He sets to work, resetting the weld as carefully as possible.

"You know how we fought those Caducans and a whole bunch of stuff turned to glass, then turned back, and I thought I was completely unaffected? Yeah, not so much. Turns out my spark chamber got hit--the whole thing was glass straight through. One good bump and it shattered, and that was it. I only just woke up."
