"Arguments on their nature are refuted by those who return to shore, wide-eyed with tales of their savagery."

The open one, obv!
[It's a very sudden, bombastic reaction. Peridot's just trying to make her way back to her workshop when she comes across the odd scene, and she doesn't think much of it until she sees what door the skeleton is propped in front of. Then she reacts to it like an offended cat: Bristling, words hissing from her lips. NOBODY IS SUPPOSED TO TOUCH THAT DOOR.]

[He raised his own voice, just a bit, to match her shouting. Maybe that's just how she communicates. Far be it for him to make things uncomfortable!
What a fantastic, accommodating friend he is.]

Peridot doesn’t seem thrilled by this move; if anything, it agitates her further.]
Friend?! [A bark of joyless laughter. Peridot gestures widely with both hands to punctuate her point:] The thing behind that door is not friendly, it nearly killed the entire crew! Vacate your position there at once!

But if I do that, he might get lonely! I don't think anyone else ever comes to see him.

[Bolstered by her fear, she redoubles her efforts and starts shoving Papyrus and flapping her hands at him in an agitated sort of way.] So shoo! Go on! Go! GO! Take a hint from the signs, don't even look at this door!
no subject
It's all right, Palatino! We can visit more later!
[And with that, he lets the tiny gem herd him away from the door.]
Why would he hurt people, though? He seems quiet enough...

I don't know, because there's something intrinsically wrong with it or something? Maybe it's defective! Or maybe, it just saves its energy for when it has access to victims that it can drain the life out of!
[She shepherds Papyrus all the way back to the gardens, lecturing and badmouthing Palatino the whole way without pausing.] Unbelievable. This is why we told the captains to space the damn thing! Yes, the operation would have been riskier with an airlock involved, but we would have been rid of it, and then I wouldn't have to worry about mud-brained newbies hovering around the stupid door and risking unleashing that thing on all of us again!
no subject
I wasn't going to unleash anything. I just wanted to say hello!

Be that as it may, take from someone who actually has experience on this ship: Don't.
