I don't know. I'm not entirely sure on what the Ingress's power source is yet, but there's definitely some kind of link between the ship and the Ingress itself. So it could be that the Ingress relies on the engines or the solar sails somehow, or the other way around— the ship relies on the energy of the Ingress.
