Maybe not in eighty days -- that wouldn't even get you to Beta Colony the long way round. But he'd wanted ship duty when he first graduated the academy. Partly for the adventure, mostly for getting as far away from his mother as possible.

He shrugs, though, and continues. "Is that why you like it? The adventure?"
