Mechanical dogs are about as common as the real thing now. There's a whole level of politics involved with mechanical animals back home. You can't just pick an animal and be done with it. For instance, in England, you can't just have a mechanical lion. The lions belong to royalty. If someone as common as myself decided to give a bit of a show with a lion, I would be considered openly mocking or rebelling against crown and queen. Thieves like me, we don't need that sort of attention.
