We can be conscientious objectors and make flower crowns in the garden. I'd look good with a flower crown.

Or maybe you can try to talk to them anyway. Just because you aren't officially assigned to negotiate it doesn't mean you can't have a conversation with them. Maybe it'll help. And if afterward they're still set on getting their vengeance on, at least you'll know that you, personally, tried to meet their threats of violence with peace first.
