"Let them in, and take them out."

Not exactly interested in that kind of scenario.
[He's not going down without a fight, that is.]

That sort of attitude is exactly why it would be a feat! None of us know when to quit!
[Then laughs, because that's funny to him somehow? Probably, considering the number of people who had apparently died back home only to get pulled in by the Ingress after their death. Or moments before.
Onlytwo days away from retirement...]Even if they try to thin our numbers, with so many heroic types around, even attempting to thin our number by attacking the young or weak is probably just a suicide wish.
no subject
Depends on what kind of tech they're packing.
[His own gun can only do so much.]
Could be weapons like we've never seen.
/crawls out of sickness and does her tags
By the looks of things, it was probably just researchers and scientists floating around here. It's not like you'd need to come in armed to the teeth to take these guys out.
[he's going through notebooks as he talks. This one looked like it was just someone's workbook; full of half-finished equations and unsolved questions. Garbage. Not even worth burning, apparently]
opens arms
[76 is confident enough in his own training to assure that much. Barring some kind of insta-kill button, or something, he's got enough martial arts training to give anyone or anything a run for their money. He's not going down easy, that's for sure.
Still, he's not exactly going to call it fun.]
If they were killing scientists it means they didn't want the findings to become public. Whatever happened here was dangerous.
o-oh... ///////
[the brooding was getting out of control... Prometheus found it hilarious]
Well, they did put in the extra effort to erase all this research after killing everyone. [he scoffs, then turns to look at the 'older' man] For someone who looks and acts like a soldier, you're awfully interested in things out of your field. All of us have proven that we're just too stubborn to die, so what has you so paranoid?
no subject
[Can't let that happen! He outright scoffs at the notion that just because his main talents involve pointing a gun at things and pulling the trigger means he shouldn't be digging up anything he possibly can, especially in a situation like this.]
Don't have high hopes for getting home, that's all. Might be smart to figure out what went wrong.
no subject
[he tosses the notebook back onto the table] You fly too close to the sun, something's bound to go wrong. Isn't that how these things usually happen? Try to make something good and it inevitably goes crashing down around you.
... Though I guess if the researchers stole it first then you could say that this was what they deserved.
no subject
Maybe someone grew a conscience.
[Realized the implications of what they were doing and decided the risk was far too great. More likely, however, an outside group wanted all the information for themselves.]
Or someone took what they needed and burned the rest.
no subject
Don't know about the conscience thing but that second option sounds about fair. Then again, considering the mess that the Moira ended up being...
[Prometheus tilts his head to one side, trailing off in thought, before laughing]
Actually, I'd probably try to nip this sort of thing at the bud too. Once something starts to rot, the best solution is to cut it off before it spreads. Don't you think?
no subject
[It's abundantly clear that both groups of captains didn't know what they were doing, and probably should have done something about the Moira's situation before, well. All of this happened.
He sighs, holding out a stack of half-burned papers.]
If you can make sense of this, you're welcome to have at it.
no subject
[there's a wry smile as he takes the papers off of 76's hands]
You sure you want to give that to me? For all you know, I'll just destroy this. [Prometheus shakes the stack a little and laughs when parts of the report sheds ashes] Not that there's much left to begin with!
no subject
[He's already been through it, which is why he's handing it over to Prometheus in the first place.]
You're welcome to do whatever you like with it.
no subject
[he laughs, tossing the burned papers onto the table he was leaning against. No armour meant no fire, but that's something he'll leave for another day.
Less time spent in that armour, the healthier he'll feel]Honestly, I came over here to see what you were doing. First time I've seen you not looking like you're ready to blow someone's head off... Can you blame me for wondering what caught your attention like that, boss?
[How could he tell with 76's face covered like it was? Compared with Pandora, everyone's more expressive]
no subject
Again with the boss thing?
[Don’t do that, Prometheus. He latches onto that instead of the rest of the conversation. By now Prometheus must know that 76 won’t talk about himself.]
I told you to quit it.
no subject
Such as this aversion of yours. Really, there's no helping it; it's just the impression you're giving off naturally. [a laugh as he shrugs] How many years does it take for one to internalize the position of a leader, I wonder?
no subject
[Though he knows that it's pointless to argue the issue.]
Not interested in leading.
no subject
Wouldn't it be wonderful if we could shed aspects of ourselves on a whim? It'd make ignoring the past so much easier.
[then he leans back, getting ready to leave again]
Seasoned soldier like you... Makes a guy wonder what must have happened to change your opinion like that. Isn't the goal to fight the good fight and lead your own squad?
no subject
[From the way he growls it, that seems to be all he wants to say on the matter, even if he's fairly certain that Prometheus doesn't want to let it go.]
no subject
[he grins and gives 76 a mock salute before turning to leave]
See you later!
