[ approaching wash like this hadn't been church's best idea, especially when the wounds are still so fresh and open for him. at this point, after spending time in wash's head and jumping into the meta's shortly after, he knows a hell of a lot more about freelancer than wash, and talking about the way things ended up is dangerous for multiple reasons.

because at the end of the day, no matter how much bullshit he spews, he likes wash. he never would've agreed to his plan with the emp if he didn't. and now he's reopened a giant can of worms that could possibly do him more harm than good.

great. perfect. but it's too late now.

All right. Okay. Look. Listen. [ his armor clinks as he shifts his weight and tightly folds his arms across his chest, curling his hands into fists against his biceps. ] What happened to Maine wasn't really his fault, no matter how much of a fucking murderous dick he was. Sigma fucked him up good. I was in the guy's head for like five seconds before you blew up the emp, and what I saw in there was way worse than any bullshit I saw while in yours.

But you, dude. You were the catalyst for Freelancer falling the fuck apart. The Meta might've sped shit up, but when you got stuck with Epsilon, everything spiraled out of control from there.

[ he takes a non-existent breath and tilts his head, his faceplate glinting. ]

What you did at Command? With the emp? With offing me and Tex? That was a giant fuck you to the Director, and I don't know if it worked, honestly, I wish I could tell you it did. But you had your reasons, and they weren't all bad ones.
