Asriel Dreemurr | Undertale
[The change of scenery was jarring, as was - well, everything else. Minutes ago, Frisk had said their last goodbyes to him, leaving him alone in the ruins. All that remained was waiting. Waiting to turn back into a flower, waiting to lose "himself" again. He accepted that fate, and tried to find peace with it the best he could. Until he...
... He was...
Where was he?
Before he can attempt to answer that question, he's taken away by people he's never met before. They scan him, and the immense amount of information that he's saddled with in short amount of time makes his head spin. It didn't feel real. Was this some kind of weird dream he was having before turning back into Flowey?
He protests the entire time, begs for the people checking him and assigning him duties to let him go. Being around people - being around anyone - was too dangerous. But his protests are almost entirely ignored, only given quick reassurances before they continue their briefing. When they're done with him, Asriel's allowed to wander freely again. He makes it as far as first window he sees, stopping and staring out in bewilderment.]
... Is this... real?
Capture
[It doesn't take that long for Asriel to find trouble, as soon as he exits the ship to explore. When he gets far enough away from everyone else, so that he can soak in his surroundings in peace, he hears a deep, startling cry from someplace close.
There's a terrorist right there! Don't let them get away!
Before he realizes what's going on, he's surrounded by men in uniforms. His response is a terrified squeak before he tries to run away, but he doesn't get very far before he's pinned to the ground. While he doesn't know what a "terrorist" is, he does know one thing:
They're going to hurt him. They're going to kill him if he doesn't get away-
Asriel kicks frantically under the officer holding him down to arrest him.]
N-no, stop - please-!
Capture
Precious seconds passed as Starflight tried to think of a way to help without making things worse, or getting himself captured. He didn't think he could fight the uniformed officers, but maybe he could cause a distraction?
Starflight snuck through the crowd, and when he finally reached the edge of the circle forming around the commotion, he lurched forward, trying to look like he had fallen. He rammed into the officer holding down the kid, knocking them away. Starflight threw his wings open to get his balance, sweeping over the smaller creature and drawing them closer to him hidden underneath. ]
Sorry! Sorry, sir, I didn't mean- I'm sorry. Someone- pushed me? I'm sorry. They didn't get away did they?
[ He looked around anxiously, pretending to look for the escaped fugitive and praying he didn't look half as terrified as he felt, or that his fear would be misinterpreted as being afraid of the terrorist. He attempted to back away into the crowd without lifting his wings too much and hoping the creature would catch on. ]

The shouts from angry and frustrated officers trying to maneuver around Starflight cause him to flinch. But he doesn't run, as much as he wants to. Instead, he'll stay hidden under the wings - crouching closer to keep himself from being seen. The weight against Starflight is trembling as Asriel tries to keep himself calm.
Voices from the crowd they've attracted start to chime in.
I think I saw them slip out that way!
No, no! I definitely saw some short, weird-looking kid go down that alley!
As the crowd gets more anxious, Asriel remains completely silent. Hopefully they'll look for him somewhere else. Please just go away.]
no subject
He lowered his head so he could whisper a warning. ]
I'm, um, going to try and fly us out of here. Just so you're ready.
no subject
He moves closer to Starflight, grabbing on in case they need to bolt out of there right away.]
no subject
He scanned the ground below them frantically, knowing as long as they were in the air they were an easy target to spot. The NightWing's black scales were great for blending into the dark, but not for broad daylight. He'd been clutching Asriel close to his chest, but he carefully loosened his grip so his companion could move better.]
Do you see anywhere we can hide?
no subject
Asriel gives his surroundings a quick glance, trying not to panic at just how much distance is between them and the ground.]
W-what about that building over there?!
[It wasn't the most ideal place to land, but there wasn't anyone waiting for them on the rooftop.]

Arrival
[Frisk pauses when they take a turn down a new hallway and see someone up ahead, making a double-take when they see just who it is. No way...it's already been a week, he should have turned back by now! Is this for real?]
Asriel?!
no subject
Frisk! Is that really you?
no subject
It is! And you're still you, too!
no subject
[He's not prepared, but still Asriel manages to stay upright after the sudden tackle. His current fears and worries are momentarily forgotten as he returns the hug, a sense of relief washing over him.]
Y-yeah, I'm still me! [For now, anyway.] But Frisk, what are you doing here? Weren't you with mom and dad?
no subject
Yeah, I was--it's slow, but we're talking with the humans and getting homes made for everyone...Dad asked me to be the ambassador! It's scary, but I'm trying really hard to make sure everyone is safe.
But...then I wound up here. I was at school, and I thought someone pushed me, but the next thing I knew I was on that big platform.
no subject
Golly, is that so? That's great, Frisk! You're gonna be a great ambassador for sure!
[And it makes him happy to hear it. He'd be lying if he said he wasn't worried about how monsters would fare in the surface world, but hearing that things are slowly working out is the best news he could hear. As for ending up here... well, that was much less nicer news.]
Mm, that's what happened to me too. A felt a push and the next thing I knew, I was here. Don't worry, Frisk, I'm sure there's a way to get back home soon.
[Asriel goes quiet for a moment. There's still a question he wants to know.]
... How's mom and dad, anyway? What did they think of the surface?

arrival
Whoever it was standing there at the stars, they were a monster. A boss monster. As far as Sans knew, from the stories of long dead princeses and vanished queens, there shouldn't be more than the one.
Apparently not.]
I was about to ask the same thing, kiddo.
no subject
It takes him a few seconds to find his voice. It's not like before. Sans wouldn't know... would he?
His heart is racing, but he gives an incredibly nervous smile.]
Uh, h-howdy! I wasn't expecting to see any monsters out here. Do you know what's going on? Those people tried to explain it to me, but I'm still feeling pretty lost.
[Friendly and innocent. It's almost as if Asriel doesn't recognize Sans at all.]
no subject
Still. A monster was a monster, and a kid was a kid. Kneeling down slightly, Sans brought a hand to the back of his neck.]
Heh, well, that's kind of a long story, kiddo. Did you just get here? [Sans hesitated a moment, wondering if it was wise to ask the question nagging at him. Ultimately, he did:] ... Are your parents around?
no subject
For how long, Asriel's not sure. More than anything, he really hopes Sans isn't going to be the first one to see him when he turns back into Flowey.
Still, it catches him off guard. Sans feels like an entirely different person than the last few times they met. In a way, it doesn't surprise him. He and Frisk are friends, aren't they...?]
Y-yeah, just a little while ago. And no, my parents aren't here... or at least, I haven't seen them yet.
[He hopes they're not here.]
I'm... [Asriel pauses. Should he introduce himself?] I'm Asriel. It's nice to meet you... um, wherever we are.
no subject
There was no monster alive that didn't know the name of their fallen prince, after all.]
Uh, I'm Sans. [He nodded, barely missing a beat, for all his eyelights were constricted to surprised pinpricks of white. And then, to himself, very much under his breath:] Heh, you've goat to be kiddin' me...
no subject
A flicker of uncertainty still breaks through Asriel's friendly and naive demeanor.]
It's nice to meet you, Sans. Um... can I ask you a question?
[...
......]
Do you know where the kitchen is?

Arrival
[Papyrus had been staring out over Asriel's head at the stars, but as soon as he turned to actually look at the kid, he stumbled over his words. Those ears, that thick white fur.
He'd know his king anywhere, even if this version seemed to be a lot more compact than what he was used to.
Not to mention something about them that brought something vague but persistent to mind, an important memory or concept that his mind kept running over and over without quite catching.]
no subject
Oh, uh, howdy! Sorry, I didn't realize anyone else was down here.
[Papyrus is glancing him over awfully closely though. For a few seconds, Asriel tries to puzzle out the reason why. It doesn't really hit him right away that he looks just like his parents. And that they were pretty well-known people.]
It still feels like a dream. I've never seen anything so... um... [He glances around the ship, trying to find a word to describe it. It's something he's never seen in his life.] this?
no subject
Well! We're in a different sort of place now, your majesty! We're so far from the underground, you can't even see the surface from here!
[He tilts his skull, looking confused.]
So tell me, did you clone yourself? As a much tinier king, perhaps for travel purposes?
no subject
[The family resemblance was there for sure, though. Asriel wonders if he should bring up his family. It might lead to a lot of hard to answer questions. But even at his worse, Papyrus was still nice to him.
...Still, he really didn't want Papyrus to know that he and his flower friend were connected.]
You must be thinking of my dad!
no subject
[But the name registers and he stops laughing. That name, Asriel. There's just no mistaking the resemblance, and of course he knew the heartbreaking story of the kingdom's dear departed prince. Everyone knew that one.
He'd be more confused about how he got resurrected, but literally the same thing happened to him a month ago and he's learned to roll with it.]
So... now you're here? Wowie, that's amazing! Don't worry, you're in a very great place now, with lots of room and new things to see and even a couple of monsters who'll keep an eyesocket on you! So everything will be okay!
no subject
I guess it's pretty weird that I'm here now, huh? I don't really understand it either.
[Did people still remember him though? It seemed a little strange, since it felt so long ago. He didn't need anyone feeling sad for him. Monsters were free now, he made sure of that. Well, with the exception of himself and the skeleton standing a few feet away. Everyone's moved on... right?]
There's other monsters here besides us? I didn't see anyone else around other than those humans from earlier.
