[closed] Two snakes walk into a bar...

Who: Venom and Liquid Snake
When: End of April
Where: The Bar
What: Venom and Liquid end up talking and sharing a drink at the bar after the events earlier in the month.
Warnings: Angst, swearing, possible fighting and drink umbrella fights.

Ahab had retired to the bar after the rather manic last few weeks with the zombie prisoners and nakedness. Contamination they said. Yeah right. He placed himself up on the bar stool and looked around to see if there was anyone else he knew. He didn't frequent the bar often, only when he needed to. He had to wash the scent of zombie prisoner from him. He was going to order a whiskey but held off when he felt someone behind him. Turning around he kind of expected to see the blond man show up.

"Sure seemed like it. You..." He stared into his drink and sighed. "I got away from my handlers when I was seven. I'd been living that way for so long, forced to grow up far too early, and there you all were treating me like I was some normal kid." It was a hell of a lot to deal with, and the only thing on his mind was destroying his father and anyone else who got in his way.

He stayed silent for a good while when he mentioned the station. "Not really," he said, finally. "It... Look, it didn't go so well down there, alright?"

"Wasn't the zombies I was worried about," he muttered. He'd only really encountered them early on; once he started cooperating they'd left him alone. Small favors. No, there was really no one to be angry about from that ordeal than himself.

At the hand on his shoulder, he clenched a fist, reached for his knife, an automatic response. But he relaxed, and then he simply did shrug the hand off. Hey, at least he didn't try to kill him. "'Shit happened' is an understatement."

It was nice that Venom wasn't trying to pry. He'd probably end up spilling what happened eventually, but it was going to take a bit of time. It wasn't something he'd want to admit to, after all.

"Yeah. It is. It's done." A relief, for sure. Now, Liquid certainly wasn't going to go slicing people's arms off! In public, anyway. He snorted at the umbrella and lifted his glass up. "Heh, let me finish this one first, hm? Love that a spaceship bar has these stupid things."

"Maybe. We'll see." He wasn't particularly in the mood for just drinking a bunch of different things one after the other. Right now, he was just nursing his one drink.

And still kind of mentally kicking himself about the whole fiasco, but that wouldn't go away for some time.

"Told you these things were good, though." Who cared about any sort of stigma? Liquid was the kind of person who'd beat up anyone who said anything to start with.

"You end up down there then?" He couldn't help but be curious, all the while avoiding mentioning what had happened to him.

Liquid looked at his drink again. "Ah." Of course he did. Of course he hadn't felt the pull of the station. Of course he'd just fought. He might not have been Big Boss, but he was basically the same as him. And Liquid was just the off copy.

Ugh. He had to stop thinking about this sort of thing. Punch some things. Punch a lot of things. Finally he downed the rest of his drink, setting the glass down. "Glad to be heading somewhere else, anyway."

Ordering another drink, Liquid frowned down at the counter. He wondered if he was the only person who'd ended up succumbing to the AI's influence. With his luck, maybe he was. And there he was, thinking about it again. He took the new drink and took a quick drink. Then he looked up at Venom with an eyebrow raised.

"That's a bit more paranoid than anything I could've come up with." Not even remotely on his mind, that was for certain. "I doubt Del Pascia itself was anything like that on its own. However... I could buy the entire trip being something like that. Just different sorts of tests, all for different reasons." Unlikely, but who knew?

"I think it's all a bit less malicious than that, really. More incompetence than anything. No one knows what they're doing, they just pretend. We've got a crew full of whoever shows up and captains who don't seem so sure of anything." Then again, they were all wearing tracking devices and the whole thing was suspicious.

He was still working on figuring it all out.

"How's that for a consolation prize," he said with a snort. "Alright, sure. There's that. Suppose I can't complain in that regard."

Being no stranger to the sorts of things psychic powers could do to others, the zombies hadn't even bothered Liquid, even as they'd dragged him back into the depths of the station. No, it had been that voice, that AI that was just so damn convincing, first surrounding him, later a voice in his head that could have very well been his own for all he knew.

He took a drink. He was shit at this trying not to think about it thing.

"Does seem like getting back to the old things'd be easier, yes. But clearly if that's happening at all it isn't happening anytime soon." So this was where they'd get their missions for a while. "At least here I'm not dead."

It wasn't so easy for Liquid when the only people here he really knew were his brother, his father (although he hadn't actually known him until now), his father's double, Miller, and Ocelot. Not exactly an ideal group as far as Liquid was concerned. Raiden, he supposed he didn't mind. But he was basically alone in his anger.

"...I miss my team. Doesn't matter where we were sent. But I've lived with their loss for years. I can manage." He's been managing. Maybe he should have been a little better at showing his appreciation back then.

"Do you miss yours? I remember the soldiers back then all seemed to love you. Pissed me right off."
