[There were a few days in which Kyoko was forced to resign herself to playing along. She was hardly a skilled tactician, relying on instinct rather than carefully laid plans, but sharp enough to recognize the gravity of the situation. There were times when numbers could count for more than skill, and the person (people?) in charge were devious and powerful enough to be of concern. It was better to pretend to be a normal human for awhile.

That's already gotten boring. The bubbling despair, the rage, the sheer hatred has turned into a willingness to do anything for a chance at escape. Everyone else can be left here. All of them can die. If she could, she'd nuke the entire place, but her life is worth far more than that.

She'd made a point of avoiding the other prisoner's cells out of fear of losing sight of her purpose, but the holding area for animals seems less threatening. More importantly, it's quicker and currently unoccupied. The owners of this facility were busy elsewhere, probably breaking up some tussle or another (but let them come--they were no better than monsters, nothing that deserved to keep on living.)

She's bruised and dirty, clothes in shambles and hair in a state of disarray, and she feels as though her stomach might collapse in on itself. It's not the aches that rattle her body that cause her run to slow, but the sound of soft sobs reaching her ears. She almost dismisses it as her imagination, but words follow, and her head snaps to the source of the noise. Her slow walk comes to a complete halt in front of the door. But her facilities are there, and she knows the "animal" being kept within. The color drains from her face.]

... Kid?

[It's the first time she's stopped to think about another person in a long time. What is he doing here?]
