i. training simulation room
Technology, Adaar decided about her second week in space, was a lot like magic. It seemingly could do anything for those who didn't know how it worked, and it was generally better for everyone if you didn't ask too many questions of the people who did know, in case you got a rambling conversation that reminded her of Solas whenever someone made the mistake of asking him about the Fade. That person was, and probably would continue to be, her.
But the simulation room provided some sort of odd escape — as customizable as it is, Adaar can find something far more familiar to her than the rest of the ship. Trees, with the afternoon light dappled on the forest floor. The background sounds of life, a distant gurgling of a river. Adaar, in the armor she arrived in with a longbow and a full quiver of arrows.
And, of course: a bear.
Anyone who enters the room during the simulation might stumble across the unfortunate animal before Adaar's caught a glimpse, and if they’re incredibly unlucky, stumble across another one in an attempt to get away from the first. Or the might catch Adaar, pulling back on the proportional longbow and letting the arrow fly into the chest of the thing, burying itself deep. She follows quickly with another one — gaze intent, brows pulled together in concentration; it takes another two arrows for the thing to fall, where it disappears in a haze of green light.
That, she thinks, is perhaps the most unnervingly realistic thing about the experience.
i. cargo bay
The horse is presenting a problem. Not that Adaar doesn't enjoy seeing one of her mounts here, especially the one that’s used to carrying Qunari rather than humans — she'd stripped the bronzed plate armor off the beast when it had arrived, setting it aside to give the thing a break. But it was still there, and it wasn't exactly the sort of thing that should be there. Although Adaar has given up attempting to find a stable on board.
She's usually found feeding the extremely large horse with food taken from the mess hall or the gardens, and then general horse related care. Someone's got to do it, and the lack of a huge army as a support group is still something she's getting used to.
The amount of people trying to kill her has gone down, however, so she considers that a step in the right direction and potentially worth the tradeoff.
