Mr. Dorian. And yep, that's called a heart monitor. It's a machine that keeps track of your heart - how many beats per second, what kind of rhythm it has. It's useful for keeping track of the heart when your patient is unconscious and unable to speak for themselves. A steady even heartbeat is good, an erratic or fast heartbeat could mean they're having seizures, or are about to.

[ Alva even comes forward to tap on the display panel. ]

The machine writes out the information here, using sequences of smaller machines inside it. It can't operate without a power source, though. [ he points to the battery back installed to the monitor; look, no cables. ] This one has a replaceable power source, so we just have to keep track of that if we're using the machine.
