[ As it always is with new crew being added to the already existing one, things are chaotic. What's more, after the new captain and his first mate address them, answering questions that have remained - quite literally - in the dark for as long as he's been aboard (and then some), Steve's taken to walking the hallways to be sure no one has gotten stuck or trapped in one of the low-powered areas of the ship. Some of them he's never bothered to actually investigate given how busy most days are—filled with routine, it's easy to get lost in the smaller things. Still, even if it's not necessarily his responsibility, he doesn't know what their previous captains are going to do. He's never liked them much, and it's not as if he's ever come to trust them either.
The corridor he's in when he runs into Jim isn't overly populated, but it's become a less-traveled one given their current state of affairs. Steve doesn't hesitate to offer him his hand at the greeting, having stopped to check his MID for any messages that might have come in.
