He laughs a bit, his nervousness beginning to slip away. The compliment did the trick; his steps are a lot more confident now and he offers her a smile to match.
"But you forget, I like watching people. How they move and interact. When you're a ten year old monster trying to pass yourself off as 'normal' you tend to observe people closely to figure out what normal really is."
He realizes he didn't really answer her question, so he continues as they move about the room. He stumbles slightly, but he laughs it off sheepishly.
"I've seen people dance before. And I mean really dance, not gyrate. Granted they weren't fancy balls, but there have been plenty of harvest festivals and folk dances that I've attended. I never danced though...not many girls my age and any that were usually stuck to their soldiers or magicians of choice. A lowly blacksmith like myself usually never got a second glance, but I was alright with that."
