( if there's one thing emily hates, it's the feeling of being in the dark.
not literallyβ her armor allows her to see in the dark just fine for the most part, which is why she opts to keep it on even after she's given a few changes of clothes. with the ship being in a low-power setting now, it only makes sense for her to keep it on. it's more efficient. of course.
totally nothing to do with the fact that it feels safe and familiar.
what she hates is a more metaphorical sense of being in the dark. lacking information. there's so much that she doesn't know about this ship, the people on it, the ingress, what part of the universe she's even in, some of the technology... and when emily grey doesn't know something, she damn well finds out. which brings her to the library. she figures she can start small, maybe brush up on her history as it pertains to this ship. there has to be something useful around here somewhere, right?
step one would be actually finding someone who can point her in the right direction, which is a feat in itself. judging by the stacks of books just laying around, she suspects the library is abandoned, but as she moves around the pile she realizes she's mistaken. there's a tiny body hidden in there. she pauses, figuring this kid is a good a source as any. judging from the amount of books she has spread around herself, she knows her way around. )
Hey, cutie! ( emily sounds friendly enough. and she supposes a bulky robot-looking thing without a face could be seen as kind of terrifying to a child, so she crouches down a little, making herself seem smaller and less intimidating. ) That's a pretty impressive collection you've got. Do you happen to have any history books in there?
