"Uhhh..." For just a moment, he looks like a deer caught in headlights before he manages to find his words again. "There've just been a lot of weird deaths in my town and my dad's the sheriff. Active imagination, you know?"
He hopes that that sounds convincing, because the last thing he wants to do is talk about werewolves or druids or any of the other crazy things in Beacon Hills.
While Stiles is clearly uncomfortable and covering for something, it might have more to do with how that story would sound to a stranger. Weird deaths? That could mean a lot of different things, and Snake isn't one to just let something like that go.
"What do you mean by weird?" he asks as he starts moving down the hall. He should make his way back to his room so he can get a shower, but seeing how he started moving mid-conversation, he expects Stiles to follow along for at least part of the walk back.
Being mostly unsure of where anything is or where he's going, Stiles follows along without really thinking much of it.
"There are a lot of animal attacks. More than any other towns like ours. And some weird murders, too. Last year, a girl was found in two pieces. This year, there was a string of murders that were kind of... ritualistic." The fact that all of these things have involved werewolves and werewolf-adjacent creatures doesn't have to be mentioned.
The weird murders are actually easier to explain. "Sounds like a serial killer," Snake mumbles to himself as he navigates the hallway, clearly familiar with the ship's layout. "Your dad must have one hell of an investigation on his hands." It's not the sort of thing that a smaller town would be prepared for, although Stiles hasn't actually said anything about the size of his hometown. Still, Snake has a feeling.
"The animal attacks, though... is there something environmental that's making them more aggressive?" It may not matter out here in space, but Snake can't help but wonder all the same.
The mention of Stiles' dad has guilt bubbling up in his chest. His father must be worried, because Stiles knows that he's worried about how his dad might be getting along without him there.
"You know I really don't know anything about that, because I'm just a normal teenager who does normal teenaged things." Except he might not be the best liar.
It's not like Snake is here to bust Stiles or anything like that. Whatever he got up to back home when his father didn't want him involved doesn't have much to do with him. But the sloppy attempt to act like he knows nothing is insulting, to say the least.
That's not going to work on a spy, Stiles.
Snake sighs and shakes his head. "Look, whatever secrets you have where you come from don't mean much here. We're in space, and most people here won't even be from the same planet as you."
