Set Out For a Great Adventure

Who: Kelly Ann and OTA
When: Month of November
Where: MedBay, Gymnasium, Music Hall, and Chemistry Unit #3
What: What Kelly Ann is up to for November.
Warnings: None at this point

i. If you want somethin' don't ask for nothin'

MedBay

[ Kelly Ann is not one to sit around idly. As soon as she gets her bearings, she looks for something to do. Unfortunately, there isn't much call for teleprompter or spotlight operation on the Ingress. So she has to look for something else to occupy herself.

Thanks to Shepard's handy organizational chart she winds up in MedBay doing scut work. It's not glamorous. Or interesting. But somebody needs to do it and better her than somebody who could be doing something more vital.

Her first day, she gets there before anybody else. Intergalactic jet lag is a bitch. Mostly everything seems in working order, until she finds a supply closet that's a disaster area. She's not quite sure where to put everything yet, so she decides to start by simply tidying supplies and putting them in bins so that when the actual doctors show up and tell her where they want stuff it's easier to organize quickly.

She's focused on her work, but it's not all that involved. So when she hears somebody else enter the MedBay she notices right away.]

Oh, hey. What's up?

ii. If you want nothin' don't ask for somethin'

Gymnasium

[ It's very strange to go from living in the confines of the constantly-moving tour bus to the spacious but stationary Ingress. As time wears on, Kelly Ann starts to feel the strain of cabin fever. Or space station fever. Whatever.

For the first time since arriving she goes to the gym. Luckily, there doesn't seem to be anybody else around. Which is lucky because she's not going to be running and she's not sure if what she wants to do is even allowed.

Whatever. Skateboarding is punk, right?

Before long she's gliding around the outside of the track. It's weird. The track itself is too springy and textured to make a good surface, but the thin strip of polished concrete on the sidelines between the track on the wall is smooth enough. It's still weird to skateboard on a track. Like it's some kind of sanctioned sport.

After a few laps she starts experimenting. Simple things, as she hasn't been doing much in the way of tricks for a while. Some ollies and shuvits, just warming up. And wishing she had a curb or a railing to do something more interesting. ]

iii. Now the neighbors can dance

Music Hall (first come, first serve)

[ The fact that there even is a music hall in this place is pretty incredible. It's not as big as Kelly Ann's used to. More of a chamber music/indie band scene than an arena.

It smells the same, though.

She paces around the seats, prowls the catwalk, pokes around the wings, and checks out the fly system. It's mostly in good repair, though there's some basic maintenance that should be done. Seems a waste of time, though.

Homesickness has not been a problem until this exact moment. Standing in the middle of the stage, looking off at the wings, only work lights illuminating the space, she wipes a couple tears. She doesn't hear anybody approaching. ]

iv. When Daddy comes home you always start a fight

Chemistry, Unit #3 (Closed to Adam Jensen and Anakin Skywalker)

[ Kelly Ann isn't quite sure how the housing situation worked, but hopes it was something like the tour bus. She finds an open bunk in a room that isn't too big and seems to be mostly claimed already. She doesn't look too close at the other belongings scattered about, though it seems somebody there really likes brown bathrobes.

She sets down her duffle and starts unpacking what little she has. It's weirdly quiet, with only the air conditioning-like soft hum of the life support and the sounds of her own movements in the silence. She's used to the constant chatter and road noise and music of the road.

Humming as she goes, and drumming on the sides of her bunk with her hands, she pushes back the overwhelming lack of sound. Until she hears a step at the doorway and freezes. ]

Um, hi. So, wanna be roommates? I can find somewhere else if... if that's not ok.

(Willingly putting himself in a medical situation is the last thing that Eddie Kaspbrak ever expected himself to do. He spent so much time stressing out about his mom taking him to the hospital that he forgot that sometimes places like these really could help out. Trouble was he didn't really get how any of it worked. His mom always had him sit down in a scratchy chair while she went out and filled out any of his forms.

This has lead to Eddie wandering aimlessly. It takes him longer than he would prefer (some of these places are creepy alone) but when he does finally find a room with a lady in it, he feels a bit of relief crawl its way into his chest.

Eddie sticks by the door, tucked up against it like he's not entirely sure if he's allowed in the room or not. He looks tired, to say the least, and rumpled. In one hand is an outdated as all hell looking first aid kit (from the 1950s, to be exact) and in his other, the one curled up against his chest, is his aspirator.)

Um. Hi. (He starts off, never great with adults.) My name's....Eddie Kaspbrak. Are you a doctor?

[The cabin fever is definitely something that most of the people in Avagi can relate to. And unfortunately enough, it doesn't get better within the time either, at least in Juri's opinion. Which is the reason she believes it to be important to maintain certain daily routines to keep herself from going mad. -- Which, of course, involves taking care of the physical shape.

She makes her way to the gym, easily one of her favorite places on whole station, with ever so loyal task bot following her like a shadow. And just like always, she first heads towards the cabinet where are training foil swords are located to. She takes out the one that had became her favorite but before she even gets to start warm up her attention is taken away by the sound of soft wheels rolling against the floor in quick speed not too far from her. Curiosity wins over the training and Juri decides to approach the sound.

What she comes across is a surprising sight: A lady, not too much older than her, doing tricks on the skateboard. Not something you see everyday, no, but there still is something distantly familiar with it. Juri watches her for a good while with a satisfied smile and after the other girl finishes a difficult looking trick she starts clapping, sword still in her hand.]

Not bad.

(Truthfully, and unfortunately, Eddie was a natural nervous wreck. He was definitely lost, and while he believed some parts here, it was more that he had literally no clue what to do with any of it. His mind wasn't wholly developed enough to open itself around the possibility of self-reliance. So here he was, trying to figure it out.

He doesn't move from his spot at the door even as the woman introduces herself seems friendly enough. His mouth does lift a bit at the corner because-.)

Pistachio? Like the nut?

(That smile is quick to fade though. He looks down at his inhaler before looking back up, his brows furrowed together.)

You're not a nurse or anything?

(She kind of looked like a nurse. But then again, Eddie had only ever met women nurses. His eyes slowly rolled across the room, curious more than anything.)

...Is this where all the medical stuff is kept?

(And he did mean all of it. He vaguely recognizes the name Lúcio, and yeah, he probably will wait. That much is obvious when he takes a step into the room, still keeping far away enough to be to himself.)

Ah. [For a moment it looks like the other girl isn't going to make it from her newest trick, to which Juri merely reacts with quick pause in her claps, but then she recovers just in nick of time and finishes it flawlessly.

Heh. Just like someone she knew.]

There's plenty of room. [Then her attention turns to her sword, she looks down to it and then back up - smug smile on her lips.] That it is.

[Adam steps inside without much thought to having share the other beds in the small space. He hasn't bunked with someone, ever. Moving in with girlfriends didn't count as bunking up right?

He looks first to the unmade bed with random pieces of electronics on, some various cartridges and equipment, and is glad to see nothing has been disturbed. His eyes shift behind his lenses to the other bunk which has a few items on it including some brown cloth. Finally he looks up to the girl as she begins speaking. He lifts his chin slightly, taking measure of her before he lets out a small breath.]

Hi. Yeah, sure. Not like I own the place.

But if you snore we may have to have a talk.

[He's joking, not that his expression or rough voice indicates that.]

(Now a horse would have grabbed his attention more. But that was neither here nor there.) It's a funny nickname.

(Funny in a good way, he means, not in a bully-funny way.

You get what you get. It was funny. Most adults liked sugar coating things, saying 'oh well no there's not nurses right now, but that's okay, there could be'. Not this one. It was matter of fact enough that Eddie creeped into the room further. His eyes were on the box of stuff she was sorting through, curiosity welling up.)

I have an inhaler. I was wondering if there were refills here. (He's standing right next to her suddenly.) Do you know what all this stuff is?

[Now he'll be craving pistachio pudding the rest of the day, thanks a lot. Adam eyes her for a few seconds longer before stepping forward and offering a black and shiny prosthetic hand for her to shake, unless she's squeamish, otherwise it'll be brief and light and harmless.

After he takes his hand back he folds his arms over his chest.]

How do you get a nickname like 'Pistachio'?

I have worse. (He says this as if to offer her some comfort.) My mom calls me Eddie-bear. That doesn't even make sense.

(He sounds completely exasperated by this fact. Everything his mom does is exasperating, truthfully.

It isn't too shocking, he supposes, that nothing is in English. Not with everything else going on.)

I bet I know some of it too. I practically grew up in a hospital.

(Said with a bit of a sigh, but Eddie still looks intrigued enough to stick around. While he hated hospitals, he did pride himself a little bit in knowing more than the average kid about most things. He sniffs.)

Do you want some help? I just washed my hands so I'm clean to handle stuff. (He wiggles said hands. He had nothing else to do and Eddie was restless on the station so if anything, it'd give him something to do that wouldn't get him in trouble.)

[Rogue had heard there was a music hall, and she was determined to find it. Way back when, she'd played piano, and often times sang at Church. She'd fallen out of practice, at the Institute, except on those rare moments when she needed the comfort of her fingers splayed out against the keys.

It felt different now, leather gloves forever between her fingers and the ivory.

Still, she found that familiar longing in stomach, the blonde girl from the network having stirred her nostalgia.

Eventually, Rogue found the hall, and pushed open the doors. She'd expected to be alone, but to her surprise, a figure stood on the stage.]
Hello? Sorry- I didn't mean to disturb you, if you were in the middle of something. I was just hoping that- hey, you're the girl that rapped! [Rogue smiles.]

Yeah, hey, [she waves a gloved hand in greeting.] No, it's... just my name. [She doesn't really enjoy getting into the whole way she picked that name, or why she's abandoned all of her other names.]

And you're... Kelly, was it?

[Rogue takes a few more steps down the center aisle, looking around.] Yeah, I'll say. What a weird place this is. [Coming up to the stage, she hoists herself up with remarkable agility.]

Thanks. [She smiles, she rather likes it too. The name is far more fitting than Anna Marie ever was.] Nice t'meet you Pistachio. [she smirks at the name.

When Pistachio heads to the drop cloth, Rogue follows her with her eyes, not daring to take any additional steps until the surprise is revealed. The moment it is, however, dust in the air, Rogue gasps.]

Oh my gosh- if that ain't the most beautiful piano I've ever seen... [Slowly she approaches Pistachio and the Piano. Gingerly, she lifts the cover up off of the keys and presses down on middle C.] I should be able to tune it.

[He listens silently, not interrupting, his expression never changing. About the time she's explaining that Pistachio was a race horse he unfolds his arms and settles one hand on his hip. Adam really isn't sure if being named after a horse is flattering but he supposes if it was a winning one then maybe it is.

But, to answer her question:]
Adam Jensen.

Never heard of Staton-House Band, but I have heard of Lynyrd Skynyrd. [He doesn't know which is weirder, meeting people from Earth here or meeting people who aren't from Earth. Both are, he decides. This whole situation is fucking weird.

As for the fact that this guy that named her after a horse just died, he really has nothing to say. He's never been good at comforting other people.]

So you're American? Where from?

(It's a surprising, lively laugh that has Eddie jumping in surprise. Almost at once, Eddie is groaning miserably, even more so when his hair was ruffled.) It is not cute! (He gets the biggest frown on his face, and his voice is only a teensy shrieky when he exclaims:) Don't call me that!

(Thankfully Eddie doesn't seem that bothered, but he is a little red in the face. People and giving him nicknames.

Eddie only shrugs at her, poking at the edge of the box. He just grumbles instead.)
It wasn't like I was actually sick.

(Something he was still struggling with understanding about himself. The asthma thing being the worst and likely (definitely) would never pass.)

Really? (Color him excited. He's actually pretty good with this stuff. Being a hypochondriac had its positive points. His head swings to see where each specific pile was, nodding. That was all easy enough. A kid younger than Eddie could figure it out.)

If you're not a nurse, why are you helping out?

(He digs his hand into the pin and withdraws a packaged syringe. He points to it and looks at her very seriously.)

Did you know people use these for meth sometimes? (Eddie.)
