they come to us [closed]

Who: Miles, Ivan & Sans
When: the evening of 5/30
Where: the whispering rooms beyond the cargo bay
What: Miles has apparently not learned his lesson about snooping around restricted areas of the ship and has decided it's time to investigate one of the more mysterious areas. He brings Sans along as his skeleton key and Ivan as a spare body backup. Spooky shenanigans ensue.
Warnings: miles

It's late at night. The ship is quiet save for the ever-present background hum and thrum of its engines, Miles's footsteps quiet and barely an echo. Perhaps he ought to have learned from his last exploratory venture in the morgue, but Miles has never been one to let his curiosity and determination be quashed by such petty things as rules or risks. The ship isn't freezing over this time, and Miles has let both Bel and Gregor know where they're going if he somehow finds himself trapped again, though after what he's seen Sans do, he finds it hard to believe the skeleton couldn't get them back out. And this time, he's got Ivan for backup, whether his cousin likes it or not.

God knows Miles could use the distraction anyway. With both Clark and Lara disappearing in rapid succession, his heart has been heavy, and the jarring results of his encounter with Sans in the void are...well, he's still turning that one over in his head. At any rate, this doesn't register as troublemaking in Miles's brain; no, this is some grade-A problem-solving here. It's clear to him that much of the ship is still a mystery even to the captains; that's how they'd all been taken so by surprise by the Ploiatos, and to disastrous consequence -- and more than once. Never again, if Miles can help it. He'll discover all the Moira's secrets if he has to scour every inch of the damned ship himself.

The boundaries that divide are, at best, shadowy...

The strange whispers from the aft of the ship reach them faintly as Miles leads Sans and Ivan through the darkened halls of the ship, lit only by the safety lights along the floor. They have to pass through the cargo bay to get there, and while they haven't been strictly forbidden from entering this part of the ship, Miles has tried to get past the cargo bay before, and yet... He always seemed to end up back where he started. Not this time. The cargo bay is usually inhabited by Cybertronians at any given hour of the day cycle, and Miles would prefer no interruptions or interrogations. But it's dark and quiet, and it seems blessedly empty at the moment, and after a quick glimpse ahead, Miles waves Ivan and Sans ahead. "Don't go too far," he warns in a low voice. "Get too close and the ship just sends you back to the main doors."

At least he waited till he got the cast off to go do something stupid this time.
