clean up
So admittedly, Billy's doing a half-hearted attempt at best-- and when he sees someone similarly disinterested and distracted, he decides they've got a pretty good idea.
He's all about reasons to slack off today.]
Break time, huh?
no subject
Break suggests I ever started.
[He tears his eyes away from the screen, gives the guy a blinding smile. He puts his finger to his lips, clearly asking not to be ratted out.]
I've found if you look busy enough with something else, someone usually gets to it for you.
no subject
[That's-- actually pretty smart. He gives a laugh.]
I'll make a deal with you. I won't go tell anybody if you'll let me in on the whole 'pretending to be busy' thing because... seriously. The clean up is dragging on forever.
no subject
[He pats the ground next to him.]
Sit, join me. Class is in session. Name's Peter, but you can call me Mr. Maximoff.
no subject
Maximoff or Peter may not be unusual names by themselves, but... combined and with the hair?
Crap.]
Billy Kaplan. [He manages a grin that he hopes looks natural as he settles in next to him.] And you'll find I'm actually not a terrible student when it's something I want to learn.

Did she tell you anything else?
no subject
[Sorting out those twin issues.] Guess she figured I'd have to run into you eventually.
no subject
[It's negative sly on the poking front, but he just wants to know if Peter knows he's sort of his... really young uncle.
Multiple universes, man. It's crazy]
It's not that big of a ship, it's true.
no subject
[And now he looks a little uncomfortable, picking at his pant leg. He's still not sure how to process that part.]
Ugh, right? I took me like, five minutes to look around this thing. And so much stuff is closed up. Rude.
no subject
[Or his uncle for that matter...]
Five whole minutes, huh? I don't know, that seems like a pretty long time for a speedster.
no subject
Figure of speech, kid. 'sides, what do you know about speedsters? [He's asking genuinely. He still hasn't talked to Wanda much about Pietro's powers.] You have a lot of experience with this other me?
no subject
[And okay, Billy's favorite superhero, even before he knew about the whole mother thing.]
My twin's a speedster. [He gives a lighter look, playful.] Everyone knows you if they know superheroes, but... yeah. One time, he even kidnapped me.
no subject
Twins? Dude, Wanda left out so much stuff. So I got a nephew who's like some mini-me. That's actually pretty cool. [His eyebrows knit, confused.] But what's this about other me kidnapping you? And a superhero? Come on, no way.
no subject
Well, my twin isn't here... I don't think she's met him yet. But total mini-you. [Oh god, if he does show up though...] It was a complicated situation. We were both looking for Wanda, so it wasn't for some evil plot. Plus, I can teleport myself practically anywhere, kinda hard to actually kidnap.
[He shifts a bit towards Peter, giving a nod.] Uh, yeah. Dude, you were on one of the first superhero teams out there. Quicksilver, by the way. Cool name, right?
no subject
[It's just something to think about. A world where he was little less alone with his power. One where he wouldn't have to wait 17 years to meet another mutant.]
Teleport, huh? Is that your thing? Been mistaken for one of those a few times, myself. You said like Wanda, so what else can you do? If you don't mind talking about it.
I guess? I've never thought about code names before. Not the superhero type. I'm a little surprised any me is.
no subject
[It's interesting to pick out the differences, that's all.]
It's one of my things. So's electrokinesis. I can focus it into lightning... [He shrugs his shoulders.] Magic. Spells, and there are a lot of them. I can conjure things out of nothing... clothes, constructs.
[He knows it probably sounds insane thought.]
So, what type are you, Peter?
no subject
[He shrugs, smile small.]
That all sounds pretty wild. Almost unbelievable. I might need a little demonstration, you know?
[Show off for the uncle, please.]
Depends on who you ask. Just definitely not the hero type. I'm not out there stopping crime or saving lives.
no subject
[He arches a brow. The fact that he's growing up with potentially both sisters is... kind of a new one too.] She sounds nice either way... well, most. Baby siblings tend to bring that out in people.
[Billy has a couple of his own after all.
And oh no. Billy isn't above showing off for his uncle, or anyone if they ask. He's been a little more confident in his magic again after all.]
Anything you've ever wanted? Some t-shirt or jacket or... well, anything?
[Please don't say something dorky like a leather jacket...]
My version of you... he's not a bad guy, but he's definitely done some not very hero-type things. Most people think he's a jerk too, even if he's a hero.
[Well, okay. Pretty much everyone thinks that, but...]
no subject
[It's bad enough his younger twin is suddenly much older. He's not sure if he can take the uncle role seriously if Billy's older too.]
17 here and I've had mine awhile. We're twins, I'm sure if we were both going to have powers we would have gotten them at the same time. [He runs a hand through his hair.] Not like some of it didn't show up at birth anyway.
Yeah? That sounds like experience talking. Dude, are you going to tell me Wanda has a bunch more kids out there?
[Peter barks out a laugh, shaking his head.]
Other than everything? Does it just have to be clothes? Cause this place took my headphones and I'm dying to listen to my tapes.
[He quiets as he listens about this other him, face turning thoughtful.]
Maybe the jerk thing is universal. Most people think I'm a pain in the ass. When you say un-hero things, what are we talking about? Petty stuff like stealing or big things? I kind of want to know what legacy I'm working with here.
no subject
[Although not great for fitting in, he imagines... and not fitting in isn't pretty sometimes. A lot of the time, really.
He lets out a laugh and shakes his head.]
That one is a long, complicated story... But no, just me and my brother. We were raised apart though, due to... some reasons. My other mother, she has two other sons.
[Don't let him get into the story of his dads, Peter, seriously.]
I can do headphones, sure. I think, anyway.
[But-- when Peter asks that, he goes thoughtful for a minute.]
Do you know Magneto? Your-- father. You didn't know that part at the time, but you joined him. You started off as a villain before you switched to the heroic side.
no subject
[He lowers his hands, snorts. Billy would be right. The hair had never helped.] Oh yeah. Very unique.
[He'd like to get him started. Social cues? What are those?]
Wanda didn't raise you? Did she raise your brother? What, did she leave your dad and you went with him?
[Oh and then they're going to talk about his father. Awkward.]
Well, that's one thing me and this other me have in common. Not knowing. But geez, don't hold back. Tell me what I did to be villainous. [He pauses, curling into himself uncomfortably.] I'm not, like, some kind of murderer or something?
no subject
[Their lives really are like a bad soap opera sometimes though. But honestly, it's better bad soap opera than bad horror movie or something, right?]
Things... they get better for mutants. Promise. [Not perfect, no, but better.]
Not really? How my twin and I were born... it's complicated. If you want the whole story, I can kind of try to explain it, but you'll probably think I'm insane.
[He holds his hands up.] Sorry, but maybe knowing can help you out in the long run? [He shakes his head at the question.] Hey, I wouldn't call a murderer a superhero, right? And even when you've made mistakes... you've had your reasons.
