[ Taking note of the head twitch, Wash's eyes dart back to the corridor ahead of them and he settles in to wait and watch. Whoever is headed their way, they'll be appearing shortly, and he's ready for when they do. Ready to react.
It doesn't seem as though he has even that long to wait before he's informed of whether those approaching are friend or foe, however. Rinzler lowering himself, the light from his blade increasing tells Wash clearly that these are foes. Trusting the program on that (he has no reason to not), he raises his rifle and shifts into a more proper stance. Barely reacting when Rinzler moves to handle the first two, he watches for about a half second before taking a much wider step away from the wall, remaining behind Rinzler. The moment he has the next Caducan in his sights, Wash tugs back on the trigger once, then a second time.
The two enemies just behind those that the program deals with drop to the floor, both bleeding from the head. His impeccable aim strikes again. It's always honestly been a talent, he's always been a crack shot, but it helps that he's been keeping up the practice where he can--using the training room and the shooting range to his advantage. With those two enemies down, Wash adjusts his aim and attempts to set it on the next Caducan, but by now, their foes have had all the reaction time they need to pull out their own weapons. As the first begins to fire, the ex-Freelancer ducks back behind the wall, narrowly avoiding being hit. Here's hoping Rinzler can handle his close-combat against enemies with firearms. ]
