[ In all honesty he sort of expected something like this. Because how could he—Garrett Hawke—wind up in some place like this and not walk directly into trouble? It's almost as if the Maker has some horrible, terrible, awful, no good, very bad sense of humor. Because, Hawke likes to think he's open enough to jokes; he likes to laugh! He likes to have fun! But, somehow, he always winds up arse over teakettle right smack dab in the middle of trouble.
Because he's been in a crisis situation before—"a" being a very, very loose and subjective word, there—he knows how to react and how not to react. There's a funny little feeling that still twists in his gut over things that have happened and that he can't change. And that's likely what keeps him back in the medbay to assist with injuries instead of tearing off into the fray. At least he sends Barkspawn off to help, though it's with a sad, heavy heart that he does. But, he can be of more use here; healing may not be his first choice but it's something—apparently—universal. ]

[ Now this is something he can relate to on a visceral level. He knows what it's like to have to pick up and leave a place behind for something else and not knowing what may be waiting on the other side. He's been one of these people before—in a loose sense of the word, at least. His heart goes out to them.
Which is exactly why he's right in the thick of things to keep their spirits as high as he can—sharing food, telling outrageous tales of valor (and possibly questionable ratings but no one knows Seneschal Bran or Serendipity here anyway), and letting the dog snuggle up to those who seem to need the furry support. ]

[ Hawke will be aboard the ship the whole time so, feel free to hit with anything. Happy to plot something more specific if necessary, just hit me up! ]
