Who: Girl, Fiora, and Leia
When: 3.12
Where: Mero #004
What: Roommate shenanigans
Warnings: Will update as needed

[The girl's sitting on the floor beside her bed, using a red marker than she'd swiped from her 'job' to spice up her uniform. She glances up when the door opens, just enough to make sure it's a familiar face, and jabs the maker in her direction.]

Found a way to make these borin' blacks a little more lively. Wanna try?

[Leia comes in to find the girl decorating her clothing with a red marker. Her brows go up, but really, if she wants to wear something a little more creative, why not? Leia's not about to demand ship unity when they've all been kidnapped here.]

Why don't I watch? I don't think red is how I'd fix mine.

[Fiora is reclining on her bed, a book propped up vertically on the flat, triangular plate below her collarbones, when Leia comes back. She looks over and greets her with a smile.]

I tried telling her they might throw a wobbler over it, but... well, deaf ears.

[with that, she looks at the girl.] But I guess they've plenty of extras. They've got to, right?

[Leia nods in return to Fiora, giving her a sort of brows-raised, this is quite the kid expression over the girl's head. Fellow adult-like person, what a bunkmate they have.]

Would I? [She smiles, taking a seat on the edge of her bed to watch.] I usually wore white at home.

[And then, to Fiora:] So what is a wobbler? I haven't heard of it, either.

(fiora uses british english/english accent)

'Course colors and clothes and such matter. I'm just worrying about what they might do about it for your sake, [and she stops, as if about to say the girl's name, but then remembering she has none,] ...kiddo. But trust me, I know you'd put up a proper fight over it.

[Well, the time for reading having passed, she closes her book and sits up.]

It's a saying? You know, like... when someone gets really angry over something silly... like if a kid has a tantrum over not getting a lolly.

[Langauge is such a weird minefield for Fiora on the Moira. Most people talk in accents she'd never heard before, including both Leia and the girl.]

...I guess I don't know what a wobbler is exactly, though. Got me there.

...Thank you, Bee. [She's not sure what to make of the girl's determination to put her in blue, but it seems harmless enough.]

A lolly is a sweet. [Her eyes, questioning, find Fiora's. This is educational for them all--she's never before heard a tantrum referred to as a wobbler, though the image of a child wobbling on its legs, screaming, is certainly potent.] In my galaxy, anyway.

[personal profile] meyneth 2016-03-19 02:05 pm (UTC)(link)
[Fiora nods at Leia with a grin.] Yeah, a sweet. Hard candy. [That's one word people here share in common, at least.

Fiora looks back to the girl and ponders her furious magic-markering for a few seconds.
] It's crazy that they even gave a uniform to you, ...Bee. I know you're no weakling, but you are still young. I hope they don't have you doing anything too dangerous?

[At this point it's hard to tell what the original colors on her uniform were...]

They put me in Sanitation. The nerve... I mean, I can't even wear the uniform, but if I could it'd just be this dreadful all-black thing. It looks like old man pajamas.

[then, an afterthought:] Actually, where are you working, Leia?

I'm in navigation. [As far as things go, it suits her. The more she can learn about steering the Moira, the better.] If it's any comfort, we've all got cleaning duty sometimes.

[But they don't all have a focus on taking out the trash, for which Leia's grateful. Poor Fiora, stuck with the ship's garbage.] Has sanitation been bad so far?

[And, down the girl's way:] You might learn a few tricks doing electrical work. I'd pay attention, if I were you.

[personal profile] meyneth 2016-03-22 12:45 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah... cleaning's a simple way of putting it. Apparently some people on this ship think that if somebody else is cleaning up after them, they can be total slobs.

[Huffing, she closes her eyes and pouts. There isn't any person she's thinking of in particular, and for kids like the girl it's more understandable, but grown adults? Dreadful.]

I'd like to move to the kitchens. Cooking is something I actually know how to do, something I'm good at... Even navigation or technical things would be better. Leia is right, you could learn a lot, you know.

They're going to have to learn some manners, then. [Muttered, mostly, and a little amused. Traveling's no excuse for ignoring common courtesy--not in her book, anyway.

She looks at Fiora with some interest at Bee's question. While her own cooking skills are nowhere near as deplorable as Han's, Leia doesn't do a lot of it and doesn't really care to. It never hurts to befriend someone who can cook.

As for the girl...]

You might find a way to use it at home. Knowing how to learn quickly is a skill in itself. [That might be a little abstract for her, though.] And if you learn about the ship's wiring, we might learn more about how to take control of it.

[personal profile] meyneth 2016-03-29 12:45 am (UTC)(link)
Now there's a good reason if I ever heard one.

[Really, Fiora's just happy to get off the topic of how she collects garbage for several hours a day, but Leia's right in any case. If they can wrestle this ship from those mysterious captains, maybe they'd get home a lot faster.

She shifts around in her seated position on the bed, wiggling her heavy body until she's facing the other girls more comfortably.
]

Tell you what - if you try hard at learning the technician side of things, I'll cook some good stuff for you. I don't think they'll have the meat I'm used to, but the principles should be the same, right?

[Fiora gets a mouthed thank you over the girl's head. Keeping her doing her work is a small thing, but Leia thinks they'd better at least try.]

That's a good question. [She hasn't exactly gotten into the ship in that kind of detail, but she ] We'll probably need to know things about the engines and the computers up in navigation. But anything you can learn could be helpful.

[They might be able to disable locks, depending on just how things are set up. There are more possibilities than seems worth going into for now.]

[personal profile] meyneth 2016-03-31 09:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Biggest serving you want. It's not like I'll be having any.

[Smiling, Fiora covertly winks at Leia after the girl looks away. It's alright - Fiora's used to motivating others with food. Easiest way to the heart is the stomach and all that.]

Anyway... [she says, laziness leaking into her voice, as she flops backwards onto her bed.] ...I'll let you two plan the escape, unless you have an idea on what kind of useful secrets I could uncover in Sanitation. Or you can call me if you need me to punch something.
