that book! That's the lady pirate who was fighting and giant octopus on the cover, right? Does she fight a giant octopus? Who wins? Do they team up?"
no subject
They're being selfish again.
Instead of saying anything further, Frisk just nods and curls up against Toriel's other side.
no subject
She reaches out lightly to coax her hand through Frisk's hair as the human child curls up against her. Asriel getting just the same parental doting treatment before she opens the book.
Toriel puts in a lot of energy in reading the book, using varying voices for characters and making sound effects when needed. Both children are likely used to it by now.
It is also her way of completely derailing any further questions.
