None of this is actually real. This is some kind of brain projection. But by the same token, if they fail here, they might as well fail in reality. Who knows what's going to happen? And he refuses to leave his team. Not without making sure their future is secure.

Rather than fight with the heads, the Lion dives. Makes for the body. Some part of him remembering an old story -- cut off the head, two more will arise. So, instead of that, strike for the heart.

"Don't cut the heads off!"

He's not sure of Darin can hear him. He figures it's better than nothing, though, calling out to him.

"It might grow more! Hold them, but don't cut them!"

Maybe this thing doesn't actually have a heart. It has a body. And that's where they dive, where the Lion targets its next attack.
